How to throw Soup Mugs w/Cody Trautner
That is perfect thx
rhank you
I assume it gets fired in a wood kiln.
I just started throwing in July. I can't throw mugs but I can throw bowls all day long, so I decided soup mugs would be a great compromise lol. Thanks for the informative video, I'm doing these today :)
That was so smooth, I'm impressed. lol Beautiful work!!
Do you cover the platter with plastic or dry it slowly in a damp box? Do you weight it to prevent cracks as it dries? It is really a lovely platter. Your hint about centering a bit at a time is golden. New subscriber.
lol 😂 I mean I appreciate your desire to build it yourself!
A for effort!!😊
Great video! I’m just beginning to throw larger. Watching when you torch the clay, when you stop adding water is very helpful. Do you carve a foot? Would love to see a trimming video on a rim altered piece like this.
Do you glaze inside the bottle ?
How do you trim it?
Really great tutorial video. Im looking forward to watching your videos
Awesome job! I adore your self portrait!! Thanks for sharing!
Stonewear clay mugs can we microwave?
Using soft clay is good advice. A couple of years ago I had to take a couple of months off because of a case of tendonitis from making a platter with clay that was pretty stiff. I could feel the strain while making the platter and thought "This is not good" but my obstinate mind wouldn't let me stop, so I paid the price.
Yeah exactly using soft clay is better and easier but using other clay with other ingredients like iron and wood and .. give a really beautiful texture that I'm crazy about it
Love your video and technique ✨✨
I love this video. Refreshing explanations in this fild... Good luck with this channel ❤
Thanks so much!
Great video, excellently done - Thank you! Would love to see how you trim a platter this size.

Are you able to do pottery with one hand! One of my arms is paralyzed do to an accident and I’m looking for a new hobby!
Yes! Throwing on the wheel might not be a fit, but tons of other ways of building vessels with clay!!
Appreciate your taking the time to explain hands and pressure. Thank you.
Thanks for explaining the need to let reclaimed clay rest to develop bacteria to make it plastic. Never heard that before but it makes sense.
Thanks for sharing your design considerations and also the fun wiggle wire effects on the base.
Those are just so adorable!
Thank you Cody you read my mind! I am just getting into facets and seeing you paddle before really opened up my brain! Thanks

Is that second mug a shino in a Soda fired, or a glaze?
It's a salt fired piece.
