3 weeks ago SCAM ALERT- Fraudulent activity during online room booking Got in touch with Jay Prakash ( not sure if this is the real person though the person I spoke to claimed to be one) and Manish Kumar (in whose accounts payments were received). Spoke to them for room booking. The supposedly Jay Prakash asked me to transfer Rs.3100/- for 2 night stay. The account is in the name of Manish Kumar who was identified as Account Manager. After receiving the payment he issued me a receipt from Sri Janaki Trust that said Payment and Booking pending. FRAUD - 1: Jay Prakash further informed me that I had to make a payment of Rs.3000 + Rs.100 separately because of which their system is not taking my booking. He refused to refund the earlier amount I paid and asked me to first make the payment and then take refund.I suspected something fishy but he assured me there is no foul play and refund would follow. Stupidly I made another transaction of Rs.3000 and Rs.100 separately. I LOST Rs.6200/- in total at this point But there is more to come. After paying total Rs.6200/- this guy tells me your payment is still not confirmed and refer to the receipt that says - Verify with UPI application No 39081. Please note very carefully from hereon FRAUD 2: He asks me to open the Gpay app, click on the initial Rs.3100/- payment and click on Pay again. Put the application no 39081 in amount and put in note UPI verification. I got stalled at his audacity. I told him if I put 39081 in amount the next screen would be PIN and then the entire amount would go to your account. He blatantly says, amount would get debited but it would not come in my account as he has blocked his account. At this stage I told him this is completely fraudulent. You cancel whatever bookings you were doing and refund my Rs.6200/- immediately. He hung up multiple times, and I kept calling till he told me that your refund will come in 10 min and yes that led to next scam FRAUD - 3: I get an SMS - Received Rs.31000 credited to UPI He frantically calls me. On the face of it this appears to be a usual message we receive on getting credit. He also sent me a screenshot of the payment done through Phone Pe. I checked my account - There was no money received. And why would he pay me Rs.31000/- when the amount due is only Rs.6200/. I checked the SMS - this has come not from Phone Pe or from any Bank. This has come from a personal number and Truecaller tells me that this number is of Jay Prakash. There are also other grammar errors in the message. So this guy drafted a message similar to what Bank's send and sent it from his personal number to me, faking that he has sent the money. His next move would have been to make me believe that because higher amount has been paid by him, I should refund the balance amount. Understanding now what I got into, I called him back and told him I have not received any money, to which he says you have received a text for payment confirmation. I told him its a completely fraudulent message. And now he tells me - you have to send your PAN card to get the refund. I asked but you said you have already refunded, to which he had no reply and hung up. People I lost Rs.Rs.6200/- in the process. There is no booking confirmation nor is there any refund. But the way the entire episode happened I could have ended up losing more. This happened with me and can happen to many more people PLEASE DO NOT RESORT TO ANY ONLINE BOOKING WITH SRI JANAKI MAHAL TRUST.
