23:16 People often say that Rashford was great in Ten Hag's first season but, although his scoring record looked good at the end of that campaign, in terms of performances, he was poor before the World Cup, good for the two months that followed the World Cup(mostly in cup games) and then terrible for the last few months of that season. I'm sure Samuel's ratings at the time would've reflected this, as he usually gives pretty accurate ratings. 24:21 Zing! 😀

I tend to agree re the point around the striker and why we bought a left back when a striker was the priority however I think the Zirkzee signing has knocked united confidence and are afraid to invest in another striker that goes wrong. But as Samuel says, there must be a loan signing out there surely. If no striker comes in then we are buggered imo. Ps - agree re tel, not a striker and not what we needed so spurs welcome to him.

I wrote off Onana in Dec 23. I said at the time 'we've bought a dud' and nothing since he's done good and bad has changed my mind overall. People say Antony worst signing, no this is, cause he was available on a free 12 months earlier.

Good show and informative as always but personally I've always preferred the back and forth with two presenters. It feels more natural

Well this worked better than I thought it would but I think you need Tyrone there to chip in and ask questions, not least to allow poor Samuel to catch his breath every now and then! It's a bit much to ask somebody to talk non-stop for 45 minutes! At least Samuel was able to speak without somebody interrupting him, cutting in and changing the subject when he's just getting to the end of an anecdote and giving ridiculous opinions that only annoy Samuel and the listeners!

Always enjoy the Manchester is Red forecast, this one person format feels a bit strained. Samuel does well to talk non stop for 45 minutes, but personally I prefer the old format

Amorim is the same mistake Utd made with ETH, a seemingly successful manager from a lower league who must have the team he’s left replicated by Utd before he can be expected to get results. He shows no flexibility no ingenuity in using the squad he has available Whilst both Erikson and Casemiro are over the hill undeniably Amorim exiles them gaining nothing. Erikson coming on in the last ten minutes can still be a game changer, RVN showed Casemiro and Ugarte could control premiership games. Utd need to be sure Amorims 3-5-2 can win games consistently before completely trashing the current side as it’s clear Amorim has nothing else.

Samuel was on the verge of telling us about a famous rant from Fergie, then Steven stops him in his tracks and changes the subject to Ralf Rangnick! 14:52 Steven should concede that somebody who goes to every United game knows more about the players than most! Samuel also had to pull him up about a month ago, after he said Rashford wasn't having a bad season. Steven later went on to say Rashford has been very good for a long time! 😄

Here's a thought! I wonder if South Hampton was able to prepare all week for United like United were able to do for LFC and AFC. The referees performance was unworthy of a professional official. the standards of officiating in the lower leagues are far higher overall .it is not an argument for VAR,it is an argument for employing European refs who hold no allegencies or petty grudges to the teams in this country. The PGMOL has failed to raise standards choosing to protect the reputations of the loans they employ.

At first under the Amorim losses, I thought that such an effective CB as Martinez (for Uruguay) was pushing too far forward and becoming totally exposed. On reflection in the Liverpool game he was much improved in his positional movement into midfield. McGuire too. It seems the 3:4:3 not only needs the wingbacks everybody focuses on, but the relative help the two central defenders get not only From the width and two above, but also from the CDs pushing up. In the first few games the 3 at the back sat there waiting for the overloaded 2 in front to be overwhelmed.

You know things are bad at United when Marcus Rashford's biggest critic in the press says he should start up front in their toughest game of the season! As bad as Hojlund is, I doubt the current Marcus Rashford would do any better than him at Anfield. I have to take issue with the suggestion that Rashford usually plays well at Anfield. I'm struggling to think of any examples of this happening and I've tracked down Samuel's ratings for Rashford in his last four appearances at Anfield, where, because of injury or suspension, he's only played four times in just over six years and it seems he hasn't played well there for a long time, if at all! Here they are - 5/10, 1/10, 2/10 and 4/10.

Zirkzee situation is fully on Amorim. We all know he is not good enough and United been in such poor form that fans are looking anything to blame at. Subbing him at 33th minute gave a perfect scapegoat for the match goers. It could have been anyone. Thank you for the insightful podcast and guest as always.

It will take 4 windows to get the players we want out. In 2025 Bayindir, Evans, Lindelof, Shaw, Malacia, Casemiro, Eriksen, Antony, Rashford, Zirkzee all need to go. Onana, Fernandes, Mount, Martinez are all running out of time too.

What? 😃 There weren't many periods between his debut season and the start of his nightmare run in March 2023 where you would've been right to say "Marcus Rashford is a very good player". Even in the season where he scored 30 goals(17 in 35 in the league) he wasn't great for the whole season if we're talking about his performance levels, in fact he was below average or worse for all but the two months that followed the World Cup!

Amorim should bring back Casemero to play alongside Ugarte in double pivot that worked well under ruud. Its also clear that we are weaker on set pieces without him. With De Ligt Maguire and Casemero in the line up I think we will be stronger defending set pieces.

We're not finishing in the top half of the table if we don't sign a couple of players in January. Man, it's gonna be a long season smh
