    I was wondering if there is an add on for the progress bar on the main page next to each deck showing how many are learned/new. I tried the enchance main window add on but it just gave so much information and totally changed the set up of the page. So just wondering if there is a way to keep the normal layout and add only the progress bar. Thanks !!

      Hey! I haven't been able to find an add-on like that yet. I had similar concerns to when I first upgraded my default view to the Enhance Main Window view so I totally get it. If I do wind up finding an add-on with similar functionality and will be sure to notify you and make a video on this if I am able to do so!

    Hey, I came across your channel through your video on syncing Anki across platforms, and I have to say, I really like your style! Your content is great, but I think you could reach an even wider audience by expanding it beyond just med school topics. I’m not in med school myself, but I’m using Anki for my studies, and your insights have been super helpful. If you make your content a bit more universal, I’m sure you’d attract even more viewers. You’ve already got the dedication and discipline, which is impressive-I’m confident you’ll be successful!

    Hi, just starting out. Why do you say not to hit hard for unsolvable ones and instead go for again and good? Does the fsrs has a different way of treating hard cards?

    • @FixerMed

      Sup yeah the documentation states that hitting hard and easy can mess up the algorithm at times so you're better off going for again and good.

    • @FixerMed
      @FixerMed 23 дні тому

      That's super weird. Is that also the case with your left joycon? If not a simple fix might be to forget the device from your bluetooth device list, reset your iPad/iPhone and see if that works. If not comment back and I'll try to come up with a more robust solution. Might want to try testing the Joycon on other apps to see if the button input detection issues are confined to Anki or to other apps (like games, a quick app to test joycon button detection would be an emulator like Delta on a GBA game or something).

      Hey Lauren thanks for watching my video. Hmm thats weird but there's a few potential fixes that might work here. Make sure your Anki and Contanki are updated to the latest version. If you have done so already try turning your computer off and on again and try re-mapping then to see if the changes will be fixed. If not go into Contanki's file folder (Tools -> Add-ons -> Contanki -> View Files -> Profiles -> Click on 8BitDo Micro). Adjust the settings manually in the profile config file if nothing else is working. I will attach my configuration to a comment below so hope that helps if nothing else works. Please let me know if it shows up as I don't know if the filter will allow it lol.

      Unfortunately the creators of AnkiCollab completely took down the Anking V12 deck from their platform. Best bet now is to either sign up for the scholarship program for AnkiHub or to use another deck like Mnemosyne for Step 1 or Janki for Step 2 CK. I know this isn't ideal but if this situation changes I will be sure to let you know by uploading a new video to this channel on the subject!

    Thank you for sharing this video! I have a question, I have a windows (dell) computer and have been trying to set the 8bitdo zero2 up for like two days now... I've watched so many videos and cannot get past the "controller not detected" response when I try to configure the Contaki add-on. My computer won't show the 8bitdo as a keyboard option, only as a game controller, unless I turn it on using the R-start. When I turn it on that way, it connects as a keyboard but I can't figure out how to switch it to the X input mode so it'll work. I think the default mode is Y-input and I can't find a way to start it as x input while turning it on in a keyboard compatible mode. If I start with x-input mode by turning on with x-start, I can't connect as a keyboard. It just doesn't show up as an option. And in that regular mode, it won't connect with Anki. Do you know how to fix this?

      @FixerMed Місяць тому

      Hey Jerry thanks for watching the video. Hmm that is certainly odd. I can think of a couple fixes that might be able to help you here. First the easiest method here might be to upgrade your Anki version to the latest version available if you haven't done so already. Also consider restarting your computer to see if that might help you out. Next up try connecting other bluetooth devices to your device to see if the devices can be paired properly. If all of that works properly, consider connecting your controller to your computer via a wired connection through USB C to your device. I know the wired connection seems to solve the issue for most people when doing reviews but its definitely not the most ideal way of handling this. You can also try utilizing Karabiner to bind your 8BitDo Micro to Anki through the K mode connection (aka the Keyboard mode connection). I know this seems like a lot but I tried to brainstorm every way I could to fix your issue lol. Hope this helps and hope you have a great rest of your day/night!

    in 17:39 how would you know whether its active or inactive? (maybe you mentioned it sorry)

    • @FixerMed
      @FixerMed Місяць тому

      Hey Melanie! Thanks for watching my video and great questions! Usually the NBME question will tell you if an enzyme is active or inactive either directly in the question or through a variety of buzzwords. I have compiled a list below from my notes that may help you decide if an enzyme is active in a list below so I hope this helps you! Determining whether an enzyme is active or inactive involves several methods, which can be categorized into direct and indirect approaches: Direct Methods Enzymatic Assays: These measure the enzyme's catalytic activity. The reaction's rate can indicate the enzyme's activity. Common assays include: Spectrophotometric Assays: Measure changes in absorbance at specific wavelengths. Fluorometric Assays: Detect changes in fluorescence. Colorimetric Assays: Use color changes to indicate enzyme activity. Electrophoresis: Enzyme activity can be detected by substrate staining after electrophoresis, showing active enzyme bands. Indirect Methods Western Blotting: Detects the presence of the enzyme protein, but this does not necessarily confirm activity. Protein Quantification: Using techniques like ELISA to measure enzyme concentration, though this also does not confirm activity. Other Considerations Post-Translational Modifications: Phosphorylation, glycosylation, or other modifications can affect enzyme activity and should be considered. Environmental Factors: pH, temperature, and presence of cofactors or inhibitors can affect enzyme activity. Ensuring optimal conditions is crucial for accurate assessment. Genetic Approaches: Mutagenesis studies can help identify active sites or critical residues for activity. Practical Steps to Check Enzyme Activity Prepare a Reaction Mixture: Include the enzyme, substrate, buffer, and any cofactors. Monitor the Reaction: Measure product formation or substrate depletion over time. Compare with Controls: Include positive and negative controls to validate the assay. By combining these approaches, you can reliably determine if an enzyme is active or inactive. I hope this has helped you and I hope the rest of the videos in the playlist are also helping you! If you have any other questions feel free to ask me and I will do my best to reply to you as soon as I can. I wonder how the algorithm compares for medical students vs language learners, since those seem to be the most common use cases. I know as a language learner learning Japanese, I love the idea of less reviews and longer intervals in the long run, but one thing that I struggle with is when making brand new cards (which is the first time I'm learning a new word so it's brand new information), when I pass the card I end up with a roughly one week interval until the next time I'll see it, which seems like a really long time for a brand new concept. However if I fail it and then press Good after, it puts that card at one day until next review. Overall this is a really cool upgrade for Anki, I think I just need to understand it better before taking the leap into using it. Probably overthinking it as well.

    • @FixerMed
      @FixerMed 2 місяці тому

      Yeah speaking from the medical side of things FSRS is definitely a huge improvement over SM-2 for reviews but it seems our sides' focus is moreso on cracking exams rather than incorporating a tool into everyday use from the language user's perspective. I would def reccommend trying it out and seeing if it helps. To do so make a backup of the decks you are using and import them into a new profile. Then on that new profile activate FSRS and see if that has any marked difference on retaining knowledge pertinent for language learning. Either way thanks for watching this video and hope you have a great rest of your day/night!

    I'd love to know what the colors signify. I looked at the config page and can't figure it out. Thanks!

      The colors are basically just themes for the add-on. I pulled the code for the configuration from another user who generated it. Take a look and see if anyone them catch your attention!
