Lean Behind the Scenes: Utah's Nutrition Care Services
A Bethesda hospital Central Supply aid. And I worked there seven years. Now the hospital 🏥 is closed for life.
🤠
Perfect
I Have worked in this field 10 years at 3 different hospitals.I enjoy the job it self, but SPD seems to be chronicley understaffed. When I took my class we were told that SPD is a department that costs the hospital money rather than makes it money.I think that is why staffing is at a bare minimum , so it costs them less money. Unfortunately it seems to me that what happens is employees are spread too thin, often doing double duty ie, decon and asssembely or sterilizers and picking cases. Then if some one is at lunch or ,god forbid off sick, it’s triple the work for someone. Or days there are a large influx of trays, like vendor ortho trays, other work gets put off till a later hour or day.
This is a very clean hospital. I would not mind being admitted here
nice
I really like this process.
Has anyone worked at mayo or does anyone know someone who works for mayo? They have a training program for sterile processing and I want to know how it is. Thank you
I worked there for five years it was absolutely the worst job I ever had!
Packaged with NO DAMN GLOVES SO NOW NOT STERILIZED ANYMORE.🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
They still get sterilized, you don't have to assemble with gloves. Unless the sterile container is opened, it's okay. Coming from a sterile processing lead tech here.
how long have you worked in sterile processing? lol. no you do not need gloves on, hair net yes and no food or drink in area. When the instruments are being assembled, they are NOT sterile, they are clean...they are sterile after going into an autoclave, and once out of autoclave they are still in either in a case or wrapped.....so they are sterile and stay that way till being opened...
I have NEVER seen a dumbwaiter/cart lift with Series 2 fixtures before! That is so rare! I have seen a cart lift, but I have never seen one with Series 2 fixtures. I think the small dumbwaiter might be a Matot.
Great thorough explanation for a short video. Ty
I'm currently doing my 400hr externship and I don't know if im gonna like it. Maybe it's because it's at a Trauma Hospital & it's really busy. Maybe I should go to a more relaxed hospital. I dont know how in the hell u would memorize so many instruments 🤦🏽
How did it go?
Instruments being returned failed to meet the OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen Standard and the AAMI guidelines.
Imteresting
too bad our field doesn't get the pay we deserve.
It actually does. just depends on where you live, the hospital, and the cost of living honestly.
@@lyric6549 I agree I’m making $15 an hour without being certified and once I’m certified I can make up to $27 an hour
I’m making $22/Hr and am still working towards certification. Once certified I jump to $25/hr.
@@jayysavage4680 do u think that someone with no experince at all in anything that has to do with hospital would be able to make it in this job?
@@A.f2023 what's your background?
Very informative video.
I’m considering this field of work and found it
Great video👍🏽
The first second I thought that this is surgical tech hospital, but I don't know
Clarkson tower decontamination
Central sterile supply department is the back bone of the hospital
You forgot house keeping
It’s not referred to as the backbone. It’s referred to as the heart of the hospital.
Unfortunately they are viewed as a nessicary expense of doing business, they cost the hospital money not make money. Too bad they don’t factor in the SPD department when billing cases, they could not even make income from surgery without SPD.Yet the idea persists that we are glorified dishwashers.
does anyone have helpful videos of theory in the spd filled? currently taking my class for Iachsmm cert. I wanna grasp the theory more and retain much more than I haved.
Good luck to you!
@@bklyn2miami553 thanks I actually pass my crcst so I’m on my way
@@coop2380 congratulations. How was the test?
I know you finished but if anyone else is looking look up Boston Career Institute. The instructor has great videos and my teacher used them as well.
That was cool. Thanks for sharing it
I love how organized hospitals are when it comes to sterility and that sterile field in the beginning looked so satisfying for some reason 😂
