8:10 this is awesome!! I have used some of my fine china teacup saucers under houseplants. It brings me much more joy than just seeing them in my china cabinet.

3:35 I agree that everything should be used all of the time. I need to get my china and good silver out for more regular use. My mom made me promise when she passed them down, that I would use them for more than special occasions. So even game nights with friends and sporadic family dinners get fancy sometimes.

I worked with a bunch of older ladies. They were born in the '20s and '30s. They had great Girl Friday stories.

Interesting black glass facts. Thank you. Depression glass from the movie theater. Neat! I have enjoyed glass my entire life. Passed on to me from mom and grandma. I have several salt cellars that consigners would like me to sell. They are on my calendar for February.

Family business. Great! My dad is very much into picking (way before it was a thing). I'll be swinging by his place this weekend. He is in his 80s. We'll see what he has in storage for office supplies. He has two or three entire households in a couple of storage trailers. They do smell of mildew. What are we to do to get rid of that awful smell? Home décor, papers, and clothes. Everything!

I'll have to stock my bar with Caesar goodies. Straights Area Vodka in Clamato with celery salt, Worcestershire , and a tiny bit if Tabasco. I like it garnished with pickles.

Awesome experience gift ideas! You know I share the same views and philosophies as both of you. The quote hit home with me too as I've been trying to get my family on board with fewer material things. For the last two years, I have taken my parents (one each year because they are divorced) on a trip to Michigans Keweenaw Peninsula. We rent an air bnb, support small businesses, and hike more waterfalls than we can handle. I like the idea of alternating locations now that they have both been to this location.
