The Lord roars, and Amos shoots straight and to the point. God is the judge of all, and all will answer to him. This means nations that don't even recognize his lordship will have to give an account. In this episode of Sermon B-Sides, Pastor Jon and Pastor Rusten discuss the relevance of Amos for our world today, the calling of a normal "Joe" like Amos, and the universal Lordship of Christ over every nation.
We hope you enjoy, and as usual, if you have any questions for Sermon B-sides or anything else, email us at pastor@coramdeochurch.org

Sermon B-Sides - E120 - The Nature of Idolatry and the Folly of Blameshifting - Exodus 32
Переглядів 17Місяць тому
The golden calf incident in Exodus 32 is a paradigm for idolatry in the Bible. Examining this story helps us understand the nature of idolatry and the ways that we are led into it. The character of Aaron also reveals to us the sinner's tendency to make excuses for sin and blame others for them. In this episode of Sermon B-Sides, Pastor Jon and Pastor Rusten discuss the lessons that we can learn...

    The Godhead Explained: There is only one thing God keeps from Jesus, and that is the hour and day of his return (Mark 13:32). Outside of this, Jesus has the full mind of God; likewise, the Holy Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God through the mind of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 2:10). This is why Jesus said, “all that the Father has is mine, therefore he, the Holy Spirit, will take what is mine and show it to you” (John 16:15). Everything comes from the mind of God, the Father, first and is revealed through Jesus by the Holy Spirit to us. This is the truth of the Godhead. Jesus said he can *_do nothing_* of himself, but what he sees the Father do, that is what he does likewise (John 5:19). For they are one in spirit and in truth.

    Ephesians 4:29 NIV Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Do you think the Christians who lived in Germany and who voted for and supported Hitler ever asked God for forgiveness for the unimaginable pain and suffering they caused? Do you think the words of Hitler mattered to them or did they love his words? Do you think they ever regretted their actions or just regretted that Hitler lost? Do you think the priests that preached from the pulpits that Hilter was chosen by God for Germany are burning in hell now? Hitler - "The ultimate goal must definitely be the removal of the foreigners altogether." Trump -"You wouldn’t believe how bad these foreigners are. These aren’t people. These are animals." Trump -" If I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole. That’s going to be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country." Hitler -" We must care for the purity of [our] own blood by eliminating foreigners." Trump-" Foreigners are poisoning the blood of our country." Trump - "I don’t know if you call foreigners people… In some cases they’re not people." Hitler -" I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: By defending myself against the foreigner, I am fighting for the work of the Lord." HItler - "With satanic joy in his face, the black-haired foreigner lurks in wait for the unsuspecting girl whom he defiles with his blood, thus stealing her from her people." Trump -"These foreigners are rapists and criminals." Hitler -"Humanitarianism is the expression of stupidity and cowardice."

    Though baptism nowhere is said to be baptizing you as a show of following christ. Infact it cleanses you from your sin as a sy.bol.of being washed by his blood. In baptism we die with him.and are raised dead to the flesh but alive in spirit. No verse says baptism is a public sign. Why show these 2 churches instead of the many many scriptures showing it is indeed for the remission of sin. Outside of any and every denomination. The word says what it says. Christ didn't lie when he said in John 3:1-10 that none will enter the kingdom without being reborn of water and spirit. As for claiming that it won't save you or that those who haven't been baptized are fine. Again nowhere in the bible is that said. Calling verses problematic?...truly?...they all work together just fine. It is only problematic to those trying to make it support their beliefs instead of making christ and the words he spoke their beleif in the first place

  • @Shawn-q3x
    @Shawn-q3x 5 місяців тому

    God first, and then Jesus: God is the one who created Jesus and then made him a creator for our sakes. God is the one who loves us so such that He sent Jesus as a way for us to return back to Him. God is the one who sent Jesus to seek and save that which was lost. God is so loving, but will never give His glory to another; yet He will share it with all those who love and obey Him-this and much more to those who know that the Father is our only God. Jesus who has God’s power and spirit living in him, of his own free will [choice] laid down his life that we may live forever (John 10:18). Jesus loves us so much that he washed us from our sins in his own blood (Revelation 1:5). Jesus, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God (Revelation 3:14). Jesus has told us all that we need to know in order to be saved and reunited with the Father. Jesus loves the Father and us so much that he told and showed us exactly what life eternal is: it is knowing the difference between the Father and the Son (John 17:3).

