24 Handbell touch at the RW Centenary
A touch of 100 changes of something like Bristol 24, and presumably some sort of link method to get back into rounds from the mega tittums course (CO 234567890ETABCDEFGHIJKL). Rather amazing stuff, and it had never been done before, not bad for having only practised it that morning.
The band, I think, was
1-2 Jenny Butler
3-4 Mark Eccleston
5-6 Philip Earis
7-8 Philip Saddleton
9-10 John Hughes-D'aeth
11-12 Paul Mounsey
13-14 David Brown
15-16 David Pipe
17-18 Tom Hinks
19-20 Alex Byrne
21-22 Simon Melen
23-24 Michael Wilby
I can't remember who was on 17-18, 19-20 and 21-22. So apologies if that's wrong. I can't even remember the 12th person.

Hunston Bells
Переглядів 28114 років тому
The first minute or so of a quarter peal rung at Hunston, Suffolk. They're an ok 5 but the ringing can easily run away. They're in the middle of nowhere, and the church doesn't have electricity. Thankfully, a local came and ran an extension lead to his home and we had a light. It wasn't particularly substantial, so we also lit candles. How very romantic...
Bardwell, Suffolk Bells Ringing

Part of a fantastic quarter of plain bob triples on this recently augmented 8. They're an ok 8, and we rang the back 5 up in peal (really well I must add) and they sound very nice indeed. There are strong opinions as to whether or not these should be rung quickly, this is a relative slow performance compared to others I've rung in, and I think they sound nice when rung at a slower pace, ie, this.

Ringing a few rounds before an unsuccesful quarter peal of a shiny new doubles method - St Gwen the Triple Breasted - attempted on the great Lady's feast day.

Part of a banterful quarter peal of plain bob doubles, on this 5.
Swaffham Prior Bells Ringing
Переглядів 73814 років тому
Ringing at Swaffham Prior, an interesting village in which there are two churches in the churchyard. I tried to point this out, but the ringing got shit after the first rounds, so I stopped it. But anyway, what're they ringing? A prize to the first correct answer. (except MartynMcFlyC, he is not allowed to answer)
Stedman Doubles from Bottisham, Cambs

A touch of Stedman Doubles on this 6, half muffled. Started off not too badly, then went downhill. Note the large sheep.

2 Leads of Bristol Major on the back 8 at Bow whilst waiting for the rest of the group to turn up.
Original Doubles from Gt Finborough

The start of an unsuccessful quarter of 50 doubles m/v/p. We went for 41 afterwards and scored, however. These are rather nice, but perhaps a little too loud.
Grandsire Caters from Stroud

The start of the 3rd attempt at some Grandsire Caters on this nice 10. We rang some excellent Grandsire Caters with a different band here, but I didn't record it sadly. Nice 10. A pikey nearby did try to steal my laptop; alas he failed. It was a bit of a dump really.
Ringing Rounds at Painswick

Ringing some rounds on the 12 at Painswick. Everyone seemed to say these were terrible, but I didn't think them to be that bad. We didn't really have enough to ring all 12 well, which was a shame. They were perhaps a little indistinct inside, and the video seems to make that quite apparent - I don't remember them being as 'blurry' as they sound here, particularly the back end.
Ringing Cambridge at Cam

A bit of rubbish Cambridge Minor rung on the 6 at Cam. I don't really remember them that well, which would suggest they're nothing particularly special.

Original Doubles Rung at Horringer
Переглядів 62014 років тому
Ringing a 59 or so of Original Doubles at Horringer, Suffolk. This was on the back 5 of the 8. They're a characterful ring, and have had a peal of 10000 Kent TB Major rung on them in the early 20th century.

