Hi, I’m Martin, and I don’t do videos for a living, but I really enjoy filming. I bought 40 years old caravan in April 2023, renovated it June 2024.
I'm currently travelling around Europe, filming my questionable cooking skills, and my experience of living full-time on the road in my home on wheels.

The Bigger the Better | Hobby 390
The bigger the better, or is it really.
Hi, I'm Martin and today we gonna take a look at this not so big, bug fairly bigger caravan especially compared to my 43 years old compact caravan.
This is Hobby 390 from 2012 build in Germany, De Luxe base model in pristine condition. You can watch my first 12 hours spending in this caravan following the link below:

Camping 12 Hours in a 12 years old Caravan
Переглядів 74121 годину тому
This is my dad's Hobby 390 caravan who has it since the beginning of this year, and I decided to hop in and test it out myself and spend 12 hours in it. Now that I have my own caravan and have been living in it this past summer, I can give you my honest opinion of what I like and what I don't like about this visually bigger and more modern Hobby caravan compared to my own.
How Much My Caravan Rebuild Cost ?

Here are the consequences of not always making myself full research or even if I did - eventually it turns out things don't quite worked out the way I have planned or imagined them, simply because of low quality or even simpler reason "incorrect fit for the job". As with this whole project, since it's my first ever project of such scale and it has been way off my comfort zone - I had to buy mat...

Is FREE Camping Still a Thing in Slovenia ? 🇸🇮
Переглядів 1062 місяці тому
In this video, I wanted to cover this controversial topic of "Is there still Free camping in Slovenia?" Now that I traveled with my caravan from East, to Central to the Western-South of the country I do have something to say. Yes and No, won't be exactly the answer you have been wanting, I'm sure. But the real thing is, we can't be even mad at people and the whole country trying to preserve and...
Caravaning in Slovenia | First Time in the Country🇸🇮

After spending two weeks in Croatia, getting used to the caravan, how quickly it could turn into a small sauna. I drove off West towards Slovenia. I had a few places marked on my Google Maps to visit like Velika Planina and it's old historical villages, the Logarska Dolina (Valley), Lake Bled, Lake Behinj and the Seven Lakes Valley in Triglav National Park and all of that while full time living...
come and let's make my favourite breakfast

Not all the time the spots you camped on are with picturesque and exciting views. Plus to top things off - I almost haven't slept the whole night, because of the constant trains that passed by my, as I literally parked next to the train tracks. I got up, and decided at least to try kick-start the day making my all time favourite breakfast.
First Time Cooking in My Caravan Kitchen

After spending the night at a random residential parking lot in Daruvar, Hrvatska. I headed west, to see the magnificent "Monument to the Revolution of the People of Moslavina" - was it worth - I wish I could say "Yes", no offence to the monument - but the next 40 minutes of drive towards Čazma, was something I wasn't prepared physically, mentally and my front-drive family sedan for the 30ish k...

And I headed off. Finally the long waited trip has began. I dreamed for this moment since summer of 2022 and finally 2 year later - after 6 months of searching for a camper/van, I bought a car and my first ever caravan and now after 14 months of renovations - the caravan was ready to get back on the road. Been planning for ever to get around all 27 countries that are in EU - and now that finall...
My Caravan Rebuild | The End

Finally I've reached the end of this journey - which 14 months ago I couldn't even imagine that it would turned into such scale, with all the challenges - physical and mental - I definitely overcome my fears of not making it and giving up at an early stage - when so much of my time and money have been spent on this project. In this video I tackled everything that has been left to do from the la...

As I was hitting the final stage of my caravan rebuild. I knew I wanted to get a modernized hitch lock, which at the same time to be affordable and not highly expensive and to fit my 40 years old AL-KO hitch, that my caravan already has since production line back in 1982. Well as you might seen already - that did not quite happened and I needed to modified the handle of my hitch, in order to fi...