      Idolatry is the worship of false gods, which the Bible later identifies as demons... Deuteronomy 32:17 introduces this through the use of parallelisms. They sacrificed to demons that were no gods, to gods they had never known, to new gods that had come recently, whom your fathers had never dreaded see also Revelation 9:20 (NKJV) But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk no contradiction when you understand the usage

    Let's imagine you earn $100,000 as your Gross/W2 Income. Let's assume you live under a government regime and taxes 90% of your income, your net income would only be $10,000. If you give 10% of your "Gross income/before taxes" to the Church, your income would be zero, leaving you with nothing to live on. Taxes should not be equated with everyday expenses like a house, car, or the internet. In reality, you are not actually earning $100,000 as it's not a true reflection of what you earn. In this case, your earnings are $10,000 to live on; it doesn't matter what on-paper your salary says or looks like.

    THE DELIBERATE SIN OF THE MIND LEADS US TO HELL. Every man on the earth has and will sin, except Jesus who has never sinned. Those who are true to the will of the Father will unwillingly sin, and they will repent for their transgressions. To deliberately and do premeditated sin defiles the glory of God and makes us impure. Repentance is required by all people: sinners and believers alike. God will only hear the prayer of repentance from sinners, and when we unwillingly sin that is included as well. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [10] If we say that we have not sinned, we make *him a liar, and his word is not in us”* (1 John 1:9-10). Those who say they do not sin are calling Jesus and the Father as liars, and the truth is not in them. We all must repent and strive not to deliberately sin, for even those of God offend others (James 3:1-2).

    Jesus has a God and a Creator: Why do so many people read God’s word without his Holy Spirit to guide them? What sense does it make to read with our own understanding, but then deny His word? Those who do this will surely end in hell. The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God *gave* to him, was to show his servants things which must shortly come to pass (Revelation 1). All of these things says the Son _of_ God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire (Revelation 2:18). Jesus said “him that overcomes will I make a pillar in the temple of *_my God…_* and I will write upon him the name of *_my God,_* and the name of the city of *_my God,_* which cometh down out of heaven from *_my God:_* (Revelation 3:12). Jesus said to the angel of the church “write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God [Jesus himself].” He knows their works are lukewarm, for they deny that he was created (Revelation 3:14-16, Proverbs 8:22-36) and the power of God the Father. Jesus is the beginning of creation. Then, God the Father made Jesus a creator once he was possessed with God’s power and spirit. Only those who believe Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and all who love God that begat [the Father] love him also that is begotten of him [Jesus] (1 John 5:1).

    The Great Mystery and why so many will go to hell: The Pharisees were shocked to see that Jesus knew scripture without ever being taught by man (John 7:15). Jesus always mentions his Father throughout the Bible, but just like the Pharisees people continue to reject God's words through his Son. This is because people are not _truly_ reading his word for understanding but rather to verify their own interpretations. Jesus said… his teaching is not of his own (John 7:16-18); his words are not his own (John 12:49-50); his doings are not his own, but only what he sees the Father do and has taught him (John 5:19-20). According to Jesus, not man, Jesus does nothing without the Father, who loves his son and shows him everything that He himself does. Yet man rather sit around and listen to other’s interpretations of God’s word rather than God's words through his Son (John 14:24). There is no such thing as “three gods in one;” there is only one God, the Father, and one begotten Son, Jesus Christ (1 Corin 8:6), and they love one another with all their hearts.

    The underlying lesson or one of them, is that even the evil leaders were placed there by God. For even the devil himself regardless of worldly power only exists to do God's will, for in his power grabbing the face of God is shown in the devils iniquities and false teachings stemming from the enemy. It's beautiful. God uses the darkness to shine brighter

    Decent amount of evidence that it was copied and read in household churches of Jewish Christians at the time. As that was how word got out, copying by hand and moving from one to the next. It was how lessons ND messages from the church forefathers got to the Christians at the time to give them news or admonish or congratulate them on how they conducted themselves. This was evident in all the letters from Paul. Scribes and fellow Christians were Tasked With copying the letters word for word. In a few of them the scribe is identified as Thomas. In others as friends he made in prison who now followed christ and possessed the knowledge to rewrite letters. The answers to everything we need to know is in the word.

    I've been saying this a little in the past few weeks - and this is a year old - but where has this type of thing been all my life? Even especially in an ekklesial setting (a believing church assembly). Seems like, with fiat economic collapse & in the wake of covid dictatorial hijackings, we have a bit of a homecoming. It's a homecoming to factually knowing & reckoning with our social world as it really is - not as we've pretended it to be since Plato and especially since the late 1800's. It is an uncomfortable and inefficient awakening, yet it's freedom. I'm looking at the IMF's 'Unicoin' and simply imagining what they're imagining. To whatever extent the central bankers & posthumanists are successful or not, it will likely collapse into a nightmare either way. And it is a worldview battle. We definitely need a better and more honest coalition agenda to take the place of CBDCs and any darwinian-posthumanist-style thinkers who may have sway (we don't need Social Darwinism 2.0 refined down to the individual level).
