Spend the extra and go half inch head studs.
I'm thinking of using mazworx arp2000 headstuds they r rated for the same 600hp as the block. It looks like it would b close to 1k more to run 1/2 studs and I just don't c the piont when im never even going to c 600 hp but ill ask mazworx for their opinion when I put in the order. Thx for u input tho, I definitely did some more research b4 responding
Brother how did you plumb and mount the thermostat housing? Need to sort mine out in the near future
I remote mounted the thermostat housing on the frame rail. Cut the metel flange on the other side about 4 inches away from the flange and found the right size hoses from my scrap bin and plumbed it all up. Im going to make a series of videos going into detail of the swap in the fall when the new engine goes in so stay tuned and hopefully they will help u out. Thx for watching!

Yea it is but I think my finances r in a better place so should b getting the new engine in acouple of months which gives me some motivation to get a head start on building the new turbo kit !
@@tougeindustry you aren’t going to use the extra block you have in the garage? Or would It be too much extra work? Can’t wait to see it again!
Yea its going to b too much work to try to mix match cuz I would still need machining on the head and at the end of the day i can get another vet for about 3k rn so I think it'll b the better route in the long run. Then save this block for the eventual sleeved fully built block I want
@@tougeindustry I see. Good plan! What are you going to do about the fuel pump? Just do a replacement? Will you be able to figure out why it failed?
I'm going to switch to detchwerks in the tank and surge tank ... one of the claims of the 400lph they sell is it doesn't burn up like their competitors so we will try that nothing is overheated in the wiri g so I have no reason to believe it was one my end but I haven't emptied the surge tank yet ... could have a broking wire who knows

Well since I will b getting a new engine in acouple of months I will try to show more in depth how I managed to get the drivetrain in the fc chassis
if you don’t mind me asking what were the torque specs to the hub and then the torque’s for the tl brakes ?
I don't know the torque spec unfortunately ... im sure u could Google the oe torque spec for the caliper to hub and just use that for both.
What wheels specs do you have here?

Thankfully the "rod knock" u hear is just my noisy cd-009 but yes u can c my face I thought it was rod knock 2. The next video will b me tearing it open to c if we can save the engine.... its not looking good tho 😕

Yupp it happened ... if I would have had the safety features on it would have saved the engine but I was having electrical issues and decided to ignore it, thinking it was a faulty sensor. Expensive mistake 😫 😕
Great work on the oil pan! I did a custom rear sump as well, but since spun a rod bearing in two engines. Just got the bottom end assembled after machining and oversized bearings. What would you recommend for oil pump? Also I was thinking of getting the CX racing rear sump kit to try and avoid any other oiling problems, unless I try to add baffling to my custom pan. What do you think?
A sr20ve pump is the way to go and and yea if u using a rwd det just buy the cx pan im using a fwd block so I have to make my own

Did you custom make the adaptor plate for the gearbox?
I have an autoworx sr(rwd)to vq its a half inch top half only plate .the exhaust side or the sr is the same (fwd to rwd) so I mounted the plate on the fwd block using the bolts that line up and then drilled holes and tapped the plate for the intake side also made brackets qnd drilled holes in the trans /oil pan to bolt it on the bottom .I also cut the starter ear off the block to run a rwd starter
Any tips and tricks with the vet motor? Im busy putting one into an s13 with a Z32 tranny, still busy with the adaptor plate. I found the S13s ca/sr bolt patterns for the alternator bracket and powersteering are the same for if ever you need to swap the sides of them since the vets P/S and alternator sit on opposite sides to a rwd SR
A rwd upper Sump will NOT fit on the vet since the girth of the Crank Cradle is much larger and protrudes out alot more, might be an issue on some cars that require some more subframe clearance
I just run the fwd alternator and fwd ps pump then custom rear sump pan and pickup tube also custom oil filter relocation plate. As long as u have tools for fabrication its pretty strait forward, use taarks products (cam sensor kit and vvl kit)
What do you do for the rear? does JDL offer anything for the rear?
No they don't. There is another company that makes a bracket to run the oe rear calipers but run a fd front rotor. I plan on buying the bracket next year! (Dont remember the name of the company but I will share when I buy it )

I wanted to put the black 19 inch q50 wheels on my g37x. You think spacers will be needed?
I have no clue . I have no experience with that sry
No but if you upgrade you brakes and get the Q50 wheels you will need spacers then because they will rub on the G37 platform
Is there any disadvantage from cutting that lip off the heat shield at all? Extra entry of dust or lack of cooling capabilites? Thanks.
Haven't noticed ne thing the almost 3 yrs I've been driving it qnd I do go off road onto gravel and dirt sometimes... so I would say no but I'm not the engineer that designed them either lol
Going to solid bushings was the ride significantly stiffer? Also did you notice a change in noise?
U can feel that is tighter(like the car felt good b4 but now u can feel how much slop was back there if that makes sense) but my doff was Winnie b4 and now it sounds like I have a sequential trans in the car now so that would b my one complaint but going to line the trunk with some audio sound detening and c that helps

Sounds just like mine. Turbokits setup? I got 250.4hp to the wheels and 214trq. I love it and it’s a beast now. Have fun with yours!
It is a turbo kit .com kit but I remade the exhaust and it has a .64 turbine housing instead of the .84 that comes with the kit
You should do a front big brake review. How does the car brake now? More bite? Less fade? How the the brake bias feeling

Nice work man, especially the welding. I just installed this very same kit In my 2003 Spyder. I’m running the supplied water/meth kit and just got back from my tuner last weekend. On his Dynocom dyno we managed 250.4hp and 217 torque! I’m on the south, Alabama, and I can tell you the engine compartment will defiantly cause heat soak in the summer months. I also removed my air vent tray and did the same bumper mod to help get that heat out. I’m installing and oil cooler as well which I think is a necessity with this kit. I went with PFC for tuning cause my tuner has a lot of experience with them as dated as they are lol. The numbers don’t lie though and the car is a whole new beast. I’ll keep an eye on you channel and will sub to keep updates. Cheers man!!!
P.S. I’m glad you did the drive by’s so I can hear how my car sounds while going by instead of just in it. I love it and glad I didn’t go with an added muffler, sounds mean!
How did the e brake come out? Was it threaded?
The cable is just held in like throttle cable so u unbolt the bracket holding it and just slide it out

Wow, this video has so much good info. I'm planning to do some very similar things to my MR2. Not fuel system- I just upgraded pump and injectors, but I'm switching to the newer knock sensor, going to use a un-rebadged mac boost solenoid, and using a Haltech. Honestly just watching to see if there's a better place to put a flex fuel sensor on the stock fuel system than the connector right before the fuel rail.

Lol I would imagine mazda didn't make it easy to replace 🤔 but the video was all south of 40 if u use Google maps thats how I find them
