Hi everyone!
Welcome to ThatTurboDakota channel. I’m Curtis and most the time you’ll see me playing with my 2000 dodge Dakota RT. Little by little this truck is crossing over into race car territory. In addition to the Dakota I will take you with me as I have the opportunity to work with my friends on their turbo projects
Thanks for watching!!

Hey there!Your content is fantastic! We have some car related items. Do you accept sponsored products?
They still haven't added this to the website. I wonder if they will make a rear axle set for the 03/04 that will have the 5x4.5 set up? That would be a really nice way to go 5 lug and upgrade in one move.
I’m not sure if they will be normal a production part so they may not add them. As far as rears go, probably not. No market for it and if your racing the truck a lot that 9.25 rear needs to go. C clip axles aren’t track friendly
Any for six lug I Just did power stops
@@jeffreycurtisjr9195 no just 5x4-1/2
Finally someone is making quality parts for these trucks!!! Where do I find these for myself?
@@DriftKota link in the description
What the price on that kit?
@@ronlucci465 1250 for the pro kit and 1500 for the evolution
when u gona introduce the little racer ?
Love your truck! Thanks for the videos they’re awesome and helpful
I got two sets for myself. They are super nice
Save some for the rest of us!! 😂😂 tho if you don’t mind sharing the link to where I can find these or the rear brake kit I would greatly appreciate it.
MASON DIXON!!!
Throw that shitty oil in your lawn mower, get some shaeffers in it atleast
Awesome truck man. That was me in the blue fox on your last pass. lol. Your UA-cam just randomly popped up. Small world.
That thing was moving pretty good!
Nice work! What do you have planned for the off season?
Stay tuned. I’ve been ordering parts
Good stuff! She get down! On your SBE, what's been done just ring gap? Also, what brand, size, and psi are you running on the rear?
Ring gap lol not on this motor… or the last. pte 7675 gen 2. 15 psi in that 10.29 run
What is your total ignition timing? May be throwing some power away through that. I know different dynos show different results but mine made 253 NA whp on a trailer dyno in my d150 with a cam smaller than yours its a 214/218 and i had mine running at 34 total but mine had an dual plane airgap intake and carburator at the time. Engine masters did an intake shoutout and said the engine made peak power at 28 degrees. Just my 2 cents. Sweet build though love the content!
That’s moving
AWESOME!!!
Bearing wear in the distributor.
Currently rewatching this and didn't realize you never gapped the rings , that's kind of impressive it holds together under what 17 or 18 lbs ?
@@nickstephens2913 those motors are built so loose. It really doesn’t even matter. The E85 helps too, keeps everything nice and cool.
@ThatTurboDakota definitely nice to know !
Dude your truck is such a beast! Repping hard for mopar
Ive noticed on journal besring turbos they always make more power with back to back pulls cause turbo gets hot and loosens up
Dude what all do you have done to this motor besides the turbo
Engine quest heads, 230/230 114 5.65 cam, mopar m1 4 bbl, 58mm t body. 100% stock bottom end 360. Very simple
@ThatTurboDakota ok I found the engine quest heads but what ones do I pick? What does 230/230 mean?
Ok that's part of the cam type, where do I find it?
@@ThatTurboDakota there was a guy selling modified throttle bodies on eBay can't find him no more... Any sources would be great thanks again
@@TboneDuggins Hipotek is where you can get most that stuff
Such a cool truck! Keep up the good work. I’m putting a 350 mild cam, with 150 in my Jeep CJ currently
can you make some videos on your jeep?
an idea it maybe save up money and go to a professional and get their perspective on your vehicle as they will likely see something that you are not seeing
You seem to be limited by your rear end gearing.
Curious if there's maybe something wrong with your converter
It’s ok. I watch the slip data and it’s around 8 or 9%
Is this the last year of this setup or you have more plans for the magnum?
@@billmopar yup this is it for the magnum. It’s time to start on the next set up
@ThatTurboDakota im sure you know, but holley makes hemi trans/motor mounts *wink wink nudge nudge lol*
😈
I completely understand your frustration, I tore up 4 5.2 short blocks because of an incorrect flex plate, when I finally found out the problem and put in the correct flex plate, the little 5.2 has been good. My Duster has a billet 7875 from VS Racing, non intercooled with 80 lb hr injectors on E85. How much timing are you running?
@@MostlyOldPartsAndRust way more than I thought I needed to lol 36* at 0 psi and around 18* at 20 psi.
@@ThatTurboDakota I'm running 34° on mine at 0 psi and 20° at 20 psi, I may have to try a few more degrees and see if it picks up some. I really need to get it on the dyno. Thank you!
Your truck is one of My favorite builds out there. Please keep the content coming! Also I think people are genuinely interested in the stock bottom end stuff more than the built engine stuff. Just food for thought. I would be very interested to see let's say a slightly beefed up but otherwise stock bottom in build and see where the limits of the block start coming into play. Especially with a conservative tune.
Every dakota is the same want pull say they got a hole in converter and drain each time but there all the same want pull
I use magnecor
Bro I just watched the 5 lug conversion video but can't comment on it because UA-cam says it's a kids video. I can't figure out what company provides the tubular control arms you talked about, let alone the Facebook page you mentioned. Google is no help! Please help! 😊
@@TboneDuggins it was a place out of Canada, but they did a limited run and I’m pretty sure they’re not gonna do anymore. Pay like close attention to Hipotek. He’s in the middle of developing a tubular upper.
Epic rod and custom was the place in Canada
@@ThatTurboDakota awesome thanks I'll look them up, I know X2 Industries and Airbagit have tubular arms but they're so expensive! I have a second spare set of stock arms I might be tempted to make a jig during the winter. I'm no welder but I for a buddy who's a pro and maybe we can make our own. I've looked into hipotek stuff they for some awesome stuff. Thanks for the reply

