2024 wrap up! Lessons learnt and looking forward into 2025.
2024 wrap up- Lessons learnt and looking forward into 2025.
In this episode, we take a step back to reflect on our first year of podcasting. We talk about the highs, the lessons we’ve learned, and where we’re hoping to go next with the podcast.
We dive into our permaculture journey-sharing the challenges, the wins, and how we’ve had to revisit and revise our goals along the way. We also get real about what it’s been like to balance personal commitments with community involvement and how that’s shaped our experiences this year.
Gardening has taught us so much, not just about nature but about life. We talk about embracing imperfection, learning from nature’s cycles, and the patience it takes to see growth, whether it’s in the garden or in ourselves. We also reflect on reassessing our career and life goals, the importance of building community, and the foundational lessons that have kept us grounded.
This episode is all about growth-personal, professional, and everything in between. Join us as we share what we’ve learned about mindfulness, sustainability, and finding balance on this journey.

Had the same issue , I thought maybe little mice might have eaten the seeds . Corn and beans not happening for me at the moment , keep trying I guess 😊🌿
May want to adjust your volume, the intro had good sound but the podcast is way too quiet
Thanks for the feedback, i'll let Jo know.

no matter what happens -- don't ever delete these. I want to start homesteading in a few decades and these need to be available when I start ;-;
Aww what a lovely compliment. Is there anything specific you would like us to explore more?
Thanks for the recommendations. 😄 I have been following Liz Zorab for many years & we were organised to meet her & visit her garden in 2020, but of course our 8 week planned trip to Europe & the UK that year had to be cancelled 😩
oh no! How cool to be able to meet her. Maybe one day? I wonder if she is coming to the Australian permaculture convergence in 2025? - Alysse
Your recommendation are valuable and pertinent!
Love this chat with Hannah

Awww, that was so cool to have pop up in my UA-cam feed. Thank you so much for having me on your podcast, I had a really great time.

Great episode! Lachie brings so much to every conversation!
He is such a joy and happiness bomb. Such high vibes.
🤩🤩🤩
So refugee camps dependent on UNHCR aid are self-sufficient, dont make me laugh. Plus the camps will have many plastic bags, imported food as well. I think, in general, it is very hard to be self-sufficient, especially individually. Maybe theoretically, if one owned a large farm and a wind turbine and was next to a free flowing (clean water) stream/river. But the world is too interconnected for us to be truly self-sufficient
It's very interesting to think about. Megs conversation sparked a convo about it on social media and we were talking about being self sufficient in a certain veggie or even re-defining what self sufficiency is. Maybe there is another word we should be using instead when we talk about self- sufficiency?
Love it connecting with the nature is the best thing to relive stress
yep! we agree!
Fantastic Ladies I hadn’t realised you had join forces and sending your Great messages out into the world 🙌 Loved listening Sending Love and a Huge Congratulations 🎉🍀🍄🌻
Thanks Carole! Hope we can catch up with you soon.

Nice. Jo suggest call that room a studio?
Studio it is 🙌
Hi ladies, just found your podcast and just listened to this episode. I did the intro to Permaculture with Brett and have done an online PDC with Permaculture UK during Covid and found I could totally relate to the feeling of imposter syndrome. We have recently moved to Queensland where we are on 40acres with a raised Queenslander for renovation and I can say the imposter syndrome has crept in several times. Just trying to take it a day at a time and currently trying to design out property but definitely feeling like I’m not good enough. Loving your podcast and looking forward to following your journey.
So glad you reached out to us. Please don't feel like that. I think any small step or effort is a step in the right direction. We learn from trial and error. We are at the beginning of our journey and had the nerve to create a podcast, so can totally relate to the imposter syndrome! haha. Just try and tune into the voice that says "good on you for giving it a go" and work on it becoming louder than the imposter syndrome voice. We would love to see some pictures of your place. If you jump on our FB group we can connect in there too. :) Thanks for listening and messaging us.
Loved it :)
Thanks Brett!
Thanks guys, loved chatting with you both..... as usual :)
Love this... and loving the idea of barter system...
Thanks so much lovely!!!
Its the journey.... love the excitement for projects :)
Thanks Brett, all fuelled by your PDC!