Ringing Down at St Mark's, Cheltenham
Lovely bells.
What lovely bells: I am surprised.
These bells desperately need tuning.
Why’s that
cast by john taylor bellfounders in 1994 tenor 25--1-11 plus a sharp 2nd also in 1994
they look tougher to ring than Hingham MA!!
treble is john taylor bellfounders the rest abraham rudhall tenor12-3-26 there is also a service bell
Tenor Sounds like the 11th at st Mary redcliffe
let me know when you doing the bell. tower
imoen testicke we'll fascination which church. bell
and I live in Hingham my name is oliver
These are rather good! They remind me of Ripon, Solihull and even Cheltenham Minster!
hohoho taylors st marys are also taylors 2017
6 bells cast by abrahm II rudhall in 1823 tenor 9-3-16cwts
They were nice in their own way although they now sound much better.
These sound nice. Have you ever heard the bells at Burwell?
Suffolk?
amazing!
They now have been augumented to 8 and retuned and the cracked tenor recast
I've heard these are difficult... They sound rather heavy too!
I quite like that discordant treble... Adds character! 😀
THIS IS ST LAWRENCE
@irkibby And what is wrong with St Peter's, St Albans?
whst the fuck
What the hell is your problem!?
i dong get why a church has a tune for each day
1: 1790 2: 1716 3: around 1520-1530s 4: 1621 5: 1734 6: around 1424-1482
Lovely tower! I did tower grab in 2010 my first night in London -- uh... ever! I am 'out of practise' ringer stuck in San Francisco, where believe it or not, it is actually ILLEGAL to ring actual church bells in that city! Thus NO RINGS! So no ring -- NO practise (on tower bell)! I rang with band over there whose name I believe is 'Friends of Dorothy Society (FODS)' The only LGBT band I know of on planet! (BTW anyone there offhand know their website of contact info? (I since lost their info). I went to Wiki and found their entry and weblink, it is false, wound up with some Japanese website regarding men cheating on their spouses! As I have English ancestry and some other European, (I was born in Switzerland) from Japanese ancestry as well, this accounts for Japanese name). Nice tower, but exhausting to get to RC from below (tower is in need of small lift)!
Moving in to the village soon, hope I don't have to here that to late at night! lol [iminent=JUZVUAgUWfOB]
You do
Need to boot the odd-struck ringer off the 5th for a start.....what a thrash
Break out the Andrex...... What a racket, bells tripping over the bells in front.
Had the pleasure of a peal here myself, 3:17, bit slow, sounded better when we sped up towards the end!! Fabulous bells
Caston, Norfolk??? Is there a cottage there called Ladybird Cottage??
Rung my peal here in under 3 hours! fantastic sound.
I remember this well.. i'd have stood it up after the first lead.....
Nice bells, and what a fascinating view of the clock!! Tewkesbury is about as far away from Swindon you can go in the G&B, and is the one area of the G&B I don't seem to have been round yet!!
Am I in this?
Nonsense! They're a fine ring of bells! You won't find a better-sounding ring in the world. tongue sticking out face They're a minor ring, yes.
@timmeh1507 Nice 8 these. I sat through a whole peal here (justr for the grab would you believe!! I did a whole school project in the church to pass the time!!!) and wouldnt mind a return visit.
@timmeh1507 I think these have now been moved upstairs!!
Sound nice!! Tetbury in Glos are also famous for their clock chimes!! Trouble is clock wires get in the way as they criss-cross all over the RR, particularly by the 6!! Nice 8 there though, especially considering the back 7 are all maiden untuned Redhall bells from about 1722!!
when I rang there I thought they were breathless for a modern job....yes they are ok but overrated...there is something odd with the trebles I feel.
@timmeh1507 Yes, there is a glass wall there!!!
Bloody beautiful!!
These sound fantastic!! The half-on-half-off muffles sound weirdly mournful, not bad at all to my ears!!
Is that a radiator??!?! lol
Would that "something" be Cambridge perchance!! (2:27)
@Whittingtons 41-3-21 in C
@timmeh1507 Could have come here on the AGM day in April, but went to Avening, Woodchester and Minchinhampton instead!! These sound nice though!!
@KDowner94 Bob Doubles isn't too bad - I have called two quarters of it, (rung in about 4 or 5 in total, 2 at Rodbourne Cheney, 1 each at Imber and Shellingford, maybe another somewhere else) and in Doubles all but one of the bells are affected there, and in any given Grandsire, all but one of the bells are affected!! Still, Stedman is good for keeping you on your toes, rang well on our bells, Stedman Triples is an excellent method!!
@simonbellringer Why, thank you
@timmeh1507 And a cheeky glimpse of some new, clean sallies too!!
