Stunning job mate I worked on a damlier dart revamped the interior rewired the from bullet side. Lights and fogs rear wiring loom
Nice work! Wiring can be a pain, i usually just test, trace and connect one wire at a time
My dad had a Jag like that one, after watching you do the work on your Jag , I'm going in my garage and working on my T25.
Great stuff! Get in there! Rven if its just half an hour, pick something easy and get stuck in :)
I know where there is one of those volvo's it has been stuck up the side of a house under a tarp for decades needs a full resto but if you need parts it may have them.🤔
Sounds interesting! Email me at budgethomeclassics@gmail.com
On behalf of all Jaguar MKII owners thank you for saving that car, I don't think I have seen one as rusty as that before. You may like to check out my channel (Jagvette1) where I am restoring a 1964 Jaguar MKII. I live across the pond now but have subscribed to your channel and looking forward to all classics you are working on.
Scrap it
Throw it away seems to be the modern way. Which is a shame. We used to be a world of “made to last”, engineered with the customer in mind, to be able to fix it themselves. One day there will be very few of these vehicles left, most likely only in museums. If i can keep even just one of them on the road for a few years longer, it’s a part of our mechanical and engineering history that lives on, in the way it was designed to be used. History in motion.
Just found your site and, the Jaguar. Personally I wouldn't touch the 2.4 but, the 3.4 is lovely.
Yeah the 2.4 was too far gone to save, the 3.4 runs like a dream. Ill get a snip of it running in the next video
was wondering if it may have been a good idea to have it dipped ? ......
I doubt there would have been much to go off if i had! As much as our process is time consuming, you need the rusty parts to see the shapes and angles you need to reproduce, then cut out the old and weld in the new. There wasnt an inch of it we havent been through in honesty.
@@budgethomeclassics doing a great job that was almost past saving ....
72 years old had many jags in my life from a early age....so i know the score it takes a lot to impress me ... and it ain't easy...but you and your dad have my deepest respect....and a massive thumbs up.... well done......
Thank you so much for your kind words! Thank you for watching Brian :)
Having brought things blind I sympathise but what a nice job you and your dad have done and be proud of I’m impressed
Wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it.
Sorry didnt quite make out what you said when you said (coconut flavoured ...,?? Cheers...,
Coconut flavoured thins! Haha i need to start using my clip on mic more. Apologies!
Epic job on the Jag
Thanks Chris! Thanks for watching!
Man you must be bloody mad LOL.
Sorry pal, that’s too far gone, money pit.
The main cost has been paying for steel (pretty cheap), paying for gas for the welder (not so cheap) and my own time/patience (costs nothing).
Very well done , basically that car was to far gone and scrap , but you managed to save it
I cant take all the credit, i couldnt have done it without help from Jim. Thank you for the kind words and thanks for watching!
Bravo to Jim too...keep up the good work guys.. .to keep these classics on the rd
Well done!! Love your videos and cant wait for the next one
Thanksssss!
Amazing work. You must be into S&M 😂 If i came home with that my wife would have had me commited 😂. I bought a 3.4 mk2 sight unseen, i have rebuilt the front suspension, manufactured chassis outriggers, rebuilt the brakes and rebuilt the carbs. I need to replace all the jacking points and then i should be done. Subscribed.
Nice bloody work! “I dont wanna know about it and i dont wanna see it.” - The Missus 🤣 Im lucky ive got a space to do these ridiculous escapades away from home. Jags are the most awkward ive had to do so far. Thanks for watching!
What a mess! That was so rotten and you made an excellent job of it. The doors look like a really good fit. I really enjoyed the video, I like your humour. Liked and subscribed
Thanks for watching!
That was rather crispy underneath, well done another one saved 🙂
Top Mark's to you fella ,that was a job and a half ,glad to see British history kept on the road .just subscribed very well done ,thank you
Thank you for your kind words! And thanks for watching!
Wow! You've got two of my most favourite cars ever right here. The Mk2 and the Volvo.
I cant wait to get my hands into the volvo! Youre a man of great taste!
Anyone thinking about buying a MK1 or MK2 Jag needs to watch this video to show them where to inspect for rust issues! There are plenty but no worse than any other 60's cars rust issues, I've owned 7 MK2 jags over the years and finally have my pinnacle, A genuine UK 1964, 3.8 manual O/D on wires, It spent 30 years in California before being shipped back to the UK in the late 90's, I could not be happier, It's rust free and totally unmolested and still has it's original sills, Floors and rear spring boxes in perfect condition, I'm keen to see how you get on with your MK2, Liked and Subbed.
Absolutely lovely cars! However the British seasons and a positive earth will rot them out quicker than anywhere! Thanks for watching!
Very brave. Well done.
Trust me, if id have actually gone and seen it before paying. I wouldnt have bought it 🤣
@ Most people including me would have broken it for parts but you have gone ahead and took the welding on, Just brilliant mate. Another MK2 saved!
Hi mate, bloody hell what a job you have had on your hands, well done 👏
Cheers rob, will definitely be my last jag 😂😭
@@budgethomeclassics I feel bad for you, I really do.
@ It's great that you are saving one and getting it back on the road, Kudos to you mate 👌
Oh,you have been busy! How long has it taken you to get up to this point? All I’ve done in the dark evenings is trawl through Ebay 😂 Seriously though that’s a brave project but by the looks of it you’re smashing it.
Haha this has been on the go since last september. So four months of every evening and as many weekends as i can. Safe to say, im NEVER doing another mk2 haha!
i like your thought process. you are on the right track.
