Can I turn SCRAP METAL into a Chameleon?
I'm building a chameleon out of scrap metal and recycled electronics, as usual we were hit with a few issues today, but I'm still happy with the progress so far! Let me know what you guys think of this one so that I can make improvements to the upcoming ones! And if you're looking for more E waste project ideas then check out some of my other videos!

I'm building a chameleon out of scrap metal and recycled electronics, and got some good progress made over this three day stretch. Unfortunately the argon is in fact all arGONE so that slowed me down quite a bit. Let me know what you guys think of this one so that I can make improvements to the upcoming ones! INSANE E-Waste Haul!

I managed to get my hands on an amazing E-waste haul, and wanted to show you guys all the interesting electronic and tech waste I salvaged. There are a ton of incredible circuit board components, electronics galore, and more resistors than I could ever hope for. I'm going to have my work cut out recycling all of the antique tech and devices, but with all these materials I can build some really ...

What's inside an Xbox controller - Disassembly ASMR
It’s so fun to watch the progress of this It’s gonna turn out great!
Thanks! I'm really glad you're enjoying it!
Amazing to see all your hard work!
Thank you so much! 🍴
Do you think soldering would work with this type of art medium? Have you tried it before? I'm wanting to start creating structures + models with the bits and pieces I've collected over the last year but not sure on the best adhesive methods
I’ve tried soldering in the past, and the difficulty is I couldn’t get it to work with most of the metals I’d end up using. Before I had my welding system I used to use superglue (it’s not strong enough for me to use commercially now, but it worked great when it was for a hobby/fun)
@@zakmiskrycreations thanks for responding! That was a worry for me as obviously the solder may not stick to certain alloys/metals. I'll have a play around :)
@@Nistekisyou can also try mechanical fastening - bolting stuff together/using wire to bind sections etc. Best thing to do is probably just test a load of different things and see what sticks (no pun intended)
That must have been such a frustrating day! I admire how you handle every setback
It really was haha, especially having to spend time fixing what I had just finished building! It could've gone a lot worse though so that helped me to keep going!
A tiny spray bottle of water and soap also works well for leaks. It’s a bit easier to clean up. Looking good, coming along.
Ooh thanks for the tip! Will definitely try that in future (my floor is still sticky to this day)
Maybe electrocuting yourself because your hands where directly on the ground clamp? Not exactly sure though, just a guess
Scratch that, I see when you were working on the feet you also grab directly on the clamp and weren’t getting shocked. So mystery is still unsolved lol
That’s what I thought at first as well! But no clue why it was just that one time but not the others
This is pure perfection ✨🙌🏻
Thanks!
You create the most wonderful things with othet peoples 'trash'
Thank you 😊
soooo jealous!… but watch out for those galvanized screws!.. deadly when welded off-gassing - fully strip em of the coatings first…. also… do you epoxy around all the capacitors wouldn’t want them to leak later on. would be nifty to see what you come up with!
I think every time you comment I learn something new haha, I haven’t thought of the capacitors leaking, I’ll have to look into that! Will definitely be careful around the galvanised stuff though
Nice, You’re making big progress!!! Can’t wait for the end result!
Thanks!
nice ....add some LEDS lol
Cool idea!
At 5:31 time.. what power level are you using.. and in general what power levels do you use?
Then I was at about 150 Ws, whereas usually I tend to stick around more 40 Ws
@@zakmiskrycreations Very cool! for now i’m stuck topping out at 30w but i’m making stuff that is only like 6 inches or so. Should work fine. but i’m eyeing the 150s for sure! as an upgrade eventually
It's so interesting to see your process! It's comming together nicely
Getting there slowly!
definitely be careful with anything galvanized. You should probably strip it first with a mild acid because every time you’re welding that stuff you’re producing really toxic gas that’s very different than welding with any other metal so avoid galvanized stuff like the plague if you can.
Thanks for the tip! Yeah it’s definitely a pain to work around - and not something I want to be breathing in by the sounds of it
I also love what you are doing for some time now, always makes me smile to see you in suggested videos, keep on great work and treasure your safety and health
Thank you! 😊
What kind of welder
Micro pulse arc welder!
Que genial, me encanta todo tu trabajo, y gracias por compartir tu proceso, es muy inspirador. quisiera replicarlo aquí en mi país :D
¡Gracias! Me alegra mucho que te guste mi trabajo.
Your work is amazing! Looking forward to seeing more progress on that piece!
Thank you!
Keep up the good work I love it I think it will turn out amazing ❤😊
Thanks man!
Take the magnets out of the speakers..they will be less than half the weight.
Thats true but the magnetic properties actually ended up being very useful in this build later on - but it's definitely worth considering for future builds where I'm trying to keep the weight down so thanks for the suggestion!
Ive been follwing you for a while now. Hows the chameleon coming along?
Go Zak! Keep it up
Cheers Nico!
It’s coming along nicely. Really like the idea the speakers. Question, is it a concern the magnetic fields of the speakers attracting dust long turn? All the magnets I have in my shop seem to have dust. I’m going to remove the magnet and replace with black EVA foam. Any thoughts? Again going well.
That’s really interesting I’d never considered that! I’ve used speakers before in pieces and I haven’t noticed them getting dustier than others (but that might just be because I haven’t been paying attention)
It's good to have such wonderful supporters in your corner! 😊 I'm happy for you! (And I love your content as well!)
Thank you @sjiva7061 (and I really appreciate your support too, often notice your icon in the comments!)

