I'm looking at getting a Himalayan 452. I'm 6'3. Most riders are shorter than I am that I see online. My last bike was a Victory Cross Country tour, and my first bike was a Buel Lightning TT. I could ride it quite easily and put lots of miles on it when I was younger. So i have experience with smaller bikes.

I noticed that you did not secure the right hand ‘over the top’ strap completely. This was quite likely not an accident . I have purchased 2 sets (A 20 ltr and a 25 ltr). On both sets the nylon strap loop that the metal fastener slips into were too tight. (Ironically both were on the right side of the bag as they are in this demonstration ). On one, it took a lot of hassle to secure it. On the other, it simply would not insert. I didn’t even try the second bag of each set. These were not acceptable and were returned. I’m awaiting replacements for both these sets. We’ll See …Definitely something to check if you order these bags.

OK sir ,,, Recently I had an incident ,,I ordered some things form Hitchcocks including a new spark plug,,, On receiving I noticed the plug arrived in a bag (not a box as normal) it was a Bosch plug,,, Anyway On fitting I started to screw it in with my fingers then put a plug spanner on it AND the plug top broke ,,I had not eveen started to tighten up ,,it just snapped,, first time thats happened in all my life... So I sent a mail stating it must be faulty,,,,,within days they sent me a NGK plug (that cost £2 more then the bosch) and its now fitted and runnin sweat... Even so I,m wondering about the plug,,was it genuine? or just a bad one.. For your information I just purchased a new to me bike ,,,, a BSA Goldstar 650 I paid £3700 its got 500miles on the clock its like new and very handsome bike..... regards sir

2023 Baxter rally I rode my Ural and broke down 3 miles from Baxter , I had a 10mm nut fall off so I sent my buddy to Baxter's to grab one 10mm nut , parts dept told him they don't have anything to fit a Ural ( Ural is metric like Triumph ) and sent him to Atlantic , after a hour I swiped a 10mm off the sidecar and rode in and asked parts also , they replied no Ural parts I explained a 10mm is the same as any 10mm and you have here at Baxter's about 20 thousand 10mm nuts - she wouldn't listen and I never got a nut and my friend spent a hour and a half chasing a part Baxter's had many of , now understand I a big fan of Randy but that parts manager is opinionated without a base of knowledge to back it up and plainly made it clear she could give a damn , perhaps good at some things but really bad at others

I made it to Baxter's in September on my way to Elkader to the Pure Stodge Rally. A 2- fer. Coming from N E Ohio this was my vacation. Great people and staff. They all took extra time to talk and answer questions that I had. My BMW dealer also sold me 2 RE's, but have never tried to over sell me items that I didn't need or want. Not all dealers try to make as much $$ as possible. This is why I trust my dealer and their staff. If you get to Baxter's, you have to see their antique British bikes (museum) in the back room. Not only was this epic, but I happened to meet Fuzzy there while in between trips. What a vacation I had.!!

Short sidestands are beneficial if the tyre goes flat while parked. Longer stands cause the bike to fall over in the case of a flat. 3 guesses how I know this, first 2 don't count.

I very much enjoyed your video Sir, and will subscribe to your channel. I purchased a 2020 Himalayan when I was 67, and am seriously looking at the new R.E. 650 Bear. BTW, I will be visiting my 89 year old father, Chuck Sr. next week, who owned over 22, mostly British machines, including not one, but two Vincent Black Shadows, as well as a Aerial Square Four. He sold one of the Vincents to help keep me in diapers, when he was a poor enlisted USAF Aircraft Mechanic, 😢 later retiring as a "Bird" Colonel, befoe starting second career with TRW Aerospace. He helped start the "Devil Divers" Skin Diving Club in Okinawa, around 1959, and still has over 20 tanks and a huge air compressor, that he built himself, along with a half dozen other bikes.

I will be getting a Himalayan 450 some time this coming spring. If my local dealer does not have one available, I will order one in Hanle Black with tubeless tires. I recently sat on one of the Kaza Brown models, and something that does not come through on the UA-cam videos is that it has a very subdued pattern similar to the Kamet White one. It is the same brown as the rest of the tank, but has a slightly different sheen. I really like those side bags. They have a complimentary style for the Himalayan. Even though the bike leans way over on the side stand, it still feels very stable. You would have a hard time trying to pull it over. The extra lean angle would probably make it easier to throw a leg over the bike with a full set of hard boxes installed. Baxter cycle sells a substantially taller, and wider windshield for the Himi 450 that uses the stock mounting holes. I have also heard that Acerbis is already rolling out a 25 liter gas tank for this bike. Should give about a 460 mile range. Thanks for the leads on budget friendly add ons.

LOL. I just watched your video about the larger windshield, and that is the same brand that I saw on Fuzzy Bikers channel, which he got through Baxter. They make 2 different heights, as well as light, and dark smoked in both sizes, I believe. It really does look like a great product.

The Himalayan 450 looks interesting but I can't buy a new bike now. My old bikes all have a bigfoot on them. I take a 3"x3" steel plate and set it under the sidestand and weld it in place. On my GL1200 my foot sometimes touches the plate but doesn't bother me. I had to shorten the side stand on my XR250 after I lowered it. Cut off the stand and found a steel tube that slipped over the stub. Drilled a lot of holes so I can adjust it. Also has a big steel plate on the bottom.

Hi Bob ,,, before you save thousands think about saving even more by running an old bike,,, I run an old Himalayan 2018,,and intend to keep running until its at least 10yrs old.. There are alot of advantages to keeping an old bike on the road,,more so if you are the first owner... I think one of the most important advantages is the satisfaction of being right in your choice of the bike,,second is because its yours why bother cleaning if you are not going to sell in the immediate future.Thousands saved !!!!. But back to bags,,, yeah I looked at these bags ,but decided on a pair of Lomos which are about the same price.. Wrong choice..Do,nt buy the Lomos for your European trip they are RUBBISH .....

The reason the side stand leans too much was explained by an RE engineer. The length was decided when the bike was being developed but after the length was agreed the bike was given increased ground clearance . They had already got the casting set up for the stand and left it as it was. RE stated somewhere that they were working on a solution to address the problem. When I asked a dealer they knew nothing about this. So, make of that what you will, oh...you already have, fair enough

Must be an American thing because the model was the highest selling motorcycle in New Zealand in May 2024 and is called the new 2024 Himalayan and registered as such.
