First weekend of Autumn! Garden tour fall plants, September 2024!
I covered all my garden too. I’m glad I did, because it ended up being really cold. And it’s still not over!!!
@@CajunBoudreaux yes very cold! I went take a sneak peak at my potato’s they still look ok 💪🤞for now!
You don’t have to just remove the areas with the eyes and plant those pieces individually? I thought by placing the whole potatoes, the majority of the potato will rot? Sorry, never grown them before but super interested in it! Thanks in advance ❤
@@hannahpothier5329 hey thanks for the question and nope just plant the whole thing it will produce multiple slips from one potato then when you are ready to plant outside just pull out the slips they will have roots attached to them, plant just the slips themselves and you can compost the potato afterwards! Regular potatoes 🥔 that produce tubers are more prone to rot than sweet potatoes 🍠 which actually are a root not an actual tuber thanks 😊
🦋💯❤️❤️
@@Smalllouisianahomestead2024 wow! I think my whole concept of a slip vs a root was off, haha! Thank you so much for the info, I think I might try this one this year! Love the content and looking forward to more! ❤️
@ Thanks 😊 sooo much for watching! Yea try it out! Let me know how it works out for ya!!
I've never seen pickled tumeric and carrots in lemon juice. Interesting. Are you ready for all the cold weather coming next week. Adding straw and leaves to my garlic and cabbage beds. I have one tomato plant with a bunch of tomatoes. Will cover it and hope for the best.
@@impatientcajun yes will try the turmeric soon to see how it came out also yes as ready as I can be 😞 hope it’s not too cold! 🥶 can only prepare so much!
Bet it’s good it looks good and ik damn well that tater salad is on point
@@KJT-gulflinecoastal thanks!😊 It is very good!
Happy New Year! Looking forward to future videos we homestead here as well we’re in the southeast Louisiana we are open to tips and new ideas always when it comes to gardening I’m 69 year of age but I consider myself a student to gardening it always something new to learn, thanks for what you share God Bless
@@denniswillie949 Definitely always something new to learn! Every year is different in some ways, adapting is the hardest part but doable! Thanks for your support! And your very welcome 🙏
Really like your videos. Being that you are just down the road, makes it easier to understand when and what to do in my cajun garden. Looking for lots of new ideas coming from for this beginner gardener.
@@impatientcajun Thank you sooo much! Can’t wait till spring! Lots of new ideas and things are on the way! Thanks for watching it means a lot! 😊
Wow beautiful. You obviously have really good soil in your raised bed - do you make your own mix?
@@cajungirlgardens2943 some of the soil towards the bottom, is mostly compost that I have made myself also as i amend my soil I just add a bag or 2 of store bought organic raised bed soil and also add organic bone meal and blood meal once or twice a year! Thanks for the question! 💚
First time you make a video I don’t hear that rooster tryna take over….maybe you finally giving him GUMBO vibes 😬
@@benjieterrebonne158 it’s on his mind I’m sure 😆
I just happened upon your channel I see it was back in the spring you had a good harvest of taters I’m over here in southeast Louisiana on the Northshore of Lake Ponchatrain glad I seen you on here I subscribed to your channel now, thanks God Bless
@@denniswillie949 awesome! Welcome! 🤗
Working on a late fall harvest right now!
Very impress with your tumeric yield. Could you do keep us update at each season! Also have you tried to grow ginger? I don't have much success with either. Love from Australia
@@MinhNguyen-mp4pv thanks for watching and your comment!!❤️ yes may try ginger soon also! Still working on the homestead lots of work to be done!! I will definitely keep everyone updated on all that I share!
Very nice raised bed.
@@carlpontiff7752 thanks! Came out pretty good!
I just did my turmeric and ginger last week.
@@cguidry1481 awsommmmeee!
Wow. Can't wait to see how to pickle tumeric.
@@impatientcajun gonna try picking soon! Doing a test run on fermentation 🤷♂️ hopefully comes out!
Looks great man. 👍🏻
@@OSKG2023 thanks 😊
Beautiful…I would like to get one built. Did you design, or envent?🎉
Purchase from amazon link is in the description of the video i tagged in this short. Thanks for watching!
nice big bed.