Lovely aesthetics! ❤
Wow. That's nice. I like it better than yours. Haha. But I don't know what you think, yet.
@@jackfntwist Hah, yeah. Well it's a caravan straight-out of manufacturer - with all the 2012 luxuries + lots of space for storage and moving around, standing straight inside. But with that extra space - comes along the extra mass, length and hight - that's just not sustainable for my type of off-grid living/traveling. But I can agree that is perfect for two, going on a weekend trip or short vacation, parked stationary on a campground.
Hi Martin, I really enjoyed this video, it reminded me of times I would go off to an empty field in my caravan, just to have time on my own. I looked at hobby caravan before getting an Adria Tey, this had a fixed bed but was small and easy to tow. The washroom was similar to the hobby, and I honestly think these were never designed for having a shower, correct me if I’m wrong, but I think customers in Europe don’t see the requirement to have one, similar to having ovens, which most UK caravans have as standard. Thank you David
@@flyme777 Hi David, absolutely agree on that one. I have been informed previously from a Swiss caravan dealer, where this caravan was imported from in Bulgaria, that these type of caravans that has these type of bathrooms inside, as you really correctly stated them as washrooms - are really there more for the toilet and the sink - than to have an actual shower and use it as a bathroom. Cause these type of caravans are seen and mostly used on campsites and as I mentioned in the video, on campsites you have all the amenities including large and convenient bathrooms that you can use. As you mentioned, I have always wonder why here in Europe we cannot configure most of the caravans to have an oven, just because it's not a standard to have one, like in UK, same we should summarise for the bathrooms/washrooms in these model/size caravans.
Beautiful views ❤
Great video keep up the good work 🎉❤
Great video just make sure to bandage 🩹 up those cuts before it gets infected bacteria 🦠
Where did you buy the windows?
@@Peter-ky8oz Hi, well I can't give you really any link - as I bought them from internal supplier here in Bulgaria, who does not ships outside the country. Although, they are marketed as "Carbest" caravan windows, on mine it says "Cheng Bang Idea" - so I guess they are some chinese windows re-branded as Carbest. I saw on the German Amazon you can find pretty much the same windows including the inside nets/blinds, just by searching "caravan windows" for around 300-600€ just how much mine cost. Hope that helps.
Great video! I absolutely love the Dolomites and have been there many times myself. Taking your caravan up there must have been such an amazing experience - the views are always breathtaking. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
Thank you for stopping by. Will definitely go back, probably without the caravan tho, but at least I prove my point that is possible if you have to 😅
That place, Lago di Braies, is the location for probably almost a hundred episodes, and many 100s of scenes of a famous Italian series Un Passo dal Cielo, with Terence Hill. I didn't know the name but I recognized the lake and mountains. There should be an old boathouse which in the series is called "la palafita" (a house over the water). In your last shot you must be sitting very near that boathouse. It was filmed there and in Cinecittá studios in Rome, but hundreds of scenes took place where you are sitting down in your last segment of your video. So G00gle Un Passo dal Cielo.
Oh, I just saw la palafita in one of your shots. That was Tererence Hill's home. Il forestale, he was a forest ranger. You are paying the price for the popularity of that location on TV.
Watch this UA-cam video: "Un passo dal cielo 3 Il saluto di Terence Hill"
nice one man
This must be the best video of Dolomites I've seen so far. Never been in those places, despite the fact that I'm only a few hours drive away. When I see videos like this, I'm all in buying a campervan. But then I think, suppose I do that and go there. Alone. Me and cows and crickets. No one to share with. I like to be alone, on my own and all, but this... this is too beautiful not to share with someone. I fear I might become a UA-camr or something 🙂
Great job mate 😊
So beautiful, even the towels are just the right color
Even better: Kip kk300 Shelter
Als je in je titels vermeldt dat het om een Kip kk300 gaat, ga je zoveel meer mensen bereiken! Great job!
Good luck
Hi Martin I am so pleased to finally found someone who has a Kip caravan and has renovated it. I am in Scotland and have just rescued a Kip Kompakt 300 similar to yours. Have just started with the renovations. I still have to watch your videos. Do you have an email address that you can let me have? Cheers Gordon
Well, the eggs are clearly not as old, as it says "fresh" right there on the box 🙂Toast bread is usually treated with a small amount of alcohol to kill the pathogens, this is why is slightly moist when you take it out. Alcohol then quickly evaporates and it's good to go.I would eat this with some apricot or plum marmalade instead of nutella. Your grandma taught you well. I miss my grandma, grandpa and my father, happy for you to still have them. Can you show some more around where you ended up and where you are heading? I have this dream to do the same thing and I'm actually interested in what kind of places I would end up when those places are not instagram material. Heat, wind, rain, bugs, noise... how do those things make it or break it. Are you enjoying the adventure or it turned out to be a bit of a PITA? I'm so curious.
@@MarkoPetejan Hi Marko, thank you for stopping by. There are some valid questions here, which I might include in a video to answer. But to sum up the whole trip till now - indeed there are places where although I liked the nature of- it felt really crowded, because of the tourists and high season, like for example in Slovenia - Triglav National Park. My take on that is - more off-grid places, less touristy places, cities or as you said it "instagram like" places which are unfortunately destroyed by social media. If you need to visit a place - whether is in Europe or elsewhere - I would suggest off-season - although the weather might not be as good as it is in high season - you would at least save yourself from the noise pollution and tourist crowds which are massive at this time of the year. I have planned to share my experience so far in a video, with the caravan and all, so stay tuned for that in the next few weeks.
@@Martin_Meramdzhiev well hi to you Martin from west Slovenia! I'm rooting for your channel to gain traction, however I'm noticing EU english speaking channels tend to have fewer subscribers than native language ones from bigger countries, like Italy. I'm not sure how interesting this topic is for your people, but a second native channel for them might be a good option for you. (Have you considered this?) For example a russian dude, named Oleg has an english channel VanTourist with 26 thousand subscribers, but his russian channel has 4 times that. Biggest native Italian youtubers (Yari Ghidone, Camperado i 3 nomadi) have about 135 thousand subscribers, non native english speaking like Norvegian Xplorer 90 thousand.
how was the trailer to tow after u got new ones?. to soft or to stiff?
@@MYRIADS75 honestly, to be fair - I'm not sure because of the torsion bar suspension combined now with the AL-KO suspension - it became stiffer, especially while crossing speed bumps. Maybe if I have used only the AL-KO suspension would have been enough- I know I used the correct model 1000kg, where the caravan is 750kg, but still I was hoping to be more softer.
Well done on your moussaka. I enjoyed watching you cooking. Be careful with those knives 😂

