It sucks people can’t separate friends and sex. A friend is a friend regardless of gender - just because it is the opposite sex shouldn’t matter UNLESS it is negatively affecting YOUR relationship. Just because one person has a penis and one has a vagina doesn’t mean they have to be sexually doing things or attracted to each other. It reminds me when you have these men that find out someone is gay and they’re like “don’t hit on me- I don’t do that gay sh**” - as if every gay person wants to sleep with everyone. Dont flatter yourself. Communication and healthy boundaries should apply to any relationship. Don’t be with someone if you can’t trust them.

As a woman that struggles communicating wants, I can see how he could assume I would I'd be okay with anything other than shake shack. But I've learned that I have to say "I don't want shake shack , I want ..... otherwise whatever he gets I won't want lol After he gets the food I can't get mad cause I should've said what I wanted instead of shake shack lol

Talk about it yall ! As far as being friends with ex's, that's a hard no and even like Daniel said, not even with people you used to have feelings for. My husband and I cut all of those types of "friends" off on both sides when we first got married. And honestly, we don't have close friends of the opposite sex either. But of course we have couple friends where we all hang out together. Some couples believe different but like yall said, not giving the devil any foothold over here! Good convo on that!

How about work female friends?

Why wait until you're married to find it inappropriate? If you're committed you're committed, right? Can you even get to the being married stage with that? And then once you're married, you just cut the friend off? How's that work? And at what point do you start having these conversations? How soon is too soon? My current BF has a female friend who he says he's not interested in because he knows too much about her sexual history (and it would make him too insecure to want to be with her). That still doesn't feel super safe, if that's the only reason. But they've been friends since high-school (so about 14 years). Gone on "platonic" trips together (sleeping in same bed with "nothing" happening), he's met her fam, and even buys random gifts for her as well as male friends. Don't know what to make if it all.
