    The bodies of those who have died return to dust and undergo destruction. But their souls neither die nor sleep, because they have an immortal character, and immediately return to God who gave them. The souls of the righteous are then made perfect in holiness and are received into paradise. There they are with Christ and behold the face of God in light and glory while they wait for the full redemption of their bodies. The souls of the wicked are thrown into hell, where they remain in torment and utter darkness, reserved for the judgment of the great day. The Scripture recognizes no place other than these two for souls separated from their bodies. At the last day, those saints who are found alive will not sleep but will be changed. All the dead will be raised up with the very same bodies, not different ones, though they will have different qualities. Their bodies will be united again to their souls forever. The bodies of the unjust will be raised by the power of Christ to dishonor. By his Spirit the bodies of the just will be raised to honor and will be made like Christ’s own glorious body.

    You think those pigs were expierencing REDs as well? What's a life review really gonna teach them? Are they even capable of moral reasoning? Do they have a concept of god? I find it hard to believe that they get to see a light that tells them that they need to go back to earth to fulfill their destiny, only to be send back to a lab where their heads were artificially kept alive by humans. If REDs were also happening for pigs, those poor piggys not only died by beheading, they also had to watch human scientists come in hours later to pick up their heads and bring them to some lab where they were revieved by electro shocks. Why would any pig decide to go back to such a life?

    Gentlemen, with all due respect, you cannot know what life is through matter. First of all, what is consciousness? Consciousness is the content that is remembered in the organism, and which reached the organism through the senses. What we call self is memory. A reaction to a memory is a thought. Thought without memory cannot exist. The content of human consciousness is selfishness, ie: fear, sadness and pleasure. The mentioned feelings are the product of thoughts and they have no independent existence. Human consciousness is the same (fear, sorrow and pleasure), therefore there is no such thing as individual consciousness. Life and death are one movement (if I move my hand, the previous movement must die in order for a new one to exist). If we perceived the previous as truth, then the question arises, is there an energy that is not of time? Here I would like to separate the organism - matter (including the brain) and the mind. For me, the mind has nothing to do with the body (with time) and it can be in contact with the brain only when the brain is absolutely still, that is, when it does not translate what it detects through the senses into its memory, more precisely when it does not function mechanically. Then there is a true perception of anything as it is, because the brain does not distort perception according to its conditioning. That perception is the peak of intelligence, which has nothing to do with intellect, from intelligence comes compassion and love. Therefore, nature, i.e. the consciousness of the mind, is made up of intelligence, love and compassion, i.e. it is an inseparable movement that is outside of time and therefore eternal (actuallity cannot be contained in the brain and therefore it is not a movement that originates from the brain. Only when that movement is memorized, then he becomes from the brain). I wouldn't even be able to call it consciousness considering that movement is always new, never old, its existence is not conditioned by anything, it has nothing to do with memory (they can use memory but it is not movement originate from memory). That movement has no couse, it is everlasting new, it is an instant perception that does not collect anything, pure energy.

    There is NO life after death: Scientist insists afterlife is IMPOSSIBLE THERE is NO life after death, according to one well respected physicist who claims humanity has to abandon all fanciful beliefs and focus on what the laws of the universe dictate. Sean Carroll, a cosmologist and physics professor at the California Institute of Technology, believes he has put the debate surrounding the afterlife to bed after extensively studying the laws of physics. Dr Carroll states “the laws of physics underlying everyday life are completely understood” and everything happens within the realms of possibility. He says for there to be an afterlife, consciousness would need to be something that is entirely separated from our physical body - which it is not. Rather, consciousness at the very basic level is a series of atoms and electrons which essentially give us our mind. The laws of the universe do not allow these particles to operate after our physical demise, according to Dr Carroll. He said: “Claims that some form of consciousness persists after our bodies die and decay into their constituent atoms face one huge, insuperable obstacle: the laws of physics underlying everyday life are completely understood, and there's no way within those laws to allow for the information stored in our brains to persist after we die.” For his evidence, Dr Carroll points to the Quantum Field Theory (QFT). In simple terms, the QFT is the belief there is one field for each type of particle. For example, all the photons in the universe are on one level, and all the electrons too have their own field, and for every other type of particle too. Dr Carroll explains if life continued in some capacity after death, tests on the quantum field would have revealed "spirit particles" and "spirit forces”. Dr Carroll writes in the Scientific American: “If it's really nothing but atoms and the known forces, there is clearly no way for the soul to survive death. “Believing in life after death, to put it mildly, requires physics beyond the Standard Model. “Most importantly, we need some way for that ‘new physics’ to interact with the atoms that we do have. “Within QFT, there can't be a new collection of ‘spirit particles’ and ‘spirit forces’ that interact with our regular atoms, because we would have detected them in existing experiments.” Once this is accepted by all scientists, Dr Carroll says, then they can truly begin to understand how the human mind operated. He said: “There's no reason to be agnostic about ideas that are dramatically incompatible with everything we know about modern science. “Once we get over any reluctance to face reality on this issue, we can get down to the much more interesting questions of how human beings and consciousness really work.”

