Yo, we literally have the same preference lol. I bought my first pen 2 months ago, a lamy safari and now I own 6. (im ashamed of my decision). I own Lamy Safari, 2 Al-stars which i regret buying now, CP1 which is also my all time favorite, and 2 Jinhaos (80 and 911).

I’m really disappointed that the green isn’t a permanent color :(

I bought a brass Kaweco sketch up clutch pencil and wanted so much for the smell not to bother me as I absolutely love patina. Couldnt do it though and had to return , the smell was too overpowering for me. Other reviews on sites had warned of that but I needed to find out for myself. This was a very informative video. 🙂

Ordered one of these pens 2 days ago. I wanted a take anywhere fountain pen and i wanted to see how the patina came out on yours. I have a sheaffer prelude i was bringing with me to the office for a while but honestly its a very delicate pen. Plus i wanted something with a screw cap so that if the pen were to leak, it wouldnt be at the expense of my clothes. So here we are, brass pen on the way which will clearly patina beautifully and be a great pen for every day use. Be it at the office, or when im working on building something at home.

Excellent video! I never knew what it meant to be a kit pen -- it's a lot more difficult than I thought it would be! I just thought it was gluing together a kit.

Thanks for explaining the Collection meaning. I bought this color Kaweco because it was on sale, but the grip had a crack, The vendor sent me a replacement but it smelled so horrible. I think it was the glue or resin, but it too developed a crack. I decided to buy another nib from another vendor but couldn’t find one with a lavender grip so I bought it in white. Now I have a two tone Kaweco, lol. My first Kaweco was the Machiato and I absolutely love it. I bought it 6 years ago and it’s still one of favorites of all my pens. My Lavender is just ok.

Good video, I wanted an opinion. I'm about to buy a Lamy Fountain Pen and I'm between these two Lamy Safary models and the Lamy CP1, which one do you think is better?

So does it really look brown in person? Or can it be mistaken for black if the light doesn't hit it properly???

Have em both and love em both! Rightly pointed out about the clip on the capless could be a bother depending the way you grip the pen...Good job with the comparison 😉 BTW actually do find it quite satisfying to uncap the pen with twist/screw mechanism

I have a Pilot Metropolitan, and Parker Jotter fountain pen ready for work, and for loaners, a stash of ballpoint pens. The fountain pens always remain on me, so small chance for them to grow legs and walk away. Agreed, office is no place for expensive pens to be lost or damaged, regardless how much money one has.

This is a very good design and I would really like it if the clip would be black. Also the grip as I remember was not comfortable.

Good choice! The CP1 is also a good work choice because it isnt ostentatious. I use my Lamy 2000 a lot for that reason. Excellent but understated pens, at a distance.

The CP1 is a great and very underrated pen that is also not showy so if you want to take it to work and go under the radar it's great. Bonus points: you can change out the nib easily to try different things.

If you want something very similar but a little cheaper pen than the CP1 then you should look into the lamy LOGO. As for the snap cap you can use a little bit of silicone grease on the snap ring.

I have used expensive pens at work, but have been nervous because pens tend to walk away from my desk. So generally, I like reliable entry level pens. That way if someone borrows a pen to sign a document and walks off with it, I'm not stressing out trying to find out who took my pen.

I‘d also recommend the Platinum Preppy for on the go. They use cartridges or can be used as eye dropper pens. They’re plastic, come in different colors and are cheat at around 4-5€/$ a piece. They write well and are also great for beginners.

Yes to cartridges! Give them some love! I keep an inexpensive fountain pen in my office desk drawer with a box of cartridges for easy refilling. I also bring cartridges whenever I travel by airplane and don't insert them into my pens until I arrive at my destination. Better to be safe than sorry!

great video! I think I will purchase that brass version today :) Also, if you like the look of the polished metal and don't want it to patina, there are jewelry waxes you can buff into the surface to protect them and keep them looking nice so that you don't have to polish them as often!
