There is a Weekend at Bernie's 2. It's not as good as the first one, but I think it's way better than it gets credit for. It used to be on IMDB's 200 worst movies list, even though I would say it's much funnier and more creative than most popular comedies. I guess the second movie probably has too weird of a story for a lot of people. It's pretty hard to keep a story going that makes sense when the star is a dead guy who keeps being mistaken for being alive.

This is my favorite. I saw bac k in HS. It almost beat out Stars Wars for Best Movie of 1977. I was like 51 vs 49%. LOL Actually in 1977 if a Sheriff from Texas told you stay you stayed cause when they did get you do double the time.. A lot of the comedy lines sure didnt age well. I was LMAO when U said no GPS. Well back then there were maps. The sales of CB radios after thos movie took off. It chnged the entire culture of the SE USA> Now today you kids dont even know what CBs are. They are still used by truckers, Tow trucks, Trains, for inter communications. The bar fight was just bikers and truckers dont get along so they looking for a fight.You kinda leaving out a lot of the funny clips. CB language has its own terms..Part 2 and 3 are NOT worth it. They just get dumber and dumber. Can only overdue a sinngle theme so much.

One of my favorites. Cool that you reacted to it. My favorite scene is where the F-14's play around with the Zero's. I think a lot of fans of this movie wish they would have stopped the invasion of Pearl Harbor. I just finished reading a series that is similar to this called Weapons of Choice by John Birmingham. It's about a multinational fleet in 2021 that goes back to 1942 just before the island of Midway invasion.

During the real shootout at the OK corral each side fired 13 shots with the Cowboys hitting two times and the Earps and Doc with 11

If you are into reading then try 3 books by John Birmingham- Weapons of Choice, Designated Targets and Final Impact. In those books a whole allied fleet of ships including a Super Carrier and a British super cavitating trimaran destroyer is transported back into the Middle of the US fleet steaming for Midway. Chaos ensues!!😊

This is a tremendously fun movie, and I have enjoyed watching it many times, but it is definitely based on a very flawed premise. It accepts the myth that the US would not have been involved in WW2 without the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, but that is absolutely not true. Even if the Japanese attack on Pearl had been intercepted by the strike force, the Japanese still would have attacked many other US territories in the Pacific, including Wake Island and the Philippines...so the US is still going to declare war on Japan, and things progress almost the same. Also, important but little known fact...the USA was in an undeclared war in the Atlantic against Germany already in the Summer of 1941. The US Marines moved to Iceland for occupation duty to free up badly needed British troops, and at the same time FDR committed the USA to guarding the entire Atlantic Ocean from Iceland west to the US coast. By August US destroyers were beginning to join the other Allies that were fighting to guard the convoys on their way, although the more important forces were more maritime patrol aircraft....the first US destroyer sunk by U-Boat was USS Reuben James on October 31, 1941. So regardless even of what the Japanese did, war between the US and Germany was inevitable by November of 1941, it was just a matter of the Germans sinking something bigger than just a destroyer. But it was fun to watch you go through the same things I did the first time I saw this one. LOL

One thing not mentioned in the Movie was the Aircraft Carrier they were was named the USS Nimitz after Admiral Chester Nimitz. Now heres where things get funky Chester Nimitz was given command of the US Pacific Fleet as a direct result of the attack on Pearl Harbor, If the USS Nimitz succeeded in stopping the attack before it happened they change history and Admiral Kimmel would have remained in command and there would be no USS Nimitz to come back and change history.

It is doubtful it would stop Pearl but they would have wiped out about a third of the planes in flight and could have sunk several of the Jap Fleet. If you get the DVD set there is some great Behind the Movie bits including a bit with the real pilots from the ship. Also the young director cameos and says the lines "They done it We're at war" His dad played the captain. Wish more of the great war films about WWII were done by reactors but I think YT doesn't like them.

Prior to WWII it was still the Department Of War. The change to Defense came some time after as a political name change.

