How To Test A Treadmill DC Drive Motor | Quick and Easy!

Here we test a DC Drive Motor With A Drill Battery to see if we can "excite" a drive motor. Note: If you reverse the polarity of the battery relative to the inputs of the drive motor, no worries it just sends the drive motor in the opposite direction of normal travel. It does not harm the motor. Also Note: This doesn't necessarily test the virility of the motor. It just tells you whether or not...
Elliptical Not Working? | Simple Fix!

A simple fix for a BIG problem! Background: Most commercial grade cardio that's not a treadmill (basically means Steppers, Ellipticals, Upright and Recumbent Bikes) use a generator based system. An issue I’m having that I can’t seem to fix: the treadmill belt is centered when I am not on it. The belt stays centered when powered on. However, when I get on the belt it drifts to the right. I compensated by over adjusting the belt to the left so it ends up centered when I add my weight to it. I don’t know how to fix this and just have it centered and also stay centered with my weight.

    Does having a auxiliary power plugged in help with battery problems of Lateral X?

    • @hydrafitnessexchange
      @hydrafitnessexchange 16 днів тому

      If the Supply Voltage and Current mimic exactly what a lateral x Battery system provides, then yes... This unit is an anomaly because it is 24v supply, two 12v Batteries connected in Series. Note. it is not enough to supply 24v, the current demands must be met as well.

      @@hydrafitnessexchange : Thanks for the response. Providing a 30V 4A Dc supply, positive polarity in central pin seems to have helped mine. Not sure whether it triggered the charging cycle or that is enough to replicate the battery provided. Either way £25 power supply helped without replacing the batteries.

Here is out tech database if you need it: www.hydrafitnessexchange.com/technicians If you wish to explore the issue, first make sure to unplug your machine. When you say the belt has shifted to the left, do you mean the back of the belt or the front?

    • @hydrafitnessexchange
      @hydrafitnessexchange Місяць тому

      I am assuming you mean near the front roller or rear roller. Good question. Never really thought of whether the front or back is off. But I will say at the beginning of the video I point to where the belt looks off. The front roller is fixed in position. The rear roller is the one being adjusted. I would assume then the back of the belt (Where rear roller is) is where the belt has shifted the most. The front of the belt (Where the front roller is) is not as shifted since the front roller is in a fixed position. Please let me know if this is what you were asking and if it has helped in anyway! 😁

    • @hydrafitnessexchange
      @hydrafitnessexchange Місяць тому

      Definitely worth a try! You can start by removing the shrouds covering the brake and resistance motor. It's just a couple of screws. Take a look at your resistance motor, external brake cable, wiring throughout the machine, and your eddy brake to see if anything looks off or broken. Sometimes wires not being seated properly can cause issues. Then turn on your machine. Bump the levels on the machine up and down while monitoring the cam of the resistance motor to see if it even turns at all. If not, then you might need a new resistance motor. If it does move, as explained in the video, see if the cable is aligned properly for it to create resistance. If so, then you want to look at your eddy brake. Some eddy brakes you can peak into to see if the internal brake cables are working and good. We have another video looking into that here: ua-cam.com/video/VnzIuItOeRA/v-deo.html

    I have followed your instructions and the belt does move back to the right and centers itself. Do I stop with the admustments at that point. How do I "set" it to stay centered. ...when I get back on the treadmill, it drifts back to the left. What am I forgetting to do?

    • @hydrafitnessexchange
      @hydrafitnessexchange Місяць тому

      The belt may be too loose. You can tighten each side of the rear roller by doing 1/2 turn on each side. Make sure not to over tighten the belt as this could lead to damaging the belt and other components of the treadmill. You can test this by placing your hand under the belt after adjusting the rear roller on each side. See how far across the deck you can reach. You don't want to be able to reach farther than the middle of the deck. If you aren't confident about this procedure, we highly suggest getting a technician to do the job: www.hydrafitnessexchange.com/technicians Here is our tech database to find someone near you. Do you know how to get the belt from slipping backwards too fast? Mine feels like someone is pulling a rug out from under me and scares me that I might fall forward. Is that a case of tightening and/or needing lubricant?

    • @hydrafitnessexchange
      @hydrafitnessexchange 25 днів тому

      @@capricornstars4083 You may need to tighten it. You can check if its too loose by placing your hand underneath the belt and seeing how far you can comfortably reach across the deck. If your hand goes more than halfway across the deck with not much resistance, then it needs to be tightened. As far as lubricant, check to see if it has too much or not at all. Place your hand underneath the belt and feel if the deck is very oily or very dry. Can I use a surge protector?

    • @hydrafitnessexchange
      @hydrafitnessexchange 4 місяці тому

      The best way you can protect your treadmill from surges is by unplugging it from the wall outlet. Typically, it's not recommended because the power demands of a treadmill are very big and can cause a treadmill to stop abruptly in operation.

    Thanks a lot for your videos on treadmills! I bought my first treadmill recently and the manual was atrocious. It doesn't explain HOW to do anything, it just says "lubricate every 2-6 months" without describing how, how much lubricant to use, how to loosen/tighten the belt, how much usage is considered "frequent", etc., and how to maintain/protect the whole thing in general. Your videos are such a great help!

    Hello, I own a Smooth Fitness V380 bike, and I've encountered an issue when I try to change the resistance. Although it shows on the screen, nothing actually happens. Could you guide me? I've opened the bike to check, and the small motor did turn at one point. But I'm wondering, does the bike need to be in motion for the motor to work?

    • @hydrafitnessexchange
      @hydrafitnessexchange 4 місяці тому

      Here are two helpful videos we made regarding resistance issues on bikes and ellipticals:ua-cam.com/video/ecJMwxd74f4/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/VnzIuItOeRA/v-deo.html

    • @hydrafitnessexchange
      @hydrafitnessexchange 4 місяці тому

      Regarding your question about "does the bike need to be in motion for the motor to work?" The answer is no. It should still adjust the resistance when you push the buttons. Unless the bike is a self generating bike where it uses no power cord. If it self generates upon motion and doesn't need a power cord to turn on, then yes the motor won't work unless you are physically in motion.

    Does this help get some of the silicon lube off?

    • @hydrafitnessexchange
      @hydrafitnessexchange 4 місяці тому

      Silicon Lubricant is particularly hard to remove since it's meant to keep slippery for long periods of time under pressure. This video is meant for general cleaning purposes only and may help a little with silicon removal. Depending on how much is on the belt, you may have to continuously clean the belt and possibly use some cleaning solution. There are some articles online that can help with removing silicon from the belt. If it is stained through the belt then we'd recommend buying a new belt and replacing the old one. We might be able to provide you with that depending on the model of your machine.

      Seems you accidently accessed a hidden feature in ifit for downloading apps onto the console. There's a pattern of presses you do to access this feature. You can cancel that. We suggest redo the steps in this video but this time wait instead of pressing the button so much. After some time, like a couple of minutes, try pressing the retry button again.

    I have an Octane Q47e elliptical whose maximum resistance has been slowly decreasing over time, making it too easy to pedal, even at level 20. Is there a way to adjust the brake cable to make it more difficult to pedal the elliptical when using levels 15-20?

    • @hydrafitnessexchange
      @hydrafitnessexchange 5 місяців тому

      Sounds like a part may need to be replaced if it is gradually weakening. The last thing you want is a warn cable breaking or the resistance motor giving out. We have not worked on resistance issues with octanes as of yet. So not quite sure if adjusting the cable would work, but too be honest we suggest calling a technician to properly handle the issue.
