    Good on you for standing up for yourself and your profession. This job can take so much from you, but you have stood strong against the tide of injustice and corruption that is truly abhorrent. They talk about a "no blame" culture and being transparent but I feel this still needs so much work because still no-one wants to take responsibility, enter the scapegoat. Thank you for speaking out Jane this should never happen.

    “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.” - C.S.Lewis Though, I somewhat doubt the sincerity of APHRA. These people seem to be power hungry sociopaths/psychopaths. Events of the last few years have brought this to stark light. It is such a pity that your warnings from 6 years ago either fell on deaf ears, or did not reach the ears that were needed. Imagine if there was a responsible and competent medical regulator in place that operated within a strong ethical framework? Thank you, in arears, for shedding light on these issues.

    😮 thank you for standing up to the AHPRA bullies. Please note; teachers have gone through a similar process. The DoE have hired PES investigators who have intimidated, threatened, harassed and bullied teachers who have refused to take the experimental quaxine. As a result teachers have been stood down & most have not even been allowed to enter school grounds to get their belongings! Teachers can relate to everything you are saying Gary & support you!

    Integrity, masterfully delivered. If I had fast forwarded to around 18:40, I'd have thought he was taliking about any number of Japanese institutions where I have tried (40 years now) and failed, to trhrive as a professional educator, or the U.S. government - which reaches out to me only during the tax season.

    This is the story of an arduous journey that had to be told. If not for the perseverance and love of a mother the result may have been tragic. In a medical assessment, a parent's day-to-day observations and experience with the issue should account for more. Under the circumstances, a good result. All praise to Jasmin and hopefully quality of life for Jack going forward.

    Hi Jane you clearly did not get a fair trial. You seem to be a very caring and wise doctor. My impression from reading the case was that you are prepared to do what all of us ought to do but are too afraid to do (i.e. avoid futile and inappropriate investigation and treatment in dying elderly patients with dementia). In all those 12 cases that were highlighted, it seems exceedingly unlikely that any further investigation/active treatment would have altered the inevitable trajectory of decline, and moreover, would have been not in keeping with the patient and family's wishes. So I am at a loss to see how AHPRA could reprimand you and impose such onerous conditions on your practice. It all seems awfully unfair. One must certainly entertain the possibility that the notification to AHPRA has some element of a personal vendetta against you. I fear that your case and AHPRA's harsh treatment of you may result in unnecessary suffering to patients. Instead of focusing on what is best for the patient and what the patient and family want, I am sure there will be many more unnecessary investigations performed, and futile treatment provided, thanks to AHPRA's decision. Good job AHPRA...

    My mum and I took my 92 yr old Grandma (who had dementia) to the oncologist, and I remember the look of relief on his face when we didn't want to peruse further testing and /or treatment , Grandma looked him in the eye and said "its all good" and a year later she died a peaceful and pain free passing. There was no regrets or blame and I wish everyone the same dignity. Doctors deserve better treatment.

    Reference to slide at 7.51 on video. Does anyone know who the Health Complaints entity is for physiotherapists wanting to discuss issues within the administration of health insurance? (my reports of 4 separate concerns to the PHIO, of patient codes being switched for patient claims have gone on without recourse)

    Excellent- must watch video for any practitioner pre or post peer audit/review. Gold nuggets of information throughout the video. Explains a lot of the motives and reasons why some hinest and integral people get screwed. Dig the well before you get thirsty. Prepare for the day you get reviewed, you will, when you become a successful one day. My experience with a private health insurance company was very sour. Insurance makes MORE money, the LESS it helps people. A HUGE ethical issue.

    This is so true. The stress ahpra has put me under in an unnecessarily elongated process that is punitive, not therapuetic has nearly ended me. Having grown up with a fair amount of abuse, I have LOVED my children with a passion, the love I didn't feel I got. In fact one of them is an amazing doctor! I made a promise many years ago when my children were little that I would never leave this earth of my own accord whilst I have even one of my children walking on it. AHPRA's rubbish process has tested that in the last 2 years. It seems never-ending, it has ruined me financially. I don't see an end to this.

    I'm a health practitioner and I have to say I went through something similar with the State Board here in Victoria before it became AHPRA. The whole national registration was supposed to wipe out rogue boards and bullying/intimidation tactics like this. It seems as though absolutely nothing has changed.

    • @passionfruitprincess
      @passionfruitprincess 7 років тому

      Its possibly worse. The AHPRA process is bullshit. I notified them when I knew I had developed a substance problem after having a gastric sleeve. I went back to the doctor I was seeing at the time & said this (the op site) still hurts. he said I'll give you anything you want. he gave me more endone. he kept giving it to me every time I went back with back problems etc. I developed a dependency. I doctor shopped. I found out 2 yrs later that this doctor was known as The Opiate Doctor in our suburb. So with alot of life stressors, my kids growing up (seriously severe empty nest syndrome), financial problems etc etc. I finally realised my work was suffering & I notified them as someone else had also notified them that I wasn't myself. I wasn't. I was in the grip of opiate addiction. I was suspended for 3 mths which turned into 10 mths with ahpra's bullshit. They take months to resolve anything. I finally got back to work a year ago. I have been wee testing 12 x a month for almost a year. Admittedly, I have stuffed up a few times. Forgot to write things down, ate a hash cookie at a friends 50th, took a tramadol for back pain and forgot to declare it. Everytime you stuff up, ahpra take 4 months to decide what your fate is. I now have a new one. I had to change GPs. Because I didn't get the GP to fill out a CERTAIN form...I have to put in a submission to explain why I didn't. F**k ME. I'm screwed.

    Dearest Jane, your courage to speak up is profoundly admirable. What you have had to endure as a result of exposing/questioning negligence is, as far as I'm concerned, criminal. Even though I've never been faced with courts to put me 'right', I surely know what speaking up is all about! How complicit the union, legal system and others are when working to crush someone who speaks up. Thank you for reminding me as to reasons why nurses and others do not speak up.

    Dearest Annie Jones, I have immeasurable respect for you! Your massive courage and your determination to draw attention to these horrific workplace violations, is sheer inspiration. You have made me acutely aware of what nurses in psychiatric hospitals go through. This has profoundly positioned me to consider psychiatric staff in the stand I make to draw attention to psychiatric patients, families and carers who are also faced with appalling inhumane treatment when they question and make a stand against overt injustices. I sincerely hope that others will follow your lead to expose such corruption across the country. I thank you for this.
