Incline and Stride Problems on Your Elliptical? Quick FIX!
Thank you for the video, it's incredibly helpful.
Glad it helped you out! 😁
Glad I found this video. We read-up on the power entry module (PEM) and noted it has 4 features: female connection for power cord, on/off switch, dual fuses and an EMI filter. Using a DMM, we were able to confirm 120v were leaving the PEM and getting to the wiring that connects at the motor control board. That caused us to suspect a bad capacitor on the lower board, but we wondered if the EMI filter on the PEM was causing a problem. Invested $20 + shipping on a TE Connectivity Corcom PEM from Ebay (DigiKey has them too), installed it and it is back to life. Thanks.
I have a Elliptical E35. The drive belt is worn out, because it want to go on the side. Any idea why?
You'll want to make sure the belt is seated directly in the middle of the pulleys and the ribbing is seated properly in the grooves of the pulley. Not only that, but that there is adequate tension on the belt so it is not moving around. There probably isn't enough tension which in that case you'll have to look at belt tensioner. Make sure the bolts are not loose on the tensioner and that the tensioner is fixed in a position where the belt is held firm in place.
Is the machine plugged in while you’re doing this?
Either turn the treadmill switch off or unplug it before moving forward with these steps.
Thanks. I think I can work with that video.
Amazing video! I haven’t even gone to adjust it yet but you gave me all the information I will need, especially the image at the end showing all the outcomes! Your rock! Hoping anybody having treadmill issues stumbles across your channel!
Really appreciate your comment bro! Glad to be of help! 😁👍
How about doing a video on walking belt replacement for this machine? I can’t find one anywhere on YT. Thanks.
We did do a deck replacement video which includes taking the walking belt off and putting it back on. Maybe check it out: ua-cam.com/video/ubqZvZ9rllQ/v-deo.html Hope this helps!
I put silicone spray on my deck and belt when it’s a paraffin wax only deck what are my options now should I clean the silicone off then just use your wax or do I need to buy a new board and belt ?
What does it feel like after you have applied the silicone spray when you run on it? Positive improvement or negative?
@ well it don’t even feel or look like it’s been oiled so I loosened the belt and wiped all the silicone off the rollers and the deck the belt still looks dry so I’m thinking about just putting wax on it what do you think ?
@@homecooking2075 That should be fine. You can get our wax stick here if you'd like: www.hydrafitnessexchange.com/part/hydra-treadmill-wax-applicator-/287139
@@hydrafitnessexchange no after reading the other guys comments I’ve realised your just a con artist and I will be buying a candle stick instead
@homecooking2075 Simple. There is no treadmill user manual that says weigh and melt candles. The beautiful thing is it's a free country so if you want to apply tangerine scented candles in your deck... Go for it. The video is mainly about lubricating wax based decks and where to get parafin wax/applicator set to make it easy.
My Proform PFTL13113.6 console turns on but only speed 5 and 11 work all other buttons don’t function what can I do to fix the issue if the console isn’t available
It is most likely a bad console membrane. You'd have to replace the console. Hopefully there will be one available soon. If you do not have a warranty maybe try to find someone giving theirs away via facebook marketplace and bargain for just the console. We'd offer you one if we had one in stock, but unfortunately we do not at the moment. If you need a tech to further diagnose your issue here's our tech database: www.hydrafitnessexchange.com/technicians
@ good news I fixed my console removed all ribbons and wiped them with alcohol and presto all good
@@esantibanez2957 Nice! Definitely keeping this in mind for the future as a possible solution.
I want to buy one of these, this is going to help. Thank you. 🙂
No problem! Glad to be of service 😊
Thanks😊
No problem! 👍
I hate these machines with a passion. 2 of them in 3 years have died. Never again.
Lol NordicTrack seems to have ifit issues with consoles a lot. Updates crashing the machine and what not. Hope you found yourself something reliable!
It’s just over priced candle wax !!!!
It is paraffin wax yes, but the value is the applicator and wax combo. To get your own wax and use your own hand to smear it on the deck or toss it underneath the belt of the treadmill is just not efficient, messy, and you could possibly misjudge how much you are putting on the deck that way. and if you put too much it will build on the rollers and cause more damage to your machine. Plus, you got to reach under the belt across the deck which is just not comfortable and hard. The convenience factor of the applicator saves time. You could buy coffee beans yourself and go through the whole process of grounding, straining, and what have you or you could just go to starbucks and pay a little higher for the convenience, work done for you, and save time. The point is, the value your buying into is not just the wax, but the applicator which saves you the hassle, mess, and time.
