I am mid 40’s, divorced and a Christian, and considering SLC after my oldest leaves for college. I love skiing and the outdoors so obviously this is a huge draw for me. My only concern is being able to find someone to settle down with. If it’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack, then I’ll probably look at Denver.

Also praising the architecture of the temples without being a little more well informed is pretty foolish. The mormon church expects members to contribute money so that they have the funds to build these temples, under the guise that they are using the money for "humanitarian aid". The temples are an eyesore to an otherwise beautiful landscape. Not to mention all of the fucked up culty rituals that go on inside those horrid buildings.

Living in salt lake for 18 years and then moving down to Utah county for college, it is a stark contrast. Salt Lake City may be more diverse these days, but Utah county is still highly insular and homogenous when it comes to Mormons. Also being a never Mormon and being in Salt Lake might not be so bad, but when you were raised in the church and then leave, you want nothing more than to escape this place. I don't expect someone who wasn't raised in Utah or in the Mormon church to understand this perspective, but there are a lot of legitimate criticisms of Mormon culture and the church itself for people like me. Trying to paint a rosy picture of Utah just seems disingenuous or ignorant.

Fair warning, if you fill out their contact form "their team" will not contact you, rather they will outsource your "lead"to a random realtor which is disingenuous at best. The realtor that our information was given to was inexperienced, unprofessional and quite frankly, unhinged. Very disappointed since I wanted to work with this group in particular, not some rando.

The reason why Im watching this Im non mormon. And I wanna move there. I come from WA state(not DC). And all my family members say the same thing, its full of mormons, youll have a hard time getting a job because your non mormon, youll have a hard time getting a job because your non mormon. They make it seem that Utah is tribalistick. Even a freind of my grandmas has a house there, she tells me she is retiered but it'll be hard for me to get a job because Im non mormon. Granted Im going into the trades, plumbing/HVAC so therell be alot of small family owned companies.

Salt Lake proper is nice. There's a good vibe there. However, the closer you get to Utah county, the worse the vibe becomes. Utah county has a very large population of what I call super stinky Mormons. Very self righteous and could probably never live anywhere else. Lehi, the northern most city in Utah county has become a tech center and requires people with that background from every part of the US. Most of them live in Draper (in Salt Lake county) because Utah county is so insufferable.

The worst con for me is that you can't buy wine or liquor in a grocery store and when ordering drinks in a bar, they are weak as hell. The best pro is that we have way more good restaurants then we deserve given the general "frugality" of our population.

You're on point with all those areas may friend! One thing you provide is honesty for those that know they are moving here regardless so they can make the best informed decision on location to price point of affordability. Overall Salt Lake County has its pockets of stillness and its more vibrant areas, yet all of it is close to action and mountain adventure.

I'm not Mormon, but I like Mormon's... I'm Non-Denominational Christian, and I've gotten along with them in Florida, New Hampshire & Idaho.... I NEVER argue my perspectives, but I like talking with them over coffee, and no, I do not follow typical traditions, so I will shop on Sundays, but I do like to try to not work on Sundays, so I can go to church..... According to this video, there seems to be more & more & more bad people (Dems & Libs) moving into Salt Lake City unfortunately... Sure, there are bad people (Dems & Libs) littered in all 50 states, and that's just the way it is, and someday, hopefully not, but maybe someday there will be way too many Dems & Libs to the point that the Republicans (The Good Americans) will be no more.... Hopefully, not in my lifetime.

As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints it saddens me that our friends wouldn’t notice much of a difference. I would hope anyone would want to move to Utah because their LDS neighbors were so friendly, so kind, and so serviceable… that would be what I would hope people would notice as a difference. 😊

Millcreek has always been a sought after east-side suburb with pretty exceptional access to certain shops and some of the coolest staple restaurants encompassing Salt Lake County like "Eggs In The City", a posh family owned generational hidden gem and "Over The Counter Cafe", looking like a dive on it's last leg that houses some of the BEST brunch around. The main street of 3300S. stretching West to East foothills give access to all the shops and lifestyle you'll need with a BRAND NEW edition to the area called Millcreek Commons, a new city center. Like Jesse mentions the hotspot city of Sugarhouse is touchdown run away!

Directly to the west mountain range you'll find Wasatch Wing & Clay!...a full open-space outdoor shooting range. If you like a more rural country suburban feel, this location is awesome and not exactly as expensive for more new build homes/up and coming neighborhood as anything along the east bench in Salt Lake County.

If you're looking to be further away from Salt Lake proper and even the growing city of Orem & Provo, this edge of town is an excellent rural, small town feel with a bit of a streamline to the adventure down south Bryce Canyon, Moab, and all the Red Rock near St George. Just visited 1750 Speakeasy in Springville just north from here, gives a vivacious vibe for nightlife that you'd otherwise be lacking from being far out from any more major city area.

Many. Of the people that are moving here that are non mormons don't have a particularly great moral compass. And they're bringing their value system with them, which is the major reason it's declining in Salt Lake and the people are complaining. You lack the moral values that the city was known for people just gonna start being Blunt about it with you, I'd rather not even see you move here, don't. Want your value systems with the game homosexual and transgender communities. You don't come in and be comparted. The community you try to force your values on other people. So that's a big no, no in the state of utand there'll be major push back against these communities, so they'll ask about another 5 years and I'll be pushed outake your move. If you have one