Thanks very much! I have absolute scatter brain mostly and get lost on tangents, so i try and force myself to be methodical.
Hi did I miss something where is the rest of the reliant Schimitar videos?
Im sorry to say i had to move from the old workshop and unfortunately had to sell the Scimitar :(
респект братан хочу тоже такую тачку
Thank you. About to build a 4.6 RV8 for my SD1. Great video
Fantastic! Im so pleased you found it useful. Thanks for watching!
hey i have that model and im tryna fix it up but i cant find any parts where are u finding theses parts im having trouble looking
Where abouts in the world are you?
@@budgethomeclassics I'm in LA
@@budgethomeclassics where can I find parts?
Nice video! I'm currently considering putting a rover V8 in my JH, and am wondering what else I'll need apart from the V8 itself (currently have a low comp 3.9 from a range rover laying around). Did you do the transplant yourself? If so, do you have a list of things you had to get apart from the engine (and probably a gearbox)
Hi! Thanks for watching! I did all the work myself, biggest problem youll have is getting the exhaust manifold/headers past the steering column. im about to remove this engine as its knocking, and replace it with one ive rebuilt. But theres loads of bits that need doing first that i ignored first time round. Ill talk about it all in that upcoming video, so stay tuned to find out bud 🤘🏻
The only thing custom made is the propshaft. Oh and the gearbox is a 5 speed LT77 👍🏻
@@budgethomeclassics Perfect! I'll await your vid! Engine mounts will probably have to be custom too right? the LT77 from a SD01 or something right? I can get one from a landy but that will have a transfer case i think. Not sure I want to make the JH AWD yet haha
I really wish you'd wear safety specs. I have 1st hand experience of damage that can be done by not wearing them. Other than that, love your videos. Watched all your VW T3 videos as I've just bought my own. Absolutely no intention of buying a Scimitar but watching the series anyway 😊
Thanks for the tip! Ive had a few discs explode on me and carry the scars. the vest majority of the time in the workshop i do wear them. Thanks for watching! Im almost to the end of the T3 now, so will be moving onto something else soon. I dont own the scimitar anymore unfortunately, sorted the welding, got the engine running and sold it as a running project. Thanks for commenting :)
thanks for the vid, going to be rebuilding my own 3.5 in an SD1 :)
Noiceee! About 3500 miles after this vid this engine started knocking. So im currently swapping it for a spare ive got and will be doing a full rebuild on it so more to come! Love the shape of an SD1!
@@budgethomeclassics Oof, I suppose you can only keep reviving it for so long. good luck on the next one :D
Fantastic work Frank 👏 enjoyed the vid
Cheers Russ! 🤘🏻
put small saw cuts into the timber to aid the bending, great work though
Thanks for the tip!
Great work... I'm glad I used my super big mug for a cup of tea 😂...
Little sips.
Brilliant job, well done.
Tea beats shandy every time.
Frank Frank Frank…wondering if you would consider doing a vid series on installing that sexy V8 into the VW van replete with all the necessary adapters & mods. Please, please!
Hahaha duuudeee! When i had the engine out of my van i did measure things up and take a look. V8 wont fit without big changes, potentially a ford V6? Unfortunately the van is my daily at the minute while i engine swap the Jensen so i cant rip it to pieces at the minute!
Oh that sound!!! I want that engine
Cracking job on the work top, that oil is a game changer 👌
Couldnt believe how well it turned out!
Nice.
Thanks!
That's not a biscuit reference for a change.😉 I meant nice worktop.
😂
Patience of a saint you…
Sometimes They send these things to test us! Haha
Enjoying your videos on the van conversion! One recommendation I can make if you do any more upholstery is to first fit calico over the foam. It’s easy to work with and can be stretched to the correct tension. The finishing fabric can then be fitted over it more easily as you have compacted the foam.
Thats a great suggestion! Ive never heard of that stuff before. I will have to revisit the seats again i think and ill definitely keep this idea in mind. Thanks for the tip 🤘🏻
Oh sweet baby Jesus I hope Mine comes out like that ! Pray for me lads. Pray for me
Nicely done. I just bought mine and dressed it up but it was cool to see the process. Love the webbing straps.. going to add those everywhere now.
Haha great stuff! Im glad i could help in some way 🤘🏻
Do any of us reallyyy know how to speak Spanish? 😂
You just put O on the end, surely? “Emergency-o el petrol bag-o!”
Good to see it coming along
Thanks Rich!
Custard creams rule, well done.
Im a fast learner.
15:28 Good man.
first comment!! Been up to date to all the progress and you're doing amazing, it's looking incredible!! love your videos, salutations from a fellow t3 owner in the process of converting it into a home, i'm very inspired by your work and i've also learned a lot, tysm! <3
Thank you so much, those are some very kind words! This is great news and completely heart warming to hear! What an exciting time! If theres anything you want me to cover or any questions, get hold of me on insta or drop me an email! :) Good luck with the build!
@@budgethomeclassics Thank you so much, you're so kind! A proyect like this is very exciting, also exhausting, but there's this wholesome feeling of watching everything turn out good in the end, it has no price. Watching how you adapt and overcome obstacles with good spirit and fun is very inspiring, keep it up you're doing great! And thanks for the support, i dropped a message on insta and also to tell you that the first comment i posted at minute 1 so i didn't see the spanish/portuguese map. I speak native spanish so let me know if you need anything, i'd be very happy to help with the translation! :)
