I don’t think anyone looking to start at solo board games will ever search for an answer on UA-cam. I see this question almost daily at Reddit. The thing is that you’re not going to ask the question without having a ton of board games already. And most of those games nowadays already have a solo mode, or have a solo mode published. To recommend board games like in this video makes zero sense. Also you don’t give a useful decision tree.

Funny enough i started with a pretty heavy one, Too Many Bones and it was a blast. I now almost own everything and mostly play it solo. 20 Strong is very accessible and can fit almost in your pocket. As you can guess I would almost recommend every Chip Theory Game. So let me also recommend Final Girl, which is a stressful game but in a good way, such as Arkham Horror LCG and Lord of the Rings LCG. An easier one and probably an IP that most people like is Marvel Champions. Thanks for the video, I will try out Dune Imperium Solo, I only played it with friends till now. I will give it a shot.

I always recommend Warp’s Edge for solo gamers. Once they’re used to playing some solo board games and enjoy the hobby, I recommend Too Many Bones. You had a lot of great recommendations in the video!

Players' Chinese letters seem to dominate every game every time. With those tanks. I want them on my team, but somehow, I'm always on the losing end. They win 10 out of 10 times. It seems that I should be able to win once. Nope.

Great list. I dont have all of those games, but I agree Dune Imperium is fantastic. I prefer the Star Trek theme version of Mage Knight. I own Voidfall, but haven’t had chance to learn and play it yet. It’s top of my list though to learn in 2025.

The deck building is definitely not the biggest part of the game (in terms of how much of the game you spend deck building), but it is a very important part.

I played a lot of games and Spirit Island was the worst experience I had playing a board game. Its hard, unforgiving and in contrast winning does not feel exciting. It feels like a hard day of work.

You can be sure that if one day you fall against a player called "Seu Pai é Frutinha" you won't have a chance of winning. 🤣🤣🤣
