Pep boys in my area is hiring starting lube techs at $16-$20 an hour. Which is pretty shitty. I have a lot of tools but nowhere near this many also don’t have a cart. How can you afford the extreme box and all these tools? Are you paying off a tool truck loan? Is this what Pep boys expects a 1 year tech apprentice to have? Right now I have a little under $3k in tools. 13 different semi pro quality ratchets. Mostly husky craftsman some power torque and Pittsburgh pro as well. Locking flex, full set of regular 120 tooth gunmetal craftsman, swivel head, stubby, non locking flex extending flex head, a super long 3/8” with 1/2” impact sockets, 1/4&3/8 six point chrome sockets. Bolt biting sockets. Hex sockets, Allan and torx wrenches. Extensions adapters universal joints and wobble adapters in various sizes, Pry bars, a slide hammer and bearing press tool. A cheap craftsman obd. Some Mac flex head 6 point wrenches, craftsman ratcheting twelve point, a set of regular no skip combo wrenches from Walmart. Offset wrenches, then some random wrenches like a 24mm flex head and a 5 piece cheap 12 point flex head set. I’ve got a bunch of pliers, knipex knock offs, locking pliers, needle nose, dykes. Tons of screw drivers, a small set of snap ring pliers. Punches, lady feet pry bars, a craftsman obd tool. A mid torque battery impact and extended reach ratchet with 4 batteries. A dead blow and a 3# steel hammer, An air impact and die grinder. I take it I don’t need to bring my floor jacks or jack stands or engine hoist. I have enough to fill a us general 5 drawer cart but nowhere near enough to warrant that large extreme cart. How much experience did you have when you started, and at what wage did they hire you on? I’ve done an engine swap, lots of brake jobs, timing belts, accessory belts, alternators compressors, power steering pump replacements. Wheel bearings, Ac work. Spark plugs/ tune ups fuel injector cleanings and replacements, transmission fluid and filter changes, brake bleeding and fluid changes, radiator thermostat and water pump replacements. Is $20 the best I could ask for? It’s hard to survive on less than 50k a year I couldn’t really imagine making 40k and having to spend 5-10k the first year Alone on a 46” box and tools to fill it. That’s more like 25k a year after expenses and taxes.

Just for the record there's no need to remove the bumper to change the headlights. Just leave the screws on the bottom and you can just push the bumper down to gain access.

Best of luck I worked at pep boys and its a pretty fucking terrible company from my experience. They pay their techs like shit and are really behind with the times.
