Bio:
Monaye Love hails from St. Paul, Minnesota. She started singing at age 8 and writing at age 11. Her musical influences range from the expected - Stevie Wonder, Jessie Johnson, The Time, Prince, Mazarati and Rachelle Ferrell -- to the unexpected -- The Andrew Sisters who were also Minnesota natives from the 1930s.
Running out of the gate at full speed at 8 years old, Monaye sang the National Anthem at Alan Page's swearing in to the Minnesota Supreme Court in 1993. From then on, Monaye made it her mission to take advantage of every opportunity afforded to her in school. In junior high, she participated in singing contests, joined her school choir and band, continuously learned to play new instruments and learned a valuable lesson: instead of comparing herself to others, she focused on honing her own skills, finding her unique- ness. As her band teacher told her one day, "you were born for music."
By the time Monaye reached high school, she was on her path adding studio recording to her list of musical experiences -- music was her passion and that was all she saw in her future. At age 16, Monaye was offered a recording deal, but was wisely counseled by her mother to turn it down and give herself more time to learn about life and estab- lish her own unshakable foundation.
Monaye joined the Gospel group, James Grear & Nu Friends, recording an album with them that earned a Stellar nomination in 2008. She left the group soon after and began performing solo, open- ing up for major artists like Montel Jordan, Talib Kweli, Young Dro, Sunny Valentine and Twista.
Monaye's debut single, "Finally Home," was borne from the experi- ence of her husband, Eric, returning home from Iraq where he served in the Air National Guard. It's often very difficult for war veterans to open up about their experiences to family and friends when they return, but Eric opened up to Monaye. She encouraged him to write it down for her. What Eric handed her on that piece of paper was revealing in its intensity and so inspirational to Monaye that she locked herself away with his words and emerged with a song that truly cap- tures what it feels like for these men and women when they come home after serving their country. Through a series of connections, "Finally Home" caught the attention of the Obama administration, as well as, various armed forces and veteran's oganizations who have offered their full support.
Monaye joined forces with Producer Pepe' Willie, signing with his label, Reo Deo in 2013. "Finally Home", the first single release from her upcoming label, will be released September 10, 2013.

Finally Home Lyrics:
Finally on the way back home
I'm finally on my way back home
I'm Finally on the way....
Yesterday I battle hard I finally let down my guard
Standing here imaging where I've gone and where I've been man I miss my closes friends
Bullets flying everywhere I'm doing things I did not dare I'm sending up a silent prayer emotions running
Everywhere knowing that I'll soon be there
(Chorus) I'm finally on my way back home,
I'm finally on my way back home I'm finally on the way
To wipe the tears from their eyes,
for them to see that I'm alright (I'm alright)
No more worries sleepless nights stay encourage hold on tight I know that this was a long , long fight,
(man) Momma what you cook today? I smelt your food from miles away (smells good )
No more talking on the phone sorry that you felt alone like Dorthy said No Place like home
(Bridge) Taking a deep sigh I'm standing on the rule no man left behind
360 security
I'm finally home embracing my family
(Chorus) I'm finally on the way back home (I'm finally)
I'm finally on my way back home (Back Home)
I'm finally on the way
I'm finally on my way home
No more talking on the phone
I miss you baby I love you I'm finally on the way
I'm Finally (I'm finally) Yes I'm finally
I'm finally on my way home. I'm finally on my way , Finally on my way home.

I bought the album a few years ago and I have been jamming "Better Than You Think" constantly for years... Great Track. Without great mentors like yourself there would have been no Prince!
Hard to believe that her and her brother Dane are black or part black.

Mr Willie. True friend to Prince. Love for that.
I hope that they have this CD at CD warehouse or 2nd and Charles cuz I'm definitely gonna grab it.....
WOW...just listen to that rhythm guitar playing....genius....
I have this blue label cassette tape.....
Prince was as great as it gets...
Rest in heaven Mr Nelson, you will always be my hero no matter what......
I think that I saw this video the day after Prince's tribute on the 2010 bet awards where Patti labelle brought the house down with Purple Rain and it was magical the expression on Princes face cuz he looked so proud and reflective...
Any new music? Really like your performances guys&gals
does anybody know weather they remain friends?
Michelle 777 I just read an article where Pepe talks about how tight he and Prince were in the early years of Prince's career. They had a fallout but eventually made up. Then Pepe went to watch Prince perform in 2007 when he was doing the 21 nights. He went backstage to say hi and Prince just said hi back and carried on, didnt stop to talk. Pepe was disappointed as he thought Prince would be pleased to see him but he said he noticed he had changed and become all show business. He said it happens but he still thought Prince was great. Pepe had not seen Prince or had contact with him since that meeting but said he was very upset when he heard he had died...Pepe still had the good grace to pay tribute here at this award. Pepe also said Prince was a user.
Pepe was always so smooth on his records.
These vids are serious jewels. But as a side note, they really should have gotten the lady on the left something more showy and stylish to wear for this. Outside that, both women sounded sweet.
Great performance !
Beatiful and touching.
Beautiful voice. beautiful song