@ you can just loosen the belt melt a candle then put it on the deck for 50 pence
@@aabc84 If you would like to put in all that work, go for it. I would think it'd be hard to fit a round candle underneath the belt which can only be loosened to certain extent or it'd be more of a hassle going through melting a candle and getting a stick to dip into the wax, then place underneath a treadmill belt without dripping it on the carpet or floor 😬
@ that’s why you melt the candle first turn it into liquid
Then spill it into the deck
We have a treadmill that stops working properly after a few minutes of use. Everything else, including the motor, is still running, but the belt stops moving. We can hear the motor trying to move the bely. We’ve tried using lubricants, but it hasn’t made any difference.
Have you looked at the other two possible issues stated in the video? If so, we have encountered a person with the same issue as yours but it was their motor controller board. It needed to be replaced. They owned an incline trainer.
We just got the Proform 400R recumbent bike and on 0 or 10, the reaistance is the same-max. We took it apart to look at the cable and motor. Both are fine. It appears that, with NO tension on the cable, the lever/ magnets default to max. We can push the lever forward, the magnets separate and theres no resistance. Then, it springs back, the magnets join, super resistance. Its like the motor would have to PUSH the cable to push the lever that separates the magnets. Is there a spring we are missing that would pull the lever forward and put the default setting to 0- magnets pulled apart?
If your resistance motor works fine and the external brake cable is fine (Set to the appropriate level on the cam and not frayed) then you may have broken internal brake cables within the brake itself. We did a video on this and link is in the description. If the internal brake cables are broken, those magnets will not move even if the external brake cable is pulling or pushing the lever, thus causing the max resistance issue you are facing. This is either the issue or it is the wrapping issue as described in the video above. Have you checked the internal brake cables or are you able to visually see the magnets in your eddy brake to see if they move upon switching levels in the machine?
I have horizon elite 507 treadmill which lube should I use
According to the manual it says wax is needed. It also warns to only use wax provided by Horizon Fitness. I don't know if they are saying this warning because they have a certain formula for the treadmill or they might be just trying to get more sales to the company lol. Regardless, wax is needed.
Thankyou so much .. this was really helpful ❤️
No problem! Glad to be a help 😊👍
Thanks, your video answered the question I had around a new treadmill with cushioning that appears slower than my old one or the gym treadmills I used. Metabolic cost is higher, it’s harder work, less fun.
Glad you found this useful! Definitely wanted to be thorough and provide accurate information.
Nice video. So if your exercise equipment is stuck on high resistance, then it's most likely the internal magnet cables are broken. I have a NordicTrack E7 sv, and my resistance is lowest level. The console works, and it registers the resistance working, but the resistance isn't working. I'll have to take it apart and maybe look at the cables, because I would presume if the resistance motor is shot, the console wouldn't be registering the resistance levels, so I'm presuming the motor is spinning, but the cable isn't doing anything. Also, it has a ramp that raises and lowers, where the wheels ride on, and it's stuck at 15%.
Lots going on there. Typically max resisistance constant while changing numerical values in console is usually the internal brake cables. hydrafitnessparts.com/products/octane-elliptical-eddy-current-internal-magnetic-brake-cable-pair-104763-001?ToPasteBoard& Definitely check if any cables are broken or not functioning properly if the resistance motor is working fine. From the sounds of the stuck motor may just be the controller board or maybe the incline motor.. Sometimes if they get "overdriven" they stick at the top. You're going to have to poke around and see what you can see.. Let us know what you find! PS We have another video regarding resistance issues that goes with bikes and ellipticals which may be helpful: ua-cam.com/video/ecJMwxd74f4/v-deo.html
Your channel is great! It has helped me alot.
Really appreciate the comment! Thank you! Glad to be of help 😊
I have 95t Life Fitness Tread. I installed new belt and flipped deck. The decks new sude has fresh wax. The mew belt has white fabric bottom. Do I need to add lube also, or will deck wax suffice?
If the deck already has wax on it, there is no need to lube some more. It should suffice. Just make sure to check it within the month to see if the deck is dry.
Also a reminder, it is recommended you do not mix wax with other lubes. Stick with wax if the machine came with wax or stick with silicone if the machine came with silicone.
