What this Channel is About
Have you ever had moments of doubt, or adversity that felt like an impossible climb back? You are not alone, because I did, and it felt overwhelming. We can overcome, and create our own story.
I was born with a difference that was considered a "curse", a disability with a prescription of inevitable misery with no future. I decided to write my own script, took that adversity and turned it into community and opportunity. My name is Jacob Pacheco, I am a creator and speaker.
My channel posts weekly videos on self-development processes with adventure and creativity mixed in. I love to have fun, create exciting content and connect with you most of all.

Facing My Fears

Facing the biggest waves of my life I only thought one thing: DON'T DIE and GO FOR IT! I traveled up the coast of California to Santa Cruz, one of the most challenging places to catch waves in the world for one of the first big wave contests for adaptive surfing. This trip to Santa Cruz pushed to my limit: mentally, emotionally, and physically I was spent. What I was experiencing was built up f...

    • @pronetoride
      @pronetoride 3 роки тому

      This is a great question, there is a spectrum here and it comes down to quality of material purchased! High end: surfboard ~$200 max Backpack: ~$100 max Wetsuit: ~$400 max Total: ~700-800 for high end, I personally wouldn’t spend this much if I was starting. Low end: Surfboard: ~$100 max Backpack: ~$60 max Wetsuit: ~$225 max Total: ~$350-400 max This is more palpable and affordable Most of the prices listed will last long term (over 12 months minimum) wetsuits will always need replacing. The material does wear out after 18-24 months even with excellent care.

    • @georgefrederick4753
      @georgefrederick4753 3 роки тому

      @@pronetoride sure. I wouldn’t spend more Than 2-300 tops for a first board, used of course. It’s totally ok if it has pressure dings. It’s totally ok if it’s been dinged and patched. As long as it holds water and isn’t water logged. I personally feel like 7-8’ is a perfect size to start with, it’s just enough float to help, but not so much that you don’t have to work a little. Look for cracks, and small dings that look like a rock hit a windshield, most of these can even be easily patched with solar rez. You can even low ball some people if it’s slightly out of your budget, sometimes people are happy to get you into the sport. On the medium to high end, definitely get a custom and work with a shaper they can make you something to fit your size, style and skill set. Expect to pay 500+ for a custom, up to thousands of you choose to.

      I’m glad this came across as candid that’s the reality of the situation. This is “normal” for humans with challenges and differences. It shouldn’t be but it is. The assumptions/judgments/negativity must stop

    Life definitely isn't accessible and honestly it probably won't ever be. But that is what makes us disabled individuals special, when faced with challenges we have to rise above them and get things done. I get those looks too when I pull into a handicap parking spot. I also catch people looking when in public, when they look blow them a kiss or shoot them a wink! If they are going to look I'm going to give them something to look at. Be confident in yourself and I promise it will show to others! We only get one go with life so live it to the fullest.

      Accessibility may not be accomplished in our lifetime. But the others come after us will need access to a better life. Progress is slow but I believe in people, I wouldn’t be here without good people giving me a push and hug 🤗 all at once. We will always continue to rise, I agree and you’re an example T
