Real life fact. the Area where the captain goes in. the wheelhouse. That area was all made of timber. & In the first 500 ft. When the mast snapped back. It was completely destroyed before it reached bottom. Most likely in the first 500 ft the captains body if he was in there. Most likely floated out or was crushed. Same way with britannic was made of wood the Bridge area.

I'm my opinion, this is THE most cinematic moment in movie history and hardly any words are spoken. You can never change my mind.

The “your money cannot save you more than it can save me” is a heavily underused line it should be more used.

4:00 I actually played this on my clarinet at a church for evening mass once, all the way through, in 2005. And when I went to see this in 2012 since I never saw it when it first came to theaters in 1997, I used my arms and fingers to simulate playing it again since I previously sold my instrument in 2008 to afford going to Texas. As my fingers moved from each note I played with the band on the screen, from when it started, and halfway through the music... I broke into tears, even after it ended, and I finished. I was still in tears, even during the priest's Hail Marys, the prayers he was saying, the sins he was absolving passengers of, and after the ship finally went down, too, but I was eventually out of it until the film was over. Even after I stopped playing, and looking back on it now, it showed me two things: I regretted selling my instrument in 2008, despite needing to be able to afford the trip to Texas, and I was just as horrified and emotional to see what was happening during the sinking, as the survivors were during the real event of the day the Titanic sank.

i never really liked women and children first in situations like these. its not like the population is near extinction or a certain group people about to die out. so many lives wouldve been saved if it was a first come, first serve.

If I were on the Titanic with the people who are in deep chaos, panic, close to death, and all, I would’ve grabbed a seat and listen to these guys playing this tune without being in fear. It pains my heart to see all these people in peril in the Atlantic, in the middle of nowhere, without any help from other national boats, without helping each other, just everything we would’ve seen if we were in 1912 - God determines what happens when something bad happens, our prayers definitely goes to the victims of some who can’t do anything but accept the death they witnessed as the boat sinks because it’s a sense of uplifting and hope that as the Priest says, “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes… And there shall be no more death. Neither shall there be sorrow or crying. Neither shall there be anymore pain. For the former world has passed away.” For those who have been killed along with the boat, We Absolve You, and that’s an Amen. Titanic truly feels like a gift coming from filmmaker James Cameron and his crew that made this movie one of the Holy Grails in history of movies.

Even though the only reason Cal grabbed the child was to save himself but at least he saved the child. He could see the heartbreak in his eyes when he saw her crying. I think more than anything that’s the reason he went back for her. I think REAL men of this era would of done the same
