Lots of people can learn from Esther, I remember writing to Esther in the late sixties early seventies when I was a child explaining how miserable I was at home and she replied to me explaining that there was nothing she could do directly though she did say I was welcome to the studios to see how the programme was made. I never did reply back though I wish I did.

On holiday, so actually had a chance to “Tune In” for the full 2 hours, on a what would normally be a working day! Live Aid was the broadcast of my generation (X), no internet, mobile phones or plethora of TV content to continually distract us and blank VHS, was really expensive! Everyone enjoying themselves on the day, old and new performers delivering their best until …. the Cars video of Drive, showed the actual impact of famine, bringing everyone to tears, focussing us all on the purpose. As a broadcaster for 25 years. it still amazes me how the analogue satellite linkage, was planned, negotiate and delivered to near seamlessly join the two international concerts making them one. But then Live 8 pushed the boundaries further helping to cancel significant debt and increased G8 aid by $25bn to African nations, with a call to action that was based on social purpose rather than the historical echo of “Give us the ******* Money”. Also had a dash more, dare I say it, Diversity here in London! Fantastic to hear about Harvey’s extensive career, before and after, which I really never appreciated. Great broadcast, thanks Harvey, Andrew and to all my RTS colleagues and friends.

This was so good, I was actually the last question I asked and what my point was is when you’ve got a bunch of bad TV shows or a bad or good TV shows and movies about a particular subject would that influence it coming out based on that, so obviously Super Mario Bros wasn’t well received for those who are fans on the show But something like nightmare which was so ahead of its time and everything that was such a positive experience and there’s a little hidden references so Steve Neil Sampat salon and Ellie Gibson. I do actually know personally and I met Steve through nightmare. Live in Milton Keynes, which was a dream come true for me because I love the show wanted to go on it, but didn’t have any friends to do it And one of the things that I found out that Stapleton video game comedian fantastic and I’ve actually been to the filming of a couple of the car babe it’s one of which I was actually cosplaying as link which I thought was kind of awesome. Can you be in the next audience please and I’m like I would love to but I’m working the next day and I’m going to be absolutely tired and I’ve had nothing to do to it, I was like yeah I would love to but I’m the one guess that I really missed was Jonathan Ross. I would love to have been on that typing but I flew out to America on that day so on holiday but yeah it was really it was such a good panel and it was actually filmed at the ITV studios as well which was amazing.

Just are just 3 studios at 'TV Centre' now, - 1, 2 and 3 which happen to be their original numbers as they count from the left hand side of the building which is the bit still used for TV. The wall with the famous dots is the outside wall of Studio 1, home of the Graham Norton show as well as other programmes.

I'm a very late disciple of this series .. & you commentary about the UK-raection is very obvious, but '83's links to apartheaid/Africa would have an EVEN MORE relevant context to all the SouthernAfrican people like my generation, who probably are now considered the "diaspora" .. that my UK-colleagues dont quite get, yet the series is a wonderful chronology of the pre-Soviet collapse that we have all forgotten, especially after the .COM bubble tsunami that washed away Soviet-socialism .. yet ironically you mentioned Putin .. & today his spectre-phoenix has arisen in today's Ukraine. .. from the Western post-COVID chaos .. !

Thank you so much to all involved in this video, an absolute gem! A fascinating insight into the technical history of UK television, a real education. Can I ask are there any 1,250 line video recordings still in existence, are there any VTR's that can still play them? The HD video in this production appears to be converted to SD. We need more videos like this, in fact ironically it's better than the content of broadcast television today! Well done all, I salute you.

Can't believe they decided to demolish most of the studios. With the way things went in London with itv London studios, BBC television centre could have become 'Media City London' with all studios retained, itv and BBC using office space and flats built on the outer ring (scenery and restaurant blocks) it could have been something!!