Great job Martin and please take care of yourself. Thanks for sharing you Journey with us. You are amazing :)
Guys! Thanks to all of you for commenting and stopping by! 🙏 I don't know anything about cars. Just wanted to share my frustration of being scammed in the dealership service shops, while servicing my own car. I believe in you - we can do it all - there's UA-cam and tons of tutorials - so don't let people waste your time, take your money and charge you for things that were swept under the rug.
Next up: Antifreeze, brake fluid, manual transmission and differential fluid and check if you have servo steering fluid. These never get touched by the dealer. Like NEVER ever.
Stupid mechanic couldnt fix a simple problem on my car, said it was motor mounts and a bad cat (he stole the oem cat basically) this was the experience i needed to start working on my own car. Dealerships are rip offs and local mechanics are to ignorant. just do the research yourself and learn to turn a wrench
0:44 Bazdmeg lol
Hello my brother in mind.. check if delphi will work with your car.. there are cheap clones for it and all shouldnt cost more than 50eur for a really good diagnostic
agree, they are shittt i have experience, both suzuki and nissan
at last, i resolved issues myself
Nissan are awful anyway just recycled Renault cars the dealerships are trying to do the best for an awful brand
I like rénovation project and if I was living in Bulgeria, I would love helping for free. This is a very nice project and I hope to see more video from you.
Good job, you mail it pretty good for somebody the in learning at the same time. I couldn't do better for sure. Regards :)
Wow Martin, you created a nice art in the window lol
I just had to take off the hose in five seconds to remove the oil filter
Haha, yeah - I've been driving french cars my whole life (Peugeot, Citroen) and they could be really pain a butt when comes down to basic service, while everything is so packed.
Hi Martin, you are right. Go to the dealership and see how beatifull is the showroom. Who is paying for that? it is us when we Buy a car and when we go for maintenance. I do not trust them ether.
Well,...Kent - I thought that at least on the other side of the globe - you don't have to deal with such scams - but I guess we all live the same life
Thank Martin for sharing this" I like your video, the content and on top of that, this is do by a very handsome guy. I'm supporting you.
