Thanks so much I just bought a lowrance hook. Two time it's didn't work lol😢 now I know why 😂 Thanks again life saver.
Glad it was helpful 👍🏻
Alrite mate I'm looking at 1 of these on the weekend. Well it's this or an alaska 500, since you've had both which would you pick over the other and why? Thanks for any info be much appreciated
Hi mate, I really rate the Alaska. Proper good little boats and I would struggle to say there is a better boat in its class, however this striker was a different kettle of fish. It was better than the Alaska in almost every way. Handled the rough better, at anchor and drifting. It’s got more weight than an Alaska, but also more room. They were designed and fitted out to be fishing platforms and they are awesome. I’ve raced alaskas in rough seas and they just couldn’t hold the speed this could. There’s a reason they don’t come up for sale often…
@Suffolksportsfishing thanks for the reply, think that's made my decision alot easier. I was going the warrior 165 route but for the budget I got I wasn't going to get anything with what I thought was a good engine. So thought alaska but then seen the striker and instantly took a liking to it. Thanks again il let you kno if I get it.
Does anyone have a list explaining the meaning for the Data Overlay acronyms, specifically the Compass Bearing, and Speed over Ground?
👍👍👍 Thank you! I was ready to purchase a new transducer.
Heaps easier with a mate and should you go without a mate ? I been a skipper for a few years now and always alot easier and safer with a mate.
A lot easier maybe, but fishing solo is a completely different challenge and one with different rewards. Fishing with someone else is great but what if no one wants to get up early? Or no one is free that day? Do you just not go? I’ve been launching boats for more than 20 years and on the water solo since 13 years old. If you can’t launch / handle / run a boat solo should you even be in charge of one? I understand the risk of injury, but with correct training and procedures that is minimised excluding accidents / error from another boat / breakdown.
Thought it was broke. Nice quick fix sir!
Glad it was helpful 👍🏻
Thank you, watched a few videos on launching a small boat and yours is the best by far.
Thank you - glad it was helpful for you 👍🏻
Saved my day of fishing, THANKS!!
Glad it was helpful 👍🏻
Always wanted to go fishing silly qusteion wrer they big enough to fry and eat ?
Yes they were. We only keep if we are eating them, and generally only take fish just over the limit and not too big. The rest go back to breed
Simple and straight to the point with easy to see results. Great video, Thanks for sharing!
Glad it was helpful. Thanks 👍🏻
Thanks!
My pleasure 👍🏻
Your windows are not good enough and you need a way to get the water out or be good with the weather
Hi, where did you get your decals for the boat made? The band around the hull
They were made by a local company to me who do van signage
Made that look easy
Thanks - have a plan and routine and stick to it!
Thank you sooo much
You're welcome!

Thanks. Just had to sort this on my kayak in the sea haha.

Thanks. Just had to sort this on my kayak in the sea haha.
Tried this, thanks. I find i have to press the input connecter in on an angle to get my 9TS to work with the sonar, it must be the connections and its brand new.
Is the cable too tight? You could always hold the angle of the wire in with cable ties?
@@Suffolksportsfishing It fits like a glove and I've tried holding it and pulling out the cable to see where the best spot is but it just drops out ! I'll probably have to disconnect everything and take it back!
You rock. Thanks.
More than welcome 👍🏻
Oh no Ed I’m sure your sorted it 👍👍👍
Oh yes - she’s had a lot of work completed now and is in fine shape operating as a charter boat 👍🏻
@@Suffolksportsfishing congratulations mate 👍👍
There's a nick on my cable where it enters the transducer, I assumed that was the problem. Saw your video and this solved the problem. I was considering buying a new transducer for $75 to put on the Lowrance Hook Reveal 5x ss that I bought for $100. Not very cost effective way of testing the unit. Thanks and may you live 1,000 years.
Perfect - glad it worked out and was a cheap fix for you 👍🏻👍🏻
Great wee video, the prep is what makes it easy. No hassles Well done.👏
Thanks mate 👍🏻
Very helpful
Glad it helped 👍🏻
Hello from Greece. I was wondering how many liters of oil were needed in total? Thanks for the videos
Mine looks like a kid did it but I'm going to throw it in the water anyway
Exactly - it’s nice to look good but as long as it works and gets through the windlass
Thank you!!!

