Ronald Hatfield you can certainly replace your Switch Box. But I would do everything you can to confirm it’s not re-useable before ripping out the old one. You can find the same switch box on eBay all the time, but the price kinda ranges.
I have a mercury 115 thunderbolt and an 800( 80hp ) I need the same harness for both. All the wires are dry rotted and there seems to be no salvageable wires to splice it. Do you know anyone or somewhere with reasonable prices. I'm ready to cut the plug open and try to make it work because I can't allow myself to spend 150 bucks for 2 dollars worth of wire considering all I'm trying to do is make sure she even runs before I waste any more time and money if it turns out to be just another mud cutter.
Kimchie48 go to amazon and get tinned (marine grade) wife and replace the long runs yourself. You can reuse your ends with the new wire, just tedious but not too hard.
you cannot service the plug yourself. Best bet is Amazon if you're still looking.
My son bought the harness for inside the motor,an the outside harness coming off the motor down to the battery should be double wrapped,you should be able to find good wire in it to splice on to all the way up to the switch,that's what we did,hope this helps.
You need to not use the red wire on the harness, use the red jumper wire from rectifier positive to the red switch on the box.
Jessie; Could you tell me what the number of your boat side harness is. I have the same internal harness but didn't get the boat side harness with the motor.
