I can't speak to Jarod Mayo, but Pierce was NOT a DEI or Rooney Rule hire. He pulled off a bunch of wins at the end of last season, including one against KC, IN KC on Christmas Day, and while some people are going to say that the Raiders craptasitc season was all on him.....he did not get a fair shake. He had the worst QB room in the NFL, and honestly not a lot he could have done differently. He had some of the worst level of injuries in the NFL this year (and honestly the worst year for injuries I can recall for the Raiders organization). And probably the biggest issue was that of Offensive Cord. He selected Kliff Kingsbury. Kliff wanted 3 years, the Raiders higher ups would only give him 2 and he walked. Since this happened after all the hirings, it meant that all Pierce had left was to select an OC from what no one else wanted.