@@impatientcajun thanks! Came out pretty good!😊
Nice cauliflower, love the purple & gold.
Thanks! 😊 yea I didn’t realize it was LSU colors 😆 I’m not into football so no I didn’t do that on purpose….
@ I’m not into football either, but 20+ years living in BR will brainwash you. 😂
@@OSKG2023 true🤓
Those cauliflowers are beautiful. Great job.
@@impatientcajun thanks 😊
Benji will surely need some soup for when he returns to the gym.
@@carlpontiff7752 you right about that 😆
Score!!!
Definitely! I was like get y’all’s fork lift brah
That’s cool, I’ve never fermented anything, I will have to try this. Will the cauliflower keeps it color (yellow or purple) during the process?
It’s really really good! And yes it keeps its color but the purple does bleed off a little into the solution but it’s really pretty!
@@Smalllouisianahomestead2024 Thanks. I’m definitely going to try it once my cauliflower is ready.
You can't get rid of turkey. I guess that you were hoping that everyone took a plate home with them. 😢
People take plates but never enough 😆 but always other ways to use it or make it better for next time 😉 nothing goes to waste here!
Yumm!
Happy Thanksgiving. Are your blackberries thornless?
Thanks! and yes they are the thornless variety
Yes, you do make it look easy. I'm hoping to add irrigation and shade clothes to the bed I have now. I am hoping to create a new bed next to the present one in the later part of the winter. Right now still trying to live without a kitchen due to the flood. I will get there sooner or later.
Awesome! let me know how everything turns out!
Cauliflower is looking awesome. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks, yes, they are beautiful!

The Texas Super Sweet onions are awesome, I grew them last winter. 👍🏻
@@OSKG2023 nice!!! 😊
Watching you do this looks so easy from my recliner. Haha. That greenhouse is looking good.
@@impatientcajun 😆 right! It wasn’t so bad I build things according to the least amount of hard work as possible…. But doesn’t always play out that way 😉
So much beautiful green growth.
@@motorheart9045 thanks 😊
Your food is looking good, so when is dinner so that can come over to eat?😊
@@jacquelinedarby1076 😊 thanks! You’re invited anytime!
Your garden is looking good. Well, that rain last Wednesday did a job on me. It flooded my kitchen and study. First time ever for us to flood. The garden will have to make it on it's own for a little while.
@@impatientcajun oh wow! Sorry to hear that! Sending prayers for a back to normal life for you!
New to the channel! Everything looking good! That cabbage is the truth! -N
Thanks 😊 so much! Thanks for joining me!
Looks delicious
Thank you 😋
I'm also doing the same. So, we both shall find out.
@@cguidry1481 awsome! Let me know how it goes!
I did Pole beans for the first time this year. They took forever to start producing. The Bush beans I planted at the same time produced 2 batches and died before I got my first batch of beans from the pole beans. But once they started they produced nonstop for over a month and got a lot of beans. Maybe they just take a while to get started?
@@Diabeticgardener well these did start but most of them shriveled up on me so not sure what’s going on with these per say 😆 I’ve done well with Limas but another company seed, first time with these seeds 2nd planting did the same thing 🤷♂️ will try again in spring but with different seed company same variety we will see!
I do ok growing beans, but my problem is I never pick them and eat them. So, I’m going to give them one more try come spring and if I don’t do better, then beans are going to stop appearing in my garden.
@@OSKG2023 well best part about growing shelling beans is that you can leave them to dry on plant to store away so you don’t have to pick as often if they make.
😮really like your video's
@@deanharrison556 thanks!😊 thanks 🙏 for watching!! ❤️
Good luck with your experiment man. I’m on year 2 of gardening and failed at potatoes both years, but 2025 will be the year I finally get it right (I hope). 😂
Thanks 😊 I’ll send some potato prayers your way 😉
Congrats on your beautiful harvest! I just planted my first round of mustard seeds yesterday because it's been so hot & dry around here in St. Landry Parish. I was afraid they would bolt, but now I've got a lot of catching up to do!🤦🏽♀ Keep on growing! 🥬
@@dvorahbatzion6794 thanks!😊 yes weather not cooperating much, but gotta get something going for sure ! I don’t like being behind sometimes I’m too far ahead 😆
