    'Asian hate' was never explained to the Japanese properly, for reasons of political correctness. Let's just say it was an American phenomenon, and stemmed from decades of resentment from a certain ethnic minority towards Asians. It has nothing to do with Britain.

    This is why as a Bangladeshi American I never showed any interest in learning Japanese. I country that assumes their language is inferior to English, why would I bother learning that language? I speak English as first, Bengali and now learning Spanish. I'm sure I can get more Japanese girls with my English than if I tried to learn broken Japanese so it's pointless. Specially when locals would say stuff like, "then why don't you speak your native language, why speaking Japanese?" Be like "bitch go get my sashimi and stfu"

    I didn't think she was Japanese at all. I mean, there is always a subculture in Japan to make sense of your identity, but she's transcended all of that well into the stratosphere. Her mannerisms, her confidence, her thinking, but most noticeably, her total lack of self-consciousness. She's Singaporean. She'd actually fit into Canadian culture quite seamlessly.

      @@joshuasjapanchannel Crazy because in 2009 I knew some millennials headed to Japan to teach English and as disrespectful as THEY were of other people's cultures they knew they didn't want to frighten the kids with a beard. Westerners are thought of as dirty by the Japanese and that's one of the reasons why.

    Thats also geman culture, right, where they are reserved, secretive, they say only what they want to say, while in other cultures they are very expressive. I've heard how German are cold poeple, not expressive, won't look warm even vut for Germans they have enough room and thats all they want to express and thats fine wiht them. Other western cultures might be the most opposite.

I've been teaching english to japanese students as an asian person, too;, and i'm trying to make sense of the japanese culture because of my constant intereaction wiht japanese adults and children, they think and act that way. I just found this channel and it’s so interesting! I was born in the UK to a British father and Hungarian mother, but two weeks after I was born we moved to Kyoto where I lived for the first year of my life. My dad was offered a great job in Kobe but he wanted to be near his family so we moved back to the UK and I grew up there. I sometimes think about what my life would have been like had we never left Japan. Thanks for the video and for sharing your story!

  • @frankpaquet295
    @frankpaquet295 7 місяців тому

    You're both so interesting and it's so interesting to hear what you've gone through. I think it must be so hard to not ever seem to blend in, in Japan, just because of your outward looks. I find myself wanting to go to Japan just to see how clean it is! I would imagine that no other countries are quite the same that way. I've seen Joshua on other channels, talking about being looked at as a foreigner in Japan (Oriental Pearl, I think) and she wasn't brought up there, but is married to a Japanese man and has lived there a long time; she gets the same treatment as you both do, you'll never look Japanese and it's a very closed culture when all they seem to think is that any person that doesn't look Japanese, is American! So funny; they definitely do need to broaden their horizons! Good luck with your UK adventure, I hope that it gets easier to be there. (from Sandi)

    the reason such a question is asked is to find out if a future employee will be a long time or short term employee. the time and cost involved investing in that employee is a big deal. this question clarifies to the business the employees' future plans. though the US suggest that such questions not be asked because it may be taken as discriminatory. this is a stupid law- you can be hired or not hired for any reason. Looking for an astronaut to go into space in one year... can you be asked if you are pregnant ? stupid if you cant be asked. Planning on working for a year and getting married when your spouse's pre approved promotion comes in 10mths? your employer just spent thousands of dollars and 6mths training you for medical billing and you leave because you were planning on getting married and start a family... many more reasons why such questions should be asked then the reason they shouldnt be

      The wife gives birth, gets maternity leave then goes back to work. It is not hard to comprehend. Almost every other highly developed nation does that. A woman can balance a job and a child if the husband is being a proper father. Not a money bag, a father.
