RV Corner Shower Rod Install
Переглядів 1,1 тис.Рік тому
Replacing a shower in an RV usually results in hours of research to find replacement items that fit due to odd heights and sizes. In this RV we decided to keep the already small space as open as possible and use a curved shower rod with a shower curtain, liner and splash guards instead of a shower door enclosure. It looks and functions great! We like this shower rod since it does not have the c...

RV shower - interlocking vinyl tile install
Переглядів 47 тис.2 роки тому
In our current RV renovation, a 2013 Wildcat Maxx F282RK, we decided to redo the entire bath/shower area in order to make better use of the space. One of our favorite finishes for RV showers is interlocking vinyl tiles, we have used tiles from a company called Dumawall in the past but this time we are using a product from Palisade. Check out how our install went and turned out and we hope you g...
Our new propane fire bowl - first camping trip!
Переглядів 1903 роки тому
We finally settled on a fire bowl for our RV! And after our first trip we could not be happier with our choice. This little fire bowl is about 19" diameter and super easy to set up. We ordered the extra carrying bag as well since the fire rocks leave a dusty residue everywhere. It was perfect to set up on our toyhauler deck/patio, it was pretty chilly at night and it gave a lot of heat ( and no...
5th wheel hitch upgrade!

We FINALLY upgraded our old, clunky loud hitch to a B&W Trailer Hitches RVK3270 Fifth Wheel Hitch! And after last weekend 1200 mile trip the verdict is …WE LOVE IT!! Tom spent a lot of time researching what hitch to get and we are not disappointed with his choose. It is super smooth easy to hook up and much lighter to take out of the truck bed then our old was. We will also install a pulley sys...

Beautiful work!
Man if you stuck to making these videos they would have blown up! Great videos man wish you had more would love to learn more of your tips and tricks/style
This is an excellent video. Did you reinforce the wall behind the redguard? Our shower has just the lauan thin plywood and I was concerned that maybe it couldn’t hold the weight of the tiles for an install
This was a great how-to video. Thanks for making such a simple, step-by-step tutorial!
Nice work. Tile and grout for rv dont mix. They crack with movement and heavy. The peel and stick lol. Love that hat Lets go Broncos Orange Crush
Thank you! It's a good product that looks great! Yes! Lets's go Broncos!
Beautiful work; chocked full of great ideas
Thank you so much :)
Can't understand why your likes and comments aren't through the roof. I searched for how to build light cabinets for travel trailer and I found your content. Beautiful work!
Thank you so much for your kind words, I'm not sure ...but I have a feeling it's becauce we are not that great at working the whole technical side of UA-cam and social media. Happy you found our page! Please share if you have subjects you like to see videos about.
I've been contemplating a small RV remodel and have been looking for good How To's. All I've been finding is the before and after. Love this vid, it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Well done!
Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know 😃 good luck with your renovation, let us know if you have questions 😊
Joints GLUE??
Did you remove the interlocking tiles & replace it with this, or is this a different rv from 2 years ago interlocking install? Thanks, great video
It’s a different RV 😊 and we wanted to do a different look. Still love using the interlocking vinyl tiles in our Reno’s but this is a close second!
You all do the best renovations I've ever seen and I've seen alot if them.
Thank you so much :) we have a lot of fun redoing these RV's. We are currently working on a 5th wheel renovation but not posing much on YT about it, f you are on Instagram we post much more about the reno progress there.
question, what thickness of wood do you use for the face frame 1/2 or 3/4 don't recall hearing that.
Did you mention what size wood you used for the frame? I’m trying to see it but I can’t really tell what size. Some look like 2x2 but idk the others? Tysm 😊
Thanks for sharing. I’ve never seen this 1/4” plywood technique or heard of float strips.
You are welcome, on our job sites the guys fabricating and installing countertops makes templets like this, if you work on RVs you know the walls are never plumb so its easy to cut something and the fit is just soso, this way you don't have to worry about wasting material :)
great instructions. What kind of wood do you use for the frame: 06:45 (the long (horizontal) piece)? Is that the same wood 3/4" as you mounted at the doors at 06:22?
