POP will crumble if water is used in it

not only did your mold release not work your pots will crumble being exposed to water unless you use a specialized water proofing

many people told me that if I use plaster of paris the product can not get wet at all or it will dissolve and break. How long do yours last and how do you water proof them?

i think plaster of Paris is not strong as cement

If I use a layer of plaster of Paris then cement will it crack?

Use cement-sand mixture because POP doesn't have any strength and will break easily. You can apply POP on the cement-sand pot which will give a smooth finish.

Food coloring does not properly mix with plaster of Paris. Be careful. This colorant will always rub off and stain your skin or garments... Just a helpful suggestion. Use cement dye.