This was very helpful, thank you 👍
No problem 😊
Great video. I have this same bike. My issue with the resistance is that at the lowest setting, 1, its kinda hard. Not as easy as the schwinn 270 that we had to replace. It increases as it should but it starts off harder than we would like. Is there was to decrease the resistance at level 1? Thanks!
In theory you could remove the cam and set it to a different position on the resistance motor that would cause the cable to be pulled more so there is even less resistance. But of course this is in theory, and we would not recommend altering the original setup of the machine unless the machine came not setup right by the previous owner or manufacturer. There are actually numbers on some resistance motors that look like a clock which locate what position the cam is in. If yours has this, that may be helpful with adjusting the position and testing resistance.
I have a NordicTrack Airglide 14i, and the magnetic resistance is all based on the same principles. My machine is new (but I bought it secondhand, hence no warranty), and the resistance is way to high (I am in good shape and workout routinely). I have adjusted the cable to the lowest setting (pulled back) and loosening the axel nut based on iFIT support's advice. There was some improvement, but it is way too difficult and no fun. Any fix you might have would be appreciated.
Did you check the internal brake cables of the brake itself?
No, but that means taking out the magnetic resistor, which is quite an effort but doable for me. Before that, I need to understand what is normal for the 14i. It is not well covered on UA-cam or the Nordic Track web site. For example, why is the goal RPM set so low, which is odd?
We would suggest contacting Icon Service. Or try to find a tech that can really look into this issue further. Our video is based on an internal brake cable issue which may or may not be what your going through. Depending on the brake itself, you may be able to peek inside and see if there is any breaks in the internal cables. That's about all we can suggest. Here is a tech database we have if you choose to go this route: www.hydrafitnessexchange.com/technicians
So what about back wheel drive. I was kinda thinking about one of those
Rear drive ellipticals are great. But of course, whatever machine suits your body the most that is what we recommend. See how you feel on it. If you feel good on the machine, that is the machine you'll likely use the most and get better results with meeting your fitness goals. It is always better to test it out than buy because of all the ads or promoted "bells and whistles" it has. Now, rear drive ellipticals you'll find to be in gyms a lot. They are commercial pieces built to last and built to undergo heavy usage, hence the better build quality stated in the video which in tern leads to higher prices on these machines. So if you have many people using it, it can take it. But if it is just you on the piece and you're not really planning on putting to much mileage on it, it'd be better to get a residential machine like the soles we mentioned in the video. Also, if you have any injuries you are trying to work around or rehabilitate, this machine may not be best for you. Incline can irritate any knee problems. But of course, you do not have to use incline if you don't want to. Hope this helps.
You dont lubricate the belt if it has fresh wax on deck.
Thanks for the comment 😁Of course. Hence why I mentioned lubricate if the deck is dry.
My threadmill says it doesnt need lubrication. But i have and still got the crease. What i do wrong?
A crease in the treadmill walking belt is caused because of an overtightened belt. The belt was probably too tight and needed to be loosened.
As for certain treadmills never needing lubrication, we highly recommend checking the owners manual about it's maintenance. There have been occasions where sales people will tell the customer that the treadmill will not need lubricating since it is pre-waxed or pre-lubed. All treadmills need maintenance though. If the manual confirms no need for lubrication, then you should be fine.
Excellent!!! What if I hear some sort of rubbing on the right side ??
May need to be centered. This sound occurs because of several reasons, but one is definitely from a belt not centered. Another reason could be the treadmill is not leveled and when you are on it it will tilt a bit. You can adjust the levelers underneath to fix this issue and also make sure where ever it is placed the floor is also leveled.
What is the use of the safety key?
It is actually supposed to be clipped to your shirt. So if there is an emergency where you need to stop the machine, you can pull the string and the machines belt will immediately stop. If you are drifting back towards the end of the machine due to fatigue or some health related issue, your shirt will tug the string and stop it. Most people do not need or use this though.
Mine keeps saying "belt off" do you know how I can fix that? I've adjusted the belt but it seems to be an electric sensor keeps kicking the belt off
How often do you lubricate your treadmill? Typically this is a lower board issue due to it getting too hot since a lack of lubrication will cause more belt friction on the deck, which intern will cause more spikes in current draw through the board.
Thank you for your help….. saved me the trouble of calling a repair shop
No problem! Glad to hear it saved you money! 😁👍
Super helpful video...
