You chain 70 chains ,70 is standard for everyone. Skip 70 then join in the 71st stitch on the other side of your work and continue with single crochets

The line is not straight because probably you skipped a few stitches In future place a stitch marker at the end of the row so all the stitches at the end is same thus makes a straight line

Hey..it will be great to have it in different colors,I will make some for me To get smaller holes chain 1 skip 1 ,it will give similar results with smaller holes and also use a smaller hook,I used 4.5 you can use 3.5mm hook

Hey…after you are done with the shell stitch at the end just chain 3 and start a row of dc in everything stitch(not inside the shells) in every stitch that creates the shell
