I didn't realize people complained about episodes like this. Magma diver was a great episode. For me it represents the height of Asuka. I think one thing that pops out is that Asuka excelled at science, and it became useful to her. And it also represents the height of Shinji and Asuka's relationship when he saves her in the magma. I don't understand how people can bitch about singular episodes like this. You guys must be young or something. Rewatching this series when I'm near 40 and every episode is a gift.
