What I found out with the Scarlett Solo Interface is that keeping it at the lowest input (with instrument switch engaged) has the best signal to noise ratio. So that boost you dial in with the gain knob I just do with a gain and/or limiter in the DAW after going in. Doesn't matter that it's like 8db or more, it works the best for me.
Hi, thanks for watching! Yes, that's also a common method. However with my old Scarlett 6i6 2nd gen my method works better for me but with my 3rd gen Scarlett Solo, the difference is much smaller and I also leave the gain almost at zero on the Interface. I also think the difference is much bigger between cheap and high end Interfaces.

Hi Jens!! I've watched a tons of mixing videos about percussion and i can say that this one is the best i've seen!! May i ask if on the masterbus you added something? I see two instances of Flatlines 2; what this this plugin do?
Hi, thank you very much for watching ! 🙌 And yes, on the Master Bus there is just a little EQ and two instances of Flatline. I use one more for clipping purposes and the other one for limiting. But I don't do it always with two Plugins, most of the time one is enough. Especially the hybrid mode in Flatline does the job of combining these two modes very well ! It's an amazing Plugin!
Hi Jens, habe Deinen Kanal gerade erst entdeckt. Danke für den interessanten Clip. Deine Zusammenstellung hat in der Tat epische Wucht, und man kann leicht nachvollziehen, was Du machst. Aber wie bekomme ich das Ganze in ein größeres klassisches Ensemble gepackt (bspw. Titelsong 'Game of Thrones'), ohne das entweder die Wucht verloren geht oder aber die Feinheiten des Orchesters untergehen? Automatische Kompression (des ganzen Orchesters)? Wie würde man das Problem bei Heavy Metal lösen? Hast Du zu dem Thema vielleicht mal einen Clip gemacht? Eine kritische Frage habe ich aber, auch wenn ich persönlich (wegen jahrelanger - eher unfreiwilliger - Übung) kein Problem habe, Dir sprachlich zu folgen, und die Frage eventuell etwas persönlich ist...aber dennoch: Warum mach Du Deine Clips nicht in Deutsch? Ich frage das nicht ohne triftigeren Grund, denn in rund 10 Jahren, in denen ich meine eigenen Skills via UA-cam zu verbessern trachte, sind mir nur eine Handvoll deutschsprachiger 'Cubase-Tutoren' begegnet, aber keinem Einzigen, der sich spezieller mit Heavy-Metal oder Hard-Rock und dem genrespezifischen Mixing/Mastering in Cubase befasst. Ich werde vielleicht nicht der Einzige sein, der das etwas schade findet. Wie auch immer, werde Deine Abos mal auf runde 710 erhöhen. Danke nochmal für die Tips.
Hi, erstmal vielen Dank für die netten Worte. Ja, ich habe damals viel überlegt ob Deutsch oder Englisch. Die Entscheidung fiel auf Englisch weil ich damit einfach ein viel größeres Publikum erreichen kann und ich denke das jemand der sich ernsthaft für Musikproduktion interessiert sowieso früher oder später um Englisch nicht herumkommt. Hab auch trotzdem überlegt eventuell auch deutsche Videos zu machen aber das wäre dann doppelter Aufwand und die Zeit habe ich leider nicht. Aber sag niemals nie! Beste Grüße! 🙌

How loud was your guitar DI input level? mean did you turn the input up until the interface was clipping, and then backing it off? Or did you turn the input to 0. (Apparently that’s the right way in 2024)
Hi, I don't really remember to be honest, this was almost three years ago :D But I think I did it like you said, I turn up the gain on the interface until it clips and then back it off a bit. When you turn it down to zero it can happen that you have a really low level and you have to bring it up afterwards and also the noise level. But this depends heavily on your Interface ! Nowadays I just watch the meter on the inputchannel in Cubase and I can see clearly how loud the signal is. But it's almost the same, when it clips on the interface and you back it off then, it's the right level.

Just downloaded, as the SLO is the only Neural DSP plugin, which I really like. Simply nails the tone for me. The only thing, I missed on it, was the Doubler. (Oh, I forgot, a Wah like in the Petrucci also would have been nice.)
Soldano is hands down better than Nameless and one of the best among all the amps, imho)
I love the Soldano ! But Nameless is great for more modern tones and if you need extra tightness imo. Both are awesome !

Great demo and great tone. Having a blast with Genome these days myself. Until you showed guitar #2, i thought they had the same amp/cab/mic on each side, and just a few differences in the tweaking to make the stereo wider :) Really cool hat you did 2 different rigs on each side. EDIT : i went as far as listening to each side soloed in the center to compare both guitar sounds hehe Is the post processing shown at the end applied on the stereo guitars bus directly ? Or on a each guitar track ?
Hi, thanks for watching and for the kind words! Yes, with simple double tracking, i like slightly different rigs on each side. The processing is done on each single track. I do that more and more these days.

Hey jens, klasse video, wieder was gelernt. Ich habe krimh bisher nur in kontakt gemixt, möchte es jetzt mal routen zu den einzelnen instrumenten. Wie ist das mit dem reverb, z.b auf snare bleibt das erhalten? Wie ich gehört habe gehen nur die effekte verloren die auf dem master channel liegen? Danke!

How does this one compressor compare to townhouse?
I also have the Bx Townhouse, it's a great one too ! But the sidechain function of the Vertigo makes it more practical for my workflow, especially for the Drums when you don't want the low end of the kick drum constantly pushing your compressor. But sometimes you want that and than the other ones, Townhouse, SSL-G Comp for example are great too !
@@jensloetzsch I use the sidechain on townhouse also but lower, but since they still have sales and I have one more voucher I was debating on if I need this one or not .. that's why I'm asking XD
@@constantinranis Ah, I totally forgot that the Townhouse has a Sidechain function too ! 😅 Both are great, I personally use the Vertigo more for Drums and the other ones more for my Master/Mixbus. You don't really " need " another one but it's nice to heave at leat a few options. Best regards 🙌

Hi, yes, straight into my Scarlet 6i6 2nd Gen without any Pedals or extra Preamps.
If you like the brainworx version of the Vertigo compressor you’ll probably love the actual Vertigo version. They’re not the same plugin at all, I prefer the Vertigo version fully!
