Very informative review. I have own both Gravity and K&M products, my experience is that both brands have good and bad products. I can also say that Gravity's packaging is considerably better than K&M's. With K&M I often get products that are marred (scratched, dented, etc) whereas with Gravity I've never had that problem. For Microphone stands I really like K&M's chrome-plated variants. The boom arm is rock-solid and doesn't droop even when holding a heavy microphone fully extended.

Hey Derek.. ☺️ I’m about to order the Tama MS205 Chrome mic stand, do you recommend it? Or is it cheap and nasty? You mentioned some stands use plastic inner parts, which are no good for friction.. does the Tama use plastic? 😏I’ve been looking for a chrome mic stand for ages… I can’t seem to find this Tama stand anywhere to buy in the UK 🇬🇧

Probably, Two days ago i heard you guys in Edinburgh! I was crossing the street with my partner beside Waverley station… bagpipe struck us and we were stopped there listening to the sounds…. Lastly we missed our flights and stayed one more day …. Probably it was you guys who played that day!!!!❤

Maybe its only me but as a drum major, tenor drummer and base drummer can not grasp anymore why the base section is moving all the time , they seems nowadays being more poi dancers, do not get me wrong but 40 year ago we played music and the tenor section spoke to the heart, and was deep Feld, Now is just beauty before music it seems. I know I will critics on y comment but reality is still what it should be, even it is my reality give a loud bang so that the all pipe band enjoy. if the base goes wrong all the rest will do so too. You are all good in what you are doing and the sound is angelic to my ears, but do not forget the root base where it al growed from, just one thing to add and do not take it as offence asfore may pipes do the same the base section looks like automats or robots no feeling for the music just scores to go true

This takes me back to 1983 at the Princess Street contest. We had been practicing for our time to compete in Grade 2. There were 4 or 5 kids listening intently. The snare were playing modified Ludwig’s with an added bottom snare. Nice but flat the judges would say! One of the guys said he wondered who they were. The Pipe Sergeant said they were probably with a cheesy juvenile band! The boys all heard him & laughed among themselves! About 10 minutes later Boghill Marched past by. & their we saw those boys looking right at us. Oops!

Edinburgh competition isn’t the Worlds, that’s at Glasgow green bud. Now for judging time The band sound nice in the March. Felt the last part was played forcefully at times. Strathspey is nice, but some parts don’t fit well between snare and pipes. Reel sounds great on the pipes, snares sound like they are behind the pipers at times, not a lot of dynamics coming across. (Could be my earbuds) All in all, great performance. By no means am I an accredited piping or drumming judge, nor am I trying to upset the band. The judging but is my opinion, and means absolutely nothing
