Wow ! would loved to have been there for that recital. Being from Liverpool and having visited the Cathedral many times, I cant remember it having that much fantastic reverberation, was it all natural or slightly "tweaked"?

I DON'T LIKE IT. They don't have the soprano part anymore and they have totally changed the piece to almost unrecognizable. It was much more beautiful in their old video, with an amazing and awesome soprano voice, and following the original version.

Not me rewindind 03:30 to 03:37 to hear that weird note I'm not quite sure I like. I'm so sure it's on purpose but I think what you grow up listening to affects your baseline enjoyment, it's def a lot different. I def wouldn't say bad. I'd say different. Not so smooth on the ear 😂 but soooooooo amazing to enjoy this masterpiece in a new way, having only ever been exposed to one variation since childhood. Thank you for sharing

Pietro Alfieri's botched transcription of the composition, from 1840, became the universally known version, even though it's different from the original. Here we can hear the original. Alfieri's botched version sounds beautiful on its own right, but it's not the original. It's not the one that was originally sung in the Sistine Chapel (nor anywhere else before the 1840's). While it's a serendipitously beautiful-sounding mistake, I think it's still a shame that it became the best-known version (and for most people the _only_ version they have ever heard).