    I'm glad these experiences are being studied as they may even tell us something about the metaphysical nature of reality. The cosmos may be a unified field of different experiences with consciousness as its foundation (which would mean that the appearance of a brain is mentally generated and indicative of a process rather than an object with standalone existence which generates consciousness). Looking at these studies and the fact that philosophical idealism is more parsimonious and elegant an explanation than physicalist metaphysics, it seems very probable that nature allows for continued experience beyond death (an afterlife) and we may be the eternal witness that undergirds all reality.

    It should be mentioned, Parnia Lab, in response to the gentleman's comments at 48:03 that Dr. Bruce Greyson stated in a past interview that the University of Virginia has collected NDE (RED) reports that predate Raymond Moody's book Life After Life. Those accounts from the 60s and before report essentially the same thing as NDEs (RED) from the 21st century.

    • @tim59ism
      @tim59ism Місяць тому

      Yes but there are many reports pre dating the sixties, too. This really all began when routine (it wasn't a new idea it dates back to ancient times and also many hundreds of years) modern resuscitation became possible around 1960 (Guy Knickerbocker and co). Then you started to have thousands of people being brought back from death and inevitably some of them 'blurted out' their experience (as some people do, most don't though). What I find highly amusing is that doctors and science or science and doctors inadvertently "dug up" the soul that they thought science had buried forever ! Hilarious ! Scientists with their certainties suddenly confronted with something they really wanted to see the back of.

    • @ArlindoPhilosophicalArtist
      @ArlindoPhilosophicalArtist Місяць тому

      Memories are not stored because remembering an experience is a reconstruction of what we think happened in the past. It is always a 'guess' of what happened before, or what we THINK happened-which is never the original state. Also, strong emergence has not been proved at all. All we observed is how mental states appear to correlate with brain states, but correlation isn't necessarily causation. To think so is to commit the cum hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy. The voice on the radio correlates with the electromagnetic oscillations in the radio's circuitry, but the radio doesn't synthesise the voice, it receives a signal. You can see where the analogy is going. The voice exists in a different form elsewhere even when the radio is destroyed. So, based on Parnia's observations here and other research, we can conclude that materialism is most certainly wrong. Reality operates in a different way ontologically and death would be an illusion.

    • @tim59ism
      @tim59ism Місяць тому

      Your question highlights the whole crux of the matter. NDE's, especially those that occur during cardiac arrest (when the brain cannot be functioning, or functioning sufficiently--even with CPR) call into question the assumption that the brain produces consciousness. It's always been just an assumption. However, there is no evidence as to how electrical and chemical exchanges between brain nerve cells (neurons) create our sense of self (the mind) which then creates thoughts. They are such vastly different substances, there is little point in even trying to find an answer to the neural composition of a thought. This means that consciousness may be something else, possibly fundamental and indestructible, which seems to fit much better with those patients/people reporting consciousness with reasoning and memory formation (timed to when they were indeed offline) when their brains were not working, with a recorded flat EEG (no brainwaves). Understandably, mainstream science doesn't like this data, but there is so much of it now, it's going to have to deal with it and not just by handwaving it away as nonsense.

    I do a thought experiment with my students - imagine there is no God - and the universe will die and all will be lost in black holes and NOTHING from your life or your children or grandchildren or anyone will remain or matter. NOTHING you do matters! Good or bad - all will end up gone and forgotten like most of the half dozen dreams you had last night. then picture God, all knowing and all loving. He cares about EVERYTHING you do or think, he can forgive the bad but this means EVERYTHING you do or think matters and changes the universe forever. Your life matters forever!!! I wrote a song long ago about this - WHO WILL CARE? Someday I'll go away, they'll put a tone upon my head, tell me will it anything matter when I am dead? The work the pain the sorry, the dreams you had last night, tell me will it matter when there is finally no light? When on some distant start that last man stands - tell me, who will answer when he lifts up his hands ? Will the cold dust weep or the dead stars cry, when that last man lays down to die?

The doctors used hypothermia to allow his heart to rest and heal. He is now 34 years old with 2 beautiful little girls. All the doctors at UPMC Mercy told me "he has someone up above looking out for him because he should not have survived". Afterwards, I wrote a letter (email) to Dr Becker (who is in this video) and he wrote back to me!

    How has the scientific definition of death evolved over time, and how have recent discoveries in the field changed our view of the process, from basic principles to mysterious phenomena that remain unexplained?

    Great feature. I've always felt that Science will, one day, prove where our conciousness/energy/being moves on to/transforms into/merges with.

    I met a dead man's spirit I'd never met in life. He told me about his murder & where his dismembered body parts were 1st buried & then later moved to. After I told detectives what the dead man Bill Newman had told me & his body was discovered he 'moved on'. He'd 'hung around ' as he wanted his body found so his wife & children could get his Social Security. His conscience was still alert after a yr from his death.

    Near death is not real death🙄
