I missed the first story. But all I can say about this one is, why are some mothers such "peace keepers" that they have to interfere in other people's lives and decisions? How well does that ever work out? This isn't some Hallmark movie with a sugary happy ending, not when you're dealing with toxic people who lie and manipulate. I agree with OP's wife that they should take some time to cool off and think it through. This mom at least acted with good intentions. L lives alone and there was no one there fighting. The next day the neighbor went back to L and said she has diabetes and didn't take her meds the previous night. So yes, diabetes can make people act strange.

You should take his last name no Hyphen just straight his last name. When you hyphenate most times people just use one of the two when they are reffering to you rather then say the full double last name. And of you are going to have the kids have his last name , then you having a different last name can cause all kinds of problems with schools, goverment, doctors, i can remember the headache it was for my growing having a parent with a different last name. The parent with the different last name wpuld have trouble picking me up from school woth out the second parent calling , filing out forms at the doctor with out the second parent there. this is the problem with modern society, it's skewed the roles of men and women. If this story is true then, while his wife is undoubtedly at fault, he is also equally at fault too. He's a great father, and provider but there is no sense of authority, guidance, leadership from him, It is his job to lead his wife and cut off these external issues with don't positively contribute to their marriage.