The last pre Nimitz class ship and last non nuclear supper carrier just got under tow for the Breakers in TX today from PA. The USS John F. Kennedy. The Enterprise the first nuclear carrier beat her to it. All still active are now Nimitz or Ford classes with the Nimitz starting that process too already. First to reserve then scraped.

Producer Peter Douglas was the driving force behind The Final Countdown.[5] With a limited budget and a promising script, he was able to attract interest from the U.S. Navy. Officials from the Department of Defense offered full cooperation after seeing a script, but insisted that for safety and operational readiness, the film schedule would be dependent on the "on location" naval consultant, William Micklos.[6] Principal photography took place at Naval Air Station Key West, Naval Station Norfolk, and off the Florida Keys, over two five-week periods in 1979. Scenes at Pearl Harbor consisted of mainly stock footage with most of The Final Countdown exteriors shot on the Nimitz while at sea, and at drydock for interiors. During operations, an emergency landing took place with the production crew allowed to film the recovery of the aircraft on the Nimitz; the sequence appeared in the final film.[7] Crew members of the Nimitz were used as extras, a few with speaking parts; a total of 48 of the crew appear as "actors" in the final credits.[8] The difficulties in filming a modern jet fighter were soon apparent when the first setup to record an F-14 takeoff at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, resulted in both camera and operator being pitched down a runway.[9][Note 2] Dissension in the production crew led to major changes during location shooting, with a number of the crew being fired and replaced.[Note 3] Taylor's direction was considered workmanlike, as he had a reputation for bringing projects in on time and on budget, but suggestions from U.S. naval aviators were ultimately incorporated into the shooting schedules with the "B" crew placed in charge of all the aerial sequences that became the primary focus of the film.[7] In order to film the aerial sequences, Panavision cameras were mounted on naval aircraft while camera-equipped aircraft and helicopters were leased from Tallmantz Aviation, including a Bell 206 Jet Ranger helicopter, a Learjet 35, and a B-25 bomber converted into a camera platform. Three Mitsubishi A6M Zero replicas, originally built for the film Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970), were flown by pilots from the Confederate Air Force, now called the Commemorative Air Force.[11] Two of the replicas were featured in a dogfight with F-14 Tomcats; it was the first time such a dissimilar engagement had appeared in film, with the "totally different speeds...environments and weaponry" of the aircraft causing extreme challenges for the jet pilots. In one scene where an F-14 "thumps" a Zero by flying under and streaking upward in front of the slower aircraft, the resultant "jet blast" of turbulent air was so intense that the yokes of both of the Zeros in the scene were violently wrenched out of the pilots' hands and caused both aircraft to momentarily tumble out of control.[Note 4] The lead pilot's headset, along with his watch, were ripped off and out of the open canopy of his Zero, resulting in a few anxious moments as the F-14 pilots were unable to establish contact.[12] During a scene when a Zero fires on an F-14, in order to get on the "six" of the low and slow Zero-that is, to bring one's aircraft directly behind the target aircraft in a position corresponding to six o'clock on an analog clock face-the jet fighter did a low pull up that ended just 100 feet (30 m) above the ocean in a screaming recovery.[12][Note 5] At one point during filming, one of the Tomcat aircrews held up a profane sign addressed at Katharine Ross in retaliation for the actress denying a request from the VF-84 pilots to meet her in a hotel the previous day. The shot made it into the dailies and reportedly infuriated Ross. During the climactic attack on Pearl Harbor, scenes reproduced in monochrome from Tora! Tora! Such an underra6ed movie

This film was what made CBs very popular for a while. The film was shot in and around Atlanta. They never left Georgia in real life.

$1.50 for a couple burgers and drinks. It would be 15 bucks today or more. That is the hidden real tax of a counterfeit currency printed by the federal reserve that is backed by nothing since Nixon. It is so worthless about 2 decades ago they had to switch form using scrap jean material to waste poultry feathers to make the rag for the dollar.