Just cleared out a storeroom at a radio museum. The feeling of grabbing too much but still going back for more… Very relatable 😅
It’s so hard to say no to such good stuff haha
you know what you should do🙏🙏

Hey man I appreciate your videos you have helped me with a few ideas you are very talented with this work I think the old umbrella fabric would look good on wings even try have separate parts of the fabric between the metal nails not just over top of it so it's like a trim and will match the style of the gold stuff you've done, it might be Harder to connect the fabric to it though you have to think of a way for that, your good at doing that though haha
But then again might look good and be easier just on top on back too if you get more transparent fabric so you can still see the nail shape through it cause those nails joined together like that is such a cool look like the spider legs you done
Hey man, thanks for the kind words! Yeah I still haven’t fully made my mind up what to do for the wings, I think I might test out a bunch of different materials and see what looks best - could make a cool video!
Amazing talent 👏👏👏👏👏 subscribed!
Thanks man! 🫡
I must admit when I watched this video I was a little concerned you are going down the "hoarder" rabbit hole... I am looking forward to seei g how you actually manage this collection, how it is organised and how you use these components and items! ❤❤
It’s going to be a huge project to get it all sorted and organised that’s for sure! The time pressure coupled with the fact that everything I didn’t take was going to landfill at the end of the day meant I didn’t have time to be picky! Slowly getting through it though!
That is a HUGE haul!! You should have enough materials to use for the next 10 YEARS! Haha! Will it stop you collecting more buts? No......... 😂😂
Hahaha I’ve made it a rule to not take anything big for the foreseeable… (or at least try)
Don't show this video to UA-camr "12voltvids", he makes these old electronics work, doesn't see the colors and shapes as art material.
Okay I won’t tell if you won’t 🤐
I love the parts! Lots of money saved there. Each resistor is at minimum 10 cents, but you add them up and it is hundreds of dollars of parts.
Yeah there’s definitely some valuable parts hidden away in there!
That blue round baby coils is jelly fish to be... great stuff, just all needs to be sorted out. Can't wait to see what eill you create next❤
Yeah I think a jellyfish is definitely high on the list! I think making one with a lot of glass and blue electronics would be cool
First print is soooo mine🤗
A nice problem to have. Great catch Zak
Yep! Can’t really complain about hitting a goldmine (but I won’t let that stop me..)
"For our next build, an entire monument" also most of this isnt even E-waste, just perfectly good electronics but regardless excited to see what comes next!
Yeah there is a lot that’s just regular resistors etc, it was destined for landfill so I guess it was going to be e-waste but now it’s not. I think I might try and find a use for some of it and get it into some hands where it’ll have more of a use (unless it’s incredibly colourful and cool)
You can literally create the whole zoo animals with this many supply😂
Hahah exactly, no limits!
Nice! I look forward to see what you build with it!
And seeing what you can get out of the big electronics would be a great video too
Yeah I think there could be some really exciting stuff inside them - I also might do a disassembly livestream which could be fun
