Fishery direction
Know your product market fit… what does that mean? My opinion is that it’s better to go narrow and deep when deciding on what fishery you’re developing, rather than broad and shallow.
Start by taking a step back and looking at your fishery positioning and infrastructure, which market sector is your scenario best suited to?
Some businesses run best with heavy footfall, often to maximise customer spend on other income, for example if there’s a cafe or shop on site. Other fisheries might fit the low volume exclusive booking model.
There’s many different management models that don’t work simultaneously in the same waterbody. Discover who your ideal market is and align every fishery management decision with the direction of the business and the specific market you choose.
Also… don’t let 1 single angler influence your management decisions. Stay focused on your plan! It’s much easier to measure your performance and track your progress when you’re more precise on where you’re going. 😁

Successful fishery business?

A successful fishery and a busy fishery are not always the same thing! Success is on your terms as a fishery manager. Your clientele can get between you and your goals, so it’s important to assess the risk and reward that angling pressure has on your fishery business and manage it accordingly. 📈 #fisherymanagement

A different feed option that fits the gap in the market. The results keep up with the leaders when applied to a healthy outdoor waterbody. The feed behaves differently to extruded aqua feeds, i believe it’s the fast breakdown of our pelleted formula which supports the vital water cleansing plankton, algae and good bacteria required for a consistently fertile water. 😁 #fisherymanagement

It’s extremely rare to find successful carp fry recruitment amongst a thriving population of Rudd, Roach,Skimmers or Perch. It’s also rare to find carp successfully recruiting in very weedy venues. That’s down to the fry needing optimal levels of vitamins/minerals to fulfil the biological demands of a rapidly developing organism. Those vital nutrients that the fry need at those critical stages ...

    We're currently experiencing a massive filamentous algae bloom. Nitrite is around 0.5ppm and nitrate is around 10mg/l, trace of phospate, it's an old estate pond but it's gone from clear and weedy to weedy, a bit murky and suffering with masses of filamentous algae/blanket weed over the last 4 years. I have a feeling we're getting runoff from the fields but I need some heavy rain to analyse the inflow, scary times, not really sure what to do except keep trying to skim the crust off (we're creating plant filter beds on the inflows, trying to divert the suspected runoff, clearing lilies and surrounding trees where possible)

    Carp are the problem. They are bot ment to be here and their greed and the fisheries single minded approach drives native species out. Its no longer a ecosystem and offers nothing to the natural world

  • @Edge-of-Reason
    @Edge-of-Reason 2 місяці тому

    Fisheries have a lot to answer for. Both match and specimen. The latter eridicates all other species and ecosystems for the benefit of what is essentially a invasive species. I look at you average carp fishery and just see a once healthy ecosystem that has been systematically turned into a mono culture. Even the water is blue, might as well be sitting by your bath.

    The amount of bait carp are eating varies constantly so this test doesn’t say much. The only way to get relevant results is by feeding more than one type of boilie and than count the leftovers after a certain amount of time. Also you have to do this on various waters.

    Great idea in principle, but to be trully scientific and take envirnmental factors out of the equation you should feed them different types of boilies at the same time. Otherwies water temp, carp "mood", air pressure, moon phase, wind direction, etc may and most likely will affect your results. I also do not understand why you are not willing to share the name and brand of boilies you are using?

    Swings and roundabouts I think, it’s all about the starting product, like above if you have a lake so hemmed in with trees and years of silt build up it takes constant management, as for many natural lakes, I’ve seen many that have almost dissapeared due to overcrowding of trees and leaf fall creating a shallow puddle, The lake I run has taken a lot of work and still going but we’ve seen improvements in silt build up with removal of trees, currently using barley extract to combat algae as it normaly goes pea green In the summer and that comes with its own risks, I think no fishery with a ‘good’ head of fish can require no work, although they are agitating the silt etc they are also contributing to the organic load and draw on oxygen, not to mention the whole concept of this video, feeding!