Pls bring back your how to videos!!! Would love to see some keystone rigs (2005-2013) that you improve so I can see the tips and tricks
Hi! Thank you and we are working on more how-to vids. If you are on Instagram you can see a lot of shorter videos with tips and ideas as well. We are currently working on a full renovation on a 2016 Jayco Pinnacle that we show on IG and Facebook as a well 😊
Where do you put your shampoos etc
On the edge of the sink or floor of the shower. We just didn’t install a shampoo rack, find they look pretty worn and rust fast.
If only all UA-cam tutorials were this clear! 10/10
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a nice comment 😃🙏🥰
Hows it holding up? Can you use vinyl grout instead of silicone?
Great! That’s not what the manufacturer recommend so we would not use it 🤷♀️
@@rvingdogsandwine2027 thanks!!!
Nice ❤
Thanks
KING! Thank youuu, exactly what I needed.
Thank you so much! Happy you find the video helpful :)
Did you use chanelling on the inside corners? Thus hides all the imperfections on the edges like crooked walls
We choose not to as they look bulky and awkward in the corner, on the outside we use white Schluter edges as they are much slimmer and neat looking. But its all preference.
Where did you get that splash guard? I can't find anything like it anywhere.
Watched and planned cabinets in my van reno for a year. I watched LOTS of videos. I used yours to build and everything went as planned. Great, straightforward instruction.
That is awesome and thank you for sharing 😊 happy our video was helpful to you!
I use aluminium sheet folded for all cabinets and doors in my van. Cover them in vinyl wrap which can be changed in a few minutes to suit any decor. The best part is it’s lighter than you can imagine. I’m monitoring my Sprinter weight as I progress and my target of adding 500kgs is still within reach.
The silicone between each tile is a little excessive
Up to you if you choose to do silicone in the joints or not, how come you think it is not necessary?
Literally says on their website to do it that way, bud.
Exactly 🤷♀️
@rvingdogsandwine2027 not only is it not necessary it's actually bad. You are creating a sealed area that can't drain. The definition of a mold growth area. The red guard will prevent water from getting through. Those tiles need to be able to dry out 😊
@@jmgraydzvery fascinating little theory you got going there. Pls elaborate how you came to this conclusion 😂
Looks good. Could you provide a product name or link to the specific setup you're showing here. Also what did you do to the existing holes from the enclosure?
I am not a woodworker. However, I want to DIY some cabinets in my camper van. You are the first UA-camr that has made this project seem doable (and I have scrubed through hundreds of videos) Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
Thank you for reaching out and letting us know :) We love that we can help and make it easier for subscribers to achieve their projects, if you have suggestions on topics for videos that would be helpful please let us know. Would love to see how your van turns out!
Go Broncos! Getting ready to build out a box truck. Your video is excellent! Thanks.
Awesome! Thank you! Go Broncos!! ….maybe next year 😆
Really interested in how you built your L shape dining bench. I am wanting to to build a ( wish I could show u a pic of my inspiration) an U shape in the dining slide out with 2 pull out drawers and also a removable top.
Next time we have a remodle where we build a corner bench we will make a video as there are a lot of you guys that has been asking :) Stay tuned!
What were the panels made of? Sorry, I didn't find that part. 😊
Check the video, Tom explains what materials he use :)
Nice job. I’m fixing to do cabinets in my “new to me” rv. Good video!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a nice comment! Good luck with your renovation!
Would love to see a video of the tiling process. Do the tiles withstand the earthquake travels?
Tile install for an RV backsplash is on our list for videos to make. We have not had any issues so far 😊
Do you change the method when doing lower cabinets? Larger stock?
We use the same material and method for our lower cabinets, they come out really strong so we have not found a need to increase the stock size.
what is the PRICE of RV for sale
This RV sold a while back, we are currently renovating another 5th wheel RV that will be for sale in the late spring 😊
What wood was used for the project? And what size finish nails?
We use pine since it’s lightweight and the appropriate size finish nails for the parts being nailed together
Good fix. I juat bought the Elevation 3612 and noticed the heating issue right away.
