Did you know roaches can be trained like dogs? A friend of mine trained a roach in prison to help them smuggle cigarettes between cells. Really our distaste for our roachy friends is acquired through observations of other people who cannot reconcile their insect bodies.

I would 100% direct them to a professional vocal coach. I would phrase it like "Since you started pursuing your passion in singing you've improved a lot, but every singer has had vocal coaching and I think getting singing coach can really take you to the next level." If you REALLY wanted to be that push, one could even invest in hiring them a vocal coach as a present. That would frame it as positive thing that you do to help her. And in the end, very rare is it that someone has a voice that is impossible to get a good singing voice out of, so a vocal coach could probably help her a lot.

I used to work as a food runner/busser at a steakhouse. One day I had to take a tray of waters to a table (normally the servers did this.) I got halfway around the table before the tray tipped bc I pulled all of the previous waters from the same size (rookie mistake). The last 3-4 waters all spilled into one woman’s lap. She was obviously upset, so I was moved to bar back on our rooftop bar. Later that night, their server told me that she had been in a bad mood the rest of the night, and after making a joke with the table she said something along the lines of “why don’t you just go grab that busser to spill more water on me.” He, without skipping a beat said, “oh, we already fired him.” She immediately back tracked saying it wasn’t that big of a deal but he doubled down and said, “sorry, what’s done is done.” To this day that woman still believes she cost me my job.

I saw and trailer and immediately lost interest in the flick. So many bloody years of waiting. I personally won't watch it.

As a previous Starbucks barista in NYC, Buffalo, and Los Angeles, this is what I’ve taken from my experience. These types of People don’t have control in their life, but they can control how their coffee tastes. They will find reasons to control the barista to make a new cup even if it’s exactly how they want it. It’s sad, but once I accepted that people will do this regardless of my geographic location, it began to become less intense. Sometimes there is nothing you can do as a barista except just make them their extra wet cappuccino at 180° until they huff and puff and walk out. It’s never you, it’s always them.