Ed what was that orange thing ??? lol
well done ED certainly is a lovely boat all the hard work has definitely paid of i take my hat of to you and your helpers cant wait to see the business logos go on👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Was pulling hair out! Thank you for posting.👍
Glad it was helpful 👍🏻
Maybe the hole is to let you fit the hub cap without trapping air and forcing grease through the outer bearing ?
Quite possibly 👍🏻
wow you made that look easy Ed 👍👍👍
Thank you - it’s all about having a routine and sticking to it. Don’t forget the bung!! 👍🏻
loved the depth finder great screen👍
It’s a good machine, very clear and not an overly expensive unit
Hi Ed love the videos cant wait for the next one i have subscribed, i was thinking of getting a small boat myself, would you recommend a small boat i wasn't sure of all the legal side and costings mooring, ins, anti fouling, etc i know some people say BOAT stands for break out another grand lol would love to hear your thoughts cheers 👍👍👍Andy
Hi Andy, well… would I recommend a small boat? Yes! 100%. But, you need to do your research, take small steps at a time and take time to learn how the boat / sea / your skills all work together. Legally there is not too much to do, just a VHF course for your marine radio. I would also suggest an RYA powerboat level 2 course. The cheapest way to keep a boat is on your drive or a piece of land away from the marina and launch each time. Factor in a trailer and tow car though… In theory if you are handy you can do any work needed yourself servicing the engine etc. In short, boats are a lifestyle - do some research and get a good hull with the best engine your budget allows. Enjoy! Ed
@@Suffolksportsfishing thank you ED i had my own business i was a motor mechanic for over 30+ years so engine wise should be ok still respray the odd accident repair so doing an old boat up not a problem it was just knowing the procedures of if i had to pay or tell someone at the Harbour that i am launching a boat i can take the vhf test just thought there was more to it but thanks for the advise really appreciate stay safe buddy 👍👍👍👍 Andy Halesworth Suffolk👍👍👍
Looks great 👍🏼
Thank you - hope it was helpful
I had that issue but then the screen would constantly flicker afterward? It doesn’t do it when my boat is at home. I still haven’t heard back from Lowrance Support about this. Any ideas whats going on? thanks.
If that’s an issue with your unit then I would be sending it back ASAP. It sounds like either the unit is faulty or you need to retrace your wiring to make sure every connection is spot on. It might be ok at home where the boat isn’t moving / rocking on the water which might be enough to make a bad connection.
Thank you!
Pleasure - glad it helped
How do I add the depths on the map. To show me how deep an area is? I have the Navionic maps I'm using the Hook Reveal 5
What year is your Alaska make I’m thinking of getting one but I think the one I’m looking at is 1990 how do you rate yours the one I’m looking at has 50hp u think that’s underrated ? Cheers mate
Hi mate, mine was an 85 or 86 model. The older ones are heavier lay up than the newer ones. A 90s one will be good, although check the floor and the transom for soft spots. Both can be fixed by unless you can do it yourself can run into big bucks. A 50hp will get it on the plane but will struggle with a bit of load and a couple of people on. I would say you want a 60hp minimum. 👍🏻 Very good little boats and will tackle anything you throw at it… you’ll give up before the boat does 👍🏻
@@Suffolksportsfishing cheers mate yea I’m hands on like yourself thanks for the info just found your channel nice new boat 👍 apparently it’s had a new deck so il take a look at it … hope the weather is better than here in Padstow 👍👍
@fishingpadstowcornwall2433 nice mate, they are great boats. Really good fun and feel a lot bigger than they are. You’ll have loads of fun. New boat is a slightly different kettle of fish but it’s for a different purpose. I loved my Alaska and will likely have another one at some point to tow about
@@Suffolksportsfishing yea looks nice I have an idea what your going to do 👀 good luck with it mate you seem dedicated if it’s anything like here they earn good money in the season 👍👍
Been doing it now for 6 months - it’s good fun and I’m enjoying it. Busier than I expected but all good! Cheers mate and let me know if you have any questions about the alaskas, I got to know mine quite well 👍🏻
Great to see you back on camera Ed. Glad to hear the charter work has been keeping you busy. Will have to get myself booked on a trip out
Thanks Simon. It’s busier than I could have expected so far! Exciting times though and all good fun. More than welcome aboard 👍🏻
@@Suffolksportsfishing well I’ve joined the WhatsApp group so I’ll keep my eyes and ears open and book on when I can mate
good to see you back Ed. has Gav been out on his boat? havn't seen any vids from him in months
Hi mate, I have been busy with the charters so haven’t been able to put videos together at the same time. Gav has been out a couple of times, fishing hasn’t been great this winter though so not a great deal to report. Sure he will get back on camera soon 😀
Well done you found a few
Early days still, good to see a couple around and feeding though
Good to see ya back Ed few nice hounds their hope the boats working oot for ya
Thanks mate, it’s been a lot busier than i anticipated but all good fun and enjoying it!
Nice too see ya back Ed .you must have been using your boat a lot your heads worn all the bolts away flush too the ceiling 😂😅
Thanks mate, been hectic with the charters and not been ‘socially’ fishing to be able to make videos. The bolts have worn away over time, helped by my bobble hat 😂😂
Hi can you remember how much grey topcoat you used,
Hi, I bought 5kg of flocoat (topcoat) and had a small amount left over 👍🏻
Peter Gore Seer, A Good 7ft Beam.
That was great, we have been struggling to find a better way to slip in and out. We launch at Dover from the slipway, there is no pontoon. So we have to have one stay on the boat using the engine to slip off the trailer into the sea then the car driver has to use waders to get out to the boat after, that is the easy part. However returning is a pain trying to line up the boat so that the keel lines up with the keel rollers. Now having seen how you do not use the keel rollers I might try to raise the bilge rollers to make life simple if the hull on my Explorer Elite can take the load. We have six rollers set on three sets of roller arms. Do you think this is a safe way to go?
Hi glad it helped out. That’s just the way I did it, sure there are other ways. Your Elite should be fine on 6 rollers - they are tough and the rollers should self-centre the boat on the trailer. If you are beach launching and it’s a calm day, you could push the boat off the trailer in the shallows with a longish line attached to the bow. Then pull it up the beach so it holds itself. Lose the car up the beach, get on the boat in the shallows and then motor in reverse off the beach with the engine trimmed up? Just another idea 👍🏻
Thanks for the reply@@Suffolksportsfishing
You saved my day on the water literally. Couldn't figure this out when I turned it on for my first time thank you for posting that short video
Glad to have helped out 👍🏻