Whats Yours thoughts on boosted motorsports Hellkkota?
@@dtruth5769 it’s a cool build
Hey saw you pulling into OC on thursday i was in the yellow reg cab rt
@@jasoncullins4367 yup! The first RT I had was yellow. I miss that one
Clean azz R/T.... God I haven't seen one of those in forever. My old buddy used to have both a Dakota R/T and a Durango R/T, both were black with the polished/chrome stock wheels and the Durango had a Kenne Bell screwcharger on it.... God that was years ago, wonder if he still has them lol. I remember he used the Dakota as his "work truck" (he was a mechanic, but also a fab guy and welder, so he built an in-bed metal tool box for a bunch of gear and a welder that fit below the rails so he could run a soft tonneau cover and nobody would know), the Durango was his regular "daily", I remember that KB on it, and I know it had like Eibach lowering springs and Bilsteins along with shortie headers and a Flowmaster catback.... nice clean SUV.... always dug the style of those 2nd Gen Dakotas/1st Gen Durangos.... even though I was an S10/S15/Sonoma/Blazer/Jimmy/Bravada/Syclone/Typhoon guy 😅 Now after the rambling....any thoughts on doing a Gen3 Hemi swap? Tons of cheap used 5.7, 6.1 SRT, 6.2 'Cat, 6.4/392 SRT, 6.4 HD, and 426ci Hemi's available for the picking.... and I know they're like the LS and Coyotes and absolutely _love_ some boost.... shame you're not building a "street truck", I'd suggest a 6.1 or 6.4 SRT Hemi along with the Durango AWD and a T56 Magnum (or auto 😥) along with 10-15lbs of boost and some good suspension and chassis bracing, thing could be a straight ripper 😅
@@johnnygeorgopoulos4072 hemi is the way to go. A 09+ 5.7 with a cam and valve springs will make more power that any street built 408. I have a 6.4 392 in a crate for the future 🙂

Shockingly poor quality for such an expensive product.
Awesome truck
Turbo needs a support bracket or they didn't back purge it good
@@Bob-s5s it’s wasn’t back purged. Most of it was my fail. The exhaust system didn’t have enough bracing going out the back of the truck, which didn’t help anything out.
@@ThatTurboDakota at least you have a plan