Thank you 😊 It made a big difference!
Iam sure it did. I will be implementing the same fix in the spring. Do you still own this Elevation camper? @@rvingdogsandwine2027
Thank you! As a newbie to woodworking this helped me a lot. I love the video
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and let us know! We appreciate the feedback and hope to get more subscribers that will so we can create more videos! If you have suggestions on what topic we should cover please let us know!
thanks for the great video, I have been researching Palasade tiles, some sites say you can install over the wall tiles, would you recommend?
We have not installed it over existing tile so would not be able to advice on that, sorry that for watching the video 😊
Any issues with overlapping the lip of the shower pan? Did you say Red Guard? And polyurethane?
We installed the shower pan so the lip was plumb with the wall and the tile would install flat and not have a bow :)
Great video. Do you have one for lower cabinets with draws?
Thank you! We don’t have one doing drawers yet BUT stay tuned, we are planning more How-To videos and that is one of them 😊 make sure to subscribe and you will see when it comes out!
Great! Already subscribed. We are starting a full caravan build next month and love the way you’ve actually made the cabinets light weight
What kind of silicone? If I'm not mistaken silicone breaks down or has a life of about 5years. Elaborate if you are a pro
100% silicone sealant has been an industry standard for decades. According to the manufacturers specifications the life expectancy is more than 5 years 🤷♀️
Did you over hanging the vinyl tile over the shower pan tile flange or did you run it all the way to the shower pan?
The tile needs to overlap the pan flange and we held the tile about a 1/4" off the pan, that connection gets silicone
Excellent craftsmanship, Tom! Well done!
Glad you like it! Many thanks 😊
I just started full time rv life and am finding out just how many pieces of the inside of a trailer are junk and fall apart after any road trip. Thanks for this video. I am making plans to deconstruct some of the weaker interior (cupboard doors, drawers and slides) and reinforce it for heavier use. This video definitely helps
Thank you for your input and enjoy your new adventures!!
its gorgeous, much nicer than my house.
Thank you so much ☺️ ❤
This is a very useful video. I was scratching my head to know how to approach the lightweight cabinetry and now I see it. Build a lightweight frame, use luan 1/4". The factory kitchen cabinet in my Class C is all 1/8" luan with very little framing. Such a cheapo build. I want to take it apart and rebuild it more robustly. Ditto for wardrobe. This is a wonderful guide. It does look like you are using masonite board and not plywood luan. This is not a good material for a motorhome. Masonite board is compressed cardboard, and absorbs moisture readily. It is very, very porous. Plywood is much stronger and less like blotting paper. If you ever tried to polyurethane masonite board, what does it do? Drinks it up like a sponge. Use plywood instead.
How thick are your side and bottom panels?
They are 3/4” frame with 1/8” both sides so they finish are about 1” overall 😊
What an outstanding demo! Clear steps, soothing voice, clear visuals, showed us the tools, and best of all, NO MUSIC!!! What joy. That cabinet is just beautiful. Looks easy to make but the measurements are the key, and like you said, planning. I see how that making the bottom hollow section higher will accommodate puck lights at the bottom. This is the planning part. I would leave that false ceiling loose without gluing, to have access to puck light wiring at all times.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your feedback! We are currently taking suggestions on other RV reno topics for videos as we plan to make more of them!
Looks great! I'm not American but have been watching a ton of RV videos with a plan to buying one for a big Road Trip next year. One thing I've noticed is that RV renovators like yourself always seem to make RV's look really nice, whereas the manufacturers always use horrible and dated colour schemes even in the latest models. Why is this? Do RV manufacturers not have interior designers who understand modern design trends?
No they don't. It's all about cheap and ugly seems to be all they know. Thank goodness for people like this who can make them look amazing.
Sorry for the ultra slow response time! Hope you have found an RV you like for your big trip! SOme of hte manufacturers are trying to stay a little on trend but as you say most keep producing interiors stuck in the 90's lol
@@Trailrider070 Thank you <3
