I'm a 29 year old FtM. Started T on July 16/09, and had top surgery on April 27/09.
I have had challenges with my family, they don't accept me for who I am but are back in my life and treating me with respect. I am here if anyone wants to talk about coming out or just needs support.

Just a little update on how things have been. Had a hysterectomy just over a month ago, had been having really bad abdominal pains and knew I needed the hysto. Feeling much better now.

Are u alive?
Hey Adam, was wondering how you've been. Nice to see you :)
@ryanhowardlee Thanks :)
@hollymichigan Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if I might have to take something to make me have my period because there might be too much build-up. Mine stopped right after I started T, so it has been a while. I won't go off T to have my period because that just messes with my hormones too much, but I will see about getting progesterone to see if that will help. I'll try to get in to see a doctor about it soon.
Good vid glad to see your doing well!
That was really great, Adam
You´re fab! One of my best friends is transgender (FTM) and he is amazing. I understand that this must be such a bigger deal in relgious countries like the US, here in Sweden most people a rationalist thinkers (atheists) so we don´t have to grow up with religious bullshit being forced down our throats.
QueerSwede1 Real God loving people that understand Him, know that we have no right to judge anyone. I don't go to the corrupt churches in the U.S., I have learned by studying on my own. The bible clearly states to love one another as I have loved you. Those were Jesus words. The world pushes the ideology on us to hate other races, dislike others that you don't relate to. Well, I dont listen to the worldy ways, I honor God, and I we are all HIS children. And you are my brothers snd sisters. God bless you on your journey. We all are sinners, but Jesus paid that at the cross. we are all his children and he loves us each and every one all you have to do it is accept his free gift of salvation.
@MrRikard1990 I'm glad it helped. If you need to talk or vent or anything send me a message. Stay strong, life is worth living.
Thanks for sharing...belive this is my favorite of all the "it gets better" videos i watched (and thats over 100 atleast)... What i needed to keep fighting. Much of the things u describe is things i been through to... Really glad to hear things got better for u :) thanks and hope things keeps getting even better :D //Rikard
thanks for sharing your story, have a great week!
Thank you for this.
@nobodycareslol it sounds like you are lucky! thats awesome. I'm Canadian and have found that there are some places here that are more accepting than others. It definitely helps if you life in a more open minded place.
@hipsterp Thanks, I just spoke from my heart. Its sad that we have to deal with all this additional fear of how our own families will treat us. I hope your parents come around!
@peppyvalina Thank you :)
Adam Thanks for sharing your story!!! I know stories like yours are all toooooo common in the trans world. Good luck with everything from here on out. It will get better and better slowly but surely!
@WinnipegBeardieBubba Sweet!! Thanks for the advice, I will give that a try.
Good luck with your new job and with your continued healing. Your roommate sounds awesome. Keep her happy with your developing baking skills. I hope this next T-year goes a lot better. This year you are in full control of your birthday. Do something real special for yourself and stop expecting others to be part of it. I hope you realized some of those adventures you look to.
@joker7312 things were pretty crazy but better now :)
happy to see you back alive and happier :)
looken good man...i just saw my doctor today...i have gained to much weight apparently... :s
I'm so glad to hear that you're alive. Great to see a vid, but the reasons you've been away for so long sound important haha. You look and sound amazing!!! Can't wait to hear some of the clips. You're voice change is more drastic than mine I think. Good luck with the girl. I'm pretty shy myself, so I definately know how ya feel.
Thanks buddy! I have not seen your vids :( I will watch the ones that are there when I have the chance. I definitely wanna know whats been going on!!
thanks :)
lets see an update :)
dude i want to thank you for posting this video. i'm going to mclean tomorrow to have my sponges and tape removed and i was getting kinda freaked about it but watching this (over and over and over again) has given me some idea of what to expect. so thanks again!
good for u man
holy voice change dude
i have buzzed my head, but i donno about completely shaving it...lol
thanks lil bro! :)
country music is the best!!
good luck to you too!
WOO HOO! Good luck man! Glad we're both doin this challenge.
it moved from my hips and i think some has moved from my thighs. not a lot has moved but i have noticed a difference.
the fat that went to ur stomach...were did it come from? i havent noticed my fat moving around yet and i want it to leave my hips...congrats on the voice drop...
thanks :) its so cool how we started T at the same time! its nice to see your changes happening at the same time and stuff..
i think you are right about that...they also probably don't care becasue the amount of guys that need to sit is very few and they also don't think about transguys that need to use the washroom too.
I think they might take for granted that they can pee standing up. They just whip it out and go. That and they dont have to sit as often as we do/did. haha. I'm sure it's a multitude of reasons.
Love your voice drop. Sounds great. And I'm glad you mentioned the weight redistribution. I keep forgetting to mention that.
I had my consultation in early march and had the surgery at the end of april. I could have booked the surgery for earlier but had to wait till school was done before i could have my surgery.
I think i had to go in there 6 times in total. It was a lot of money but it was worth it. Although I am only 40 minutes away, so it wasn't too bad to get there. I know that dr mclean likes to see you to make sure everything is ok. but at your consultation you could definitely ask him if you can go to your own dr for most of the appointments. That clinic is amazing to deal with and you can call them anytime with questions.
The sponges didn't really hurt coming off. There was a little pulling. They were stitched on, so some of the stitches were a little hard to get out. The sponges were itchy, so it was nice to have them off! lol. I only wore a binder for 3 weeks, but you normally have to wear one for 6 weeks. I was in too much pain with the binder on because of a car accident i had a few years ago.
I would definitely recommend the McLean Clinic! They are great. I am in the Niagara Region.
Thats right! We don't have to be on T to have Top Surgery. Dr McLean knew i wasn't on T and had no problem with that. I was originally going to wait until after starting T to have surgery, but couldn't wait any longer. I didn't even see a therapist before either, I had a counselor at school but thats about it. I had a lot of meetings with my Dr though, hes awesome!!
from what I understand...ftms don't even have to start t to have top surgery. I've heard you can pick and choose what's right for you. It doesn't all have to be the same for everyone. You may want to ask another therapist or something.
I just called the surgeon and booked the appointment. No letter is required here for top surgery. Its harder to get on T here than it is to have top surgery (if you have the money for the surgery).
i donno about the penetration thing either..lol..i'd probably be more willing to date another transguy or a CIS gendered guy that is understanding of things. I just know that i have never looked at guys like this, and its weird...lol. I'm ok with it though. It could definitely be the surge in hormones, I definitely want to learn more about it.
Thanks for the info AJ! Thats good to know. Hopefully it doesn't last a year :S that would suck..lol
thanks Alex :)
you look awesome! your voice has def changed!
it seems to! and I love it :)
