    Good vlog...unfortunately this was not a real Schnitzel, it was just Schnitzel style as it was made of pork...the original one is always veal and the difference is big.. Next time you are around go to "Plachutta bei der Oper" or "Hietzinger Bräu" close to Schönbrunn to get the real Schnitzel treat...cheers from Vienna ❤

    • @inLmgb
      @inLmgb Місяць тому

      I wouldn't say "unfortunately". A good pork schnitzel "Viennese Style" ("Wiener Art") might even be more juicy and tasty if well prepared. And I am definitely not talking Figlmueller Schnitzel here. ;-) Plachutta would not be my first choice for the original Wiener Schnitzel either. There are some really great old restaurants like "Zu den 3 Hacken", "Gmoakeller" or "Oswald und Kalb" and many more to be discovered.

    Hi how much walking is required?

    • @Jess_and_Dave
      @Jess_and_Dave 2 місяці тому

      Hi there! That really depends on how much you want to wander around each island. The walk from the ferry to the grand canal in Murano is about 5 minutes, and on Burano it’s 3-4 minutes. Where the walking/standing might be a lot is when you are on the ferry. The seats fill up quickly and it can get very crowded when standing. If you need to sit, you might have to wait for another ferry if the seats fill up before you board. I’m sure the attendants can help sort out a seat for you if you ask.☺️

    Is it feasible to visit these islands and tour glass and lace factories without a guide? All we’ve been seeing are “guided tours.” We will be visiting for first time this fall and don’t know best way to see these two islands easily.

    • @Jess_and_Dave
      @Jess_and_Dave 4 місяці тому

      Hi there! Yes I would say this is totally feasible. You can take the Vaporetto route we mentioned in the video to get to both Murano and Burano. I would recommend starting early in the day to maximize your time and not feel rushed. For Murano, many of the glass factories offer free demonstrations, where you can just watch them making the glass. You can usually also pay for guided tours from the factory themselves. The one we visited offers 50 minute guided tours for €25 each, but you can shop around to see one that looks good to you! For Burano, you can visit the Lace Museum for €5 and also pop into various shops to see their collections. Dalla Lidia Merletti D’Arte has their own gallery on display and at Martina Vidal there is often someone making lace in the store. I recommend reaching out to a few places in advance to see what they offer.☺️ I hope that helps!

    You mention that you forgot to get tickets to the Colosseum so got online the week beforehand and after constantly refreshing managed to not only get the day tickets but also some night time ones the following night. How does that work, I thought once all the tickets were sold there weren't anymore, so it's weird you managed to get some a week out by just refreshing the page over a few days ?

    • @Jess_and_Dave
      @Jess_and_Dave 4 місяці тому

      Hi there! Coopculture tickets go on sale 30 days ahead of the day the ticket is for, and at this time they release the largest number of tickets for that day. They usually come out at the time of entrance, so 9.30am tickets come out at 9.30am Rome time 30 days before and so on. This is the time I mentioned I forgot to buy tickets during. After the first release, tickets occasionally come out in smaller batches during the 30 day window and a big batch usually comes out 7 days ahead. So if you are flexible on your dates and check regularly, it is possible to get tickets after that first major release a month in advance, which is what we did. I hope that helps clear it up!☺️

    The Colosseum at night looks awesome. For someone who has never been the Colosseum, would going at night be "enough" to get the full experience? I guess another way to ask is, if you could only go by day or night, which would you recommend?

    • @Jess_and_Dave
      @Jess_and_Dave 4 місяці тому

      We’ve definitely gone back and forth on this but I think, if you’ve never been, a daytime tour with the arena + underground would be the best option, followed by the daytime tour that includes just the arena. I would recommend having a guide as well. We did the Rick Steves audio guide for our daytime visit and while it was still good, the guides at the Colosseum are amazing and totally worth it! Daytime tickets also include entry to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, whereas the night time one doesn’t. You also don’t have the option to roam freely through the colosseum on the night tour. We plan to do a full video about this soon, but I hope that helps!☺️

      @naylisyazwina6836 100% of italians don't cup their hands to drink, and I honestly find the image absolutely ridiculous, so the fact that this one tourist would do it makes absolutely no difference in the overall bacterial change of the fountain. @@Jess_and_Davenot saying you were inconsiderate. You just did what the website showed you but it’s just more hygienic the cup hand method. I don’t doubt that your hands are clean but I worry about other people doing this. People that don’t wash their hands after they poop

      @@Jess_and_Dave It's not wild, i come from a country older than italy. These fountains are not new to me. Really the only advice i would give is DON'T PUT YOUR MOUTH ON THE NOZZLE. It's not even a hygiene thing, you could swallow a wasp, and that's not fun !!

    I loved this video. Those are some of my favorite places. And while the cookie was an interesting touch, if I may... eating while walking in Italy is a no no :)

    Where to eat a good proper cheese cake in Vienna?

    • @Jess_and_Dave
      @Jess_and_Dave 5 місяців тому

      If you're looking for some good Cheesecake, I would suggest Demel. It's a great place and the prices are quite reasonable. We also have a video that you can check out where we don't get cheesecake but a couple other items. Link -> ua-cam.com/video/4ILxR9F9z9U/v-deo.htmlsi=0u0LsqLCPwx5MMtd

    how would i book a backpacking trail at Algonquin Park like you did?

    • @Jess_and_Dave
      @Jess_and_Dave 6 місяців тому

      All you need to do is Google Algonquin Park Booking. First link you click and find Backcountry Reservations. Sites can fill up fast if you’re looking for prime weekends so I’d keep an eye on availability.

      @Jess_and_Dave 6 місяців тому

      We were there in October 2023 and it was around 25C/77F. It looks like in February the high is around 10C/50F and low around 0C/32F. I suggest bringing layers and rain gear.☺️
