A beautiful sail around the Hauraku Gulf.
adds such an amazing viewpoint ; cant wait to see Kakariki from the air ❤
GREAT VIDEO, filming, editing, narration, etc etc. Channeling " Another Time Another Place " guy ,up the mangroves there. now u just need a dog called " Mangee " ( three - legged ? ).
Nice pre Xmas sail Ross, without the crowds... First time seen the big Genni, nice bit of kit.. 🥳
Three hulls three times as much dolphin fun! Well done on Man' o war passage. Bit nerve-wracking under sail waiting for the next puff. Great video and narration thanks Ross. That searuuner is a ship!
Thanks.. yea the Searunner 37 is pretty big, it is designed for somebody to build and go round the world. Has a safety record second to any boat. Ideal surf wagan take the boards in the hulls kinda like the Combi of the seas is known to be the surf machine one could say. There is much expression regarding the Searunner even today. The design is very good by Jim Brown.
Good one!! Great to see you enjoying getting out there!!
Ross how come you're got the subscription bell turned off great to see fitzroy in all its glory
@@lindsaygiles9874 ok i didnt know Is that turned of always. Whats it for
Next time in the Pathfinder…?!
@@Stobb0 yes indeed that is the plan
the ferry does still come to port fitzroy, but only on wednesday. other days it goes to tryphena
@@dominictarrsailing oh I didnt know that must be asealink
great to see someone else who sails through man of war passage!
@@dominictarrsailing it is easy when its easy otherwise its pearshaped and worse
@rossbarnett3759 its so sheltered there unless the wind is directly westerly its gonna be smooth, you have gotta jusy drift between the gusts though
Nice one Ross great to see your out there doing it !!
@@Sailinglocal yes thanks
Another Ross masterpiece, well done dude. Alan here, sorry I couldn't bring the Goat I was helping at a regatta. Next year!
yea I was hoping you would come to be honest. The Goat was missed this time. Maybe the Auckland Anniversary 27th 28th 29th Jan at the Mahurangi Classic Boat Festival. thanks for your comment.
Thanks Ross, this was the first Raid I've been to. It was worth it just for the silky smooth coffee. I'll be back next year, but with a sailboat of some kind. I live close to the Mahurangi, and I kayak in it often. It is truly a Taonga for sure foreshore
Heck good to hear this RAID inspired you to get a sail boat. I wonder what type of boat you are thinking about. There are some great buys these days. I suppose it all comes down to what kind of use are you going to use the boat for.
very glad the trophy cabinet made it in! also the coffee really was quite good! where did you get that recipie?
Ha that trophy cabinet was classic. I lightened the pic to see the the holes in the back. A mate Laurie was to do the coffee and to be honest, it was a total experiment.
@@rossbarnett3759 Great video of good memories - you organised a fantastic event Ross! Kudos!! Any chance you can post the coffee process on here? I think it was coffee into cold water, bring to the boil, boil gently 4 mins, cup of cold water - a bit into the spout & the rest swirled into the pot, stand for 30s-1min… pour and enjoy. Is that about right? …now when’s the next one?! 🤓
@@Stobb0 oh I better make a video of how to make cowboy coffee in more depth. ha. Its pretty simple. You simmer coffee for 4min then wait another 2min then pour a cup of cold water part down the spout and then mostly around in the top of the pot. Its gotta be a proper coffee pot cone-shaped and with a lid. The cold water sinks to the bottom taking all the coffee grounds there as well. It actually works if done right and is a great way to have several people around for the occasion morning coffee together on the beach for example.
@ that’s just exactly what i needed to know - i am now on the hunt for the right pot too 😁
that's GOLD - right there -❤
We gotta do an expedition next year and get some spectacular drone footage. Thanks Steve.
with promo material like this, how can you not come?
The record for gatherings of SCAMPS is held by the boats at the first Red Lantern rally in Port Townsend, that was eleven, and I think that the Small Boat Festival at Port Ludlow half an hour south of there might have had ten. But the numbers are growing apace, so who knows what might be possible.
Thanks for the brief Ross, gives a few options re. weather 🐋
hey I just checked the booking thing, you gotta book the entire thing, it's 157 dollars for 8 beds. I think I'll just tent. looking forward to it!
enticing - would love to be there❤
Thats tomos dad guys and this is the best youtube channel trust
Amazing! I hope you got back ok.
that looks like a very nice machine! good explaination too I learned a few things!
waiheke to whangarei and back in one day thats fast
only you could make a video about salling to buy a sewing machine and make the whole thing interesting!
haha yea thats a point maybe I should have talked about the furler I got as well but that might not have been so interesting. Hope to make some better vid's in the future
Love your work Ross! What a great machine...you'll have fun with that.

Was the Hartley TS12 there?
no I dont think so
Great winter sail!
Thanks Ross. So cool seeing North Cove. All the bits I missed when I was a lad. Happy sailing.
Ahoy , Thanks for the winter weather update Ross 🙏 Great sailing conditions when you can rely on a constant wind and a winter calm / then to an empty bay to Anchor 🐋 Thanks for sharing...see ya soon. 💫
We on our couches don't have a 37 foot trimaran to brave the big seas that would swamp our dinghies.
Thanks Ross that was fascinating..
Hi friends ❤
Very interesting, well done! Thank you!
nice one Matiatia crew, 🐋
Good on you Ross, another great video - you certainly do have salt water in your veins!
awesome vid - you guys are doing it !
she really is a good boat with an enclosed cockpit and being able to carry kayaks, great for expeditions like this.
Thanks Ross. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Ross what a beautiful location for a gathering and 4 Pathfinders. I really enjoyed it, cheers Paul

haha gotta have a laugh sometimes. We lucky dinghy nuts.
Thanks for sharing. I get to see quite a few scamps, but seeing all these boats on the water is inspiring. Looking forward to seeing more long steps, and other pathfinder stuff too.
