Levelling a Folding Camper or Caravan - Side to Side and Front to Back
Seen posts on Social Media channels recently about issues people have been having levelling their Folding Camper, Trailer Tent or Caravan. This video shows how the process should be done. Starting with getting the Side to Side level done before moving on to Front to Back.
It's important to note that Corner Steadies are just that, they steady the unit once it's level. They MUST NOT be used to raise the unit as this can cause damage to the steadies, damage the chassis and also give Folding Camper users issues with door opening.
Before you use a spirit level on the A Frame you need to confirm that reading conforms with those taken from inside your camper or caravan. By placing a spirit level on the floor or a work surface. If this level shows the same as the A Frame device then you can continue using it. If the readings are different then you need to find another place to fix the spirit level so you can access it when levelling. Opening the door and placing it on the floor is probably the best option.
Having a level Camper or Caravan will also help make sure that the Fridge works correctly, especially if being run off gas.
Thanks for watching

Problem with the hinge on the Front Locker of Bessie our Conway Crusader meant I had to do some creative fixing to ensure I didn't have to spend over £190 on a replacement door. A few hours work and the door is now probably better than it was when new. Year later and the hinge is still working fine and no worries about it falling apart. #crusader #pathfinder #frontlocker

    • @BessiesTravels

      Normally this is due to the brackets being slightly bent. We just use the weight of the bed to pull it across when folding it over. At some point will look to get a new bracket. Tends to happen on the front bed if the transit cover isn't rolled up properly and gets trapped when opening so putting a strain on the bracket.

    • @BessiesTravels
      @BessiesTravels Рік тому

      Thanks for watching - each skirt takes 8 pegs, if you follow Isabella instructions then the awning needs 36 as they say each door opening needs 2 - but this can be reduced to 28 without compromising the stability of the awning. Then the skirt along the side with wheel cover needs 5. I’ve got 40 rock pegs, around the same in red plastic ones, 20 screw in rock pegs (not used these yet) and some metal awning carpet pegs that get used for the carpet and side skirt - Enjoy the Crusader as we certainly do 👍👍

    They’ve started doing this near where we live. We didn’t get to go this year, but definitely want to. This was so cool. Loved the one with the reindeer on front!! Cheers 🍻

    So jealous, great views from the left hand side of the train, luckily the passenger on the left hand side sent me his footage on WhatsApp of the train going over viaduct on way to Mallaig, great footage of the train coming over viaduct

    Great video, you saved our milk and bacon as i didnt realiese i had to hold down the dial when igniting the gas. I just wanted to ask, if we were to leave our house with chilled food, do we turn it onto to battery mode when driving to keep everything cool until we get to destination? We’ve been buying food when we arrive then chilling it but we’d prefer to take meals with us from home Thanks

      Sorry for not replying sooner, no notification from UA-cam that there was a new comment. You need to pre chill the fridge by plugging into mains before leaving. Fill up with the food and then switch to battery. Battery will only maintain the temperature and not chill it further. Once on site plug in EHU or change to gas. Mike

    Thank you so much for this video and information! I was desperately trying to drain our holding tank in anticipation of an out of the ordinary cold snap, and couldn’t find the relevant information in manuals or other searches. Saved us from a burst tank/plumbing!

    if there's anything that sums up how mankind has f****ed up the planet, the electric window cleaner is it. Compare the environmental damage of this monstrosity with the equivalent wash rag. Otherwise, Nice job!

    Very interesting, how long does it take you to set up the camper?

    • @BessiesTravels
      @BessiesTravels 2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching the video. Around 20 minutes maximum to have the main unit ready to use. Then 10 minutes to peg out the skirts if we’re using them. Awning another 40 to 60 minutes depending on wind and pitch conditions - Mike

    Hello Mike I enjoy watching your channel because we are looking into deciding on getting a folding camper, we have plenty of parking space but don't have a garage. please can you tell me if they are easy to store out side or are they better stored in a garage during the winter wet months .

    • @BessiesTravels
      @BessiesTravels 2 роки тому

      We stored our old Pullman outside. Make sure the standard cover is sound and has no holes. Then we put a Kampa Winter cover over it. Used an upturned bowl in the middle so that there was some air and created a dome to allow the rain to run off. Did this for 2 winters and had no problems. If really worried then could use a tarpaulin as well. Mice can be another problem so plenty of tissues soaked in peppermint water or tumble drier sheets will help to deter them

    Hi Mike,Can you tell me the sizes of the waste pipe you have used please?When we tried to fill our tank it took hardly any water even after draining any ideas?Thanks Ross

    • @BessiesTravels
      @BessiesTravels 2 роки тому

      The filler for the flush fills quickly with probably less than litre of water. You just have to keep pouring and it will keep filling. Should take over 10litres of water and using the extra funnel attachment makes it easier to fill. When making the video I had misplaced mine

      Size of waste pipe will follow once I can get at it to check

    • @BessiesTravels
      @BessiesTravels 2 роки тому

      Pipe is standard 28mm caravan waste pipe and I used a T connector and 2 elbows to make up the waste pipe. Pipe is normally sold by the metre so I bought 2m so have some spare. Ends just push into the outlets and is far better than the pipes that came with the camper

      @@rosswilliams945 yes 90 degree equal elbows and all should be available from local caravan accessory shop or online

    Thank you for explaining everything in this video. Did anyone test how effective the fridge is when its in 12v mode? I believe mine doesn't function at all. I did a test when battery was 12.7 volts. Let it run for a day and battery is still 12.7 volts. Outside is 24 degrees celsius and fridge is 21.5 degrees celsius. I'm not sure if fridge really reduced the temperature or it just took longer to heat up through the day because its door was closed. I also measured the heatsinks (Aluminum parts that should get cool and cool down the fridge) and they are also 21.5 degrees, I believe they could have been colder.

      If you mean the black glass panel then it came fitted to Bessie when we bought her. So guess you could get one from Pennine Outdoor Leisure or use any toughened/heat resistant glass
