Is the Logitech Z506 a Good Desktop Speaker System? (Sound Test vs Logitech Z625)
The Logitech Z506 is a 5.1 surround sound speaker system that was launched back in 2010. Now 14 years later, is it a good option for people looking for desktop speakers? Although these speakers were discontinued by Logitech, you can still find them on the used market for a good deal. Even after all this time, can it compete with the Logitech Z625, one of Logitech's most popular desktop speakers right now.

When comparing both speakers, I made sure to keep all the variables consistent. The Windows volume was set at 70%; the video volume was set at 100%; the speaker volume was set at 50%; the subwoofer volume was set at 50%; and both speakers were being recorded form a distance of 2 ft.

I have a pair of these speakers that are 14 years old and still going strong. I want to hook them up to TV to get true 5.1, but the audio decoders that use hdmi/optical audio 3.5 mm have become hard to find. Edit: I got proper 5.1 audio of out my Z506 by buying an HDMI Audio Extractor that outputs to 3.5mm or HDMI.
I would be curious to know which Hdmi Audio Extractor you found?

Z625 Sounds like its got more oomph to the bass, but i like both
Those should work just fine with surround sound using the three audio ports. I have a Logitech X-530 from 2004, and the Z-906 both are setup using the three audio ports. You would have to play around with the Realtek software to get everything to work. Second, you have to make sure that whatever you are using actually is 5.1. For Netflix, you have to pay more for surround sound. UA-cam doesn't support surround on PC, but works from a TV. For games, you may need to select surround from the menu as it's not always on my default.
Ohh I see now. I did test them using the realtek audio console on windows 10, and everything seemed to be working well. I'll have to test with games, since I've really only tried for UA-cam and Netflix. Would you happen to know where I can stream or watch 5.1 enabled media? Thank you so much!
@@vaguebit9686 Man my last comment was way off. I looked back at the back of your MoBo and you do have surround. Above those connections (mic in and line in ) are the Rear and Center/Subwoofer along with the main out or Line Out. Line out is your front left right.
@@feeterican I apologize, the motherboard photo I included in the video was a random motherboard photo I saw online. My motherboard unfortunately doesn't have these ports. If you're curious it's an Asus TUF Gaming B450M Pro

u shouldnt have used canon mic at all, useless.
Really regret buying the Z333. The audio sounds muffled, the trebles suck, there isn't enough high, and it's like there is only a medium woofer without tweeter in it. The subwoofer could be better.

Probably for people thinking "Is the Z625 that much better than the Z333, and is spending the extra $$ going to be worth the difference in sound quality?
that last test had me feeling like I need up grade from the z333 to the z625s. it sounds more punchier, clear and downright better.

En In the minute 6:49 the difference in sound is more noticeable, as one sounds more superficial, and another deeper (bass) and clear (satellites)

how the hell did the Z333 go above double the price over time? I bought this for $33 back in 2018 and my brother bought a Z625 later in the same year. yet the Z333 marked up to $70 now and the Z625 is still within range of its original purchase price around (purchased at $134 and now goes for $145 at the same store, so just above $10). unless the internals changed for the better (like they finally used additional tweeters instead of just fake ones and a sub upgrade), the new pricing doesn't make sense considering the price comparisons with the Z625.
truth, i got it at £39 a good number of years ago and now i can't even get it below £73. I was going to recommend it to my brother but now i'm not sure what would be a good recommendation for his setup
Many computer accessories went up after the pandemic even if those models got older. Logitec speakers got more expensive, all old models (in NYC too)
3:29 and 6:05, I have the Z333 and it may lack bass but it's enough for my room, but I will definitely buy the Z625 by next month! Or do you have any other recommendations other than the Z625 for the same pricing?
i've owned the 625... it's probably the best 2.1 set-up for this price... i don't want to spend money but after watching many reviews i'm going to have to do it again
if i’m not mistaken he actually has the z623, the z625 has “Logi” branding, not the full “logitech” name. I have it personally so I can attest. i also work at a micro center and sell these left and right. unless this an earlier version which has different branding (feel free to correct me) but given the minuscule differences between the 2 there’s no big deal.
The "Logi" logo is actually in the newer models of the speakers. There is a z625 also with the "Logi". The "Logitech" logo is from the older versions
@@colinr5817 you’re right, that’s just the newer branding. I think the only difference between the 2 is that the z625 has an optical input and the z623 doesn’t. they’re both the same RMS and construction otherwise.

Its like ure comparing the mic with this setup.. why are u switching the mics on each song before moving to the next song? U do that for mic comparisons Not speakers. For speakers u switch the speakers, and then change songs. U can do the mic switch at the end of the video playlist like u did to the speakers in this vid

Z623 is more deep than z5500 z333 I nothing for quality
Z625 sounds way better imo the highs are more noticeable and they just sound cleaner in general also the bass with the z625 is incredible but the z333 is not bad at all it’s just my opinion. 👍