Glad it was useful to you! 😁
Great job. I looked around to solve this problem and got all kinds of answers, even from the manufacture itself. Your simplicity in explaining it made it work. Thanks.
Really glad it helped you out! Tried to be precise and informative 😁
I have a NordicTrack commercial x22i Mine suddenly stops and then starts again but not with fan on, just does randomly during the workout.
Someone else had the same issue and it was actually their motor controller board being bad. Had to replace it. Here's a video we did a while ago on replacing a drive motor in an X9i: ua-cam.com/video/jw6tfjODnGs/v-deo.html Should be the same or a very similar process since incline trainers are very similar. In any case we recommend making sure to contact a technician to properly diagnose the issue: www.hydrafitnessexchange.com/technicians Motor controller boards are very costly 😬 Hope you got a warranty on that machine...
I bought a Nordic a few months ago and mine is the same electrics are fine but belt keeps stopping. I’m going to contact Nordic as I’ve only had it a 2 months an been running outside more than I’m treadmill. It’s annoying as you set it all up an then works a few times then stops
May be the Motor Controller Board. This was an issue we fixed for someone in the past where their belt was stopping suddenly. We definitely suggest contacting NordicTrack or Icon Service about your issue.
@@paulhortop2581 If it has been only two months, we hope you have a warranty 😬 Definitely want to contact NordicTrack or Icon Service for assistance.
I have a walking pad and it juts or jerk foward intermittently any thing I can do for that?
Can you give us the name of the machine?
@@hydrafitnessexchangei have a hometro walking pad and it seems to jerk or catch when i walk on it but not when it is running freely. How can i fix that?
@@joellediwan849 It may just need some tightening of the walking belt which you can access at the rear via two rear roller bolts on the left or right side of the treadmill. Just do a quarter of a turn on either side and check if the belt is still causing issues. The belt should be at the tightness where your hand can't reach across the whole surface if you put your hand underneath the belt. You should only be able to reach halfway or a bit under halfway. In any case we recommend hiring a technician to further diagnose your issue. Here is our tech database to look one up near your area: www.hydrafitnessexchange.com/technicians

❤Thanks for the video. Any tips if the treadmill seems to work fine BUT the speed is slow by about 25% compared to the displayed speed (distance as well).
Is this a new change that has happened? Did it feel good when you first got the machine and now it feels off in terms of speed?
@hydrafitnessexchange Thanks for the reply. New controller fixed it, and potentiometer works on new controller, so I was able to dial it in for tighter accuracy at the key speed.
@@GT-kx6hm Awesome! Glad the issue has been solved 👍
My issue is that resistance does change but at the highest setting it still feels weak. I was wondering if adding more magnets would improve this? I have a Sole E35.
Sounds like an issue with how your external brake cable may be wrapped around your resistance motor cam. We made a video showing how this is properly assembled: ua-cam.com/video/ecJMwxd74f4/v-deo.html Let us know if this helps!

Thank you so much for the video. I'm trying to fix a Freemotion recumbent bike. The problem is, on the easiest setting it is harder than I want. On the harder settings it is difficult to even peddle. I want to set it so there is less resistance overall. Would love your thoughts on how to fix this. Thanks
Awesome! Thanks!
No problem!

Hello there i am Subscribed to your channel in youtube i have a problem with the screen of ubk 825 precor bike not working even though the power is reaching it. When i starts riding the bike, there are red and green lights flashing behind the screen in the electronic part where the electronic components are located. However, it does not work. Is there any advice for me to know whats the problem ? I have a model ubk 825 Can you help plz to solve the problem Thank you 🙏
When you say "it does not work" what exactly do you mean by that? Does the console clearly show on the screen data or is it flickering or fading? Does the console not function properly when pressing buttons? Does the resistance work on the machine? And when you say you see red and green lights, is that within the console when removing the backing of it or is that the screen itself when you are about to ride?
Hi. Thanks for the informative video. I've been using my elliptical for a few years. The tension cable is in good shape and is tied correctly. Recently, I am getting a 'motor error' message when I try to increase resistance. The motor moves the cable only slightly, then the error message appears.
You may need a new motor. What is the model of your machine?

Glad to be of help!
Is it safe to pick these up and move them around?
These are non-foldable machines with hefty weight to them. It is safer to use a four wheeler cart to place underneath and move it around than hand lift.
