    I used to do weekly rolling fasts. Logged about 50 days of complete fasting in 2023. It worked really well until I got to around 6-7% body fat and had to stop. Really a great way to lose weight for those who have the fat storage to spare

      I've still got plenty of fat im proabably close to 20% right now, I've been sticking to OMAD and I Think I need another longer extended fast here soon!

    I am looking to challenge myself with rolling 48s with OMAD for the whole of June. If there are any 'challenge' groups, I would like to be a part of, to discipline myself. Kindly let me know. I am starting exactly from 1st June, irrespective of anything. I just want to be a passive participant of the group, without any interactions. A lone lurker, you may call, but in action.

      I think conceptualizing it can be difficult for people and sometimes it can be a mental roadblock that people don’t understand. It’s not that you’re more hungry. For those people who don’t fast when you tell them, you’re gonna not eat for one day they think that you’re gonna starve yourself and that they’ll die if they don’t eat.

    All good tips. I'd like to add that if you can do extended fasts (you have excess body fat and are am adult etc), be sure to do at least one 36 hr fast every week. If you get into the habit.. and then suddenly don't, it is often that much harder to get back into it.

    Voluntary fasting for most adults during Ramadan is a healthy endeavor.. if done safely of course. Imagining that I had a guest at my house who wanted to fast during Ramadan, I would water fast with them. Having coffee when they eat the morning meal (too early for me to eat anything else) and planning Iftar as OMAD. I'd likely skip Iftar several times as it is just easier for me to not eat at all then think about the single meal I'm going to eat later that day. And of course, I'd drink watee away from the guest. The only dry fasting I do is at night. TRE for me all the way.

    Thanks for the link. I've never tracked heart rate during an extended fast. But i can see how it would likely be lower. Interesting that you don't need electrolytes until day 3. • @FastTracktoFitness

      I think it may be because I eat lots of meats when I do eat so I am getting a lot of nutrients plus I take multivitamins when I do eat. But I do agree more I fast I think I’ll need to secure a better source of electrolytes! Any reccomendations? Heart rate has fell off a cliff for me! Never thought I would see it in the 30s. Crazy because a year ago I was playing basketball and it hit 200 and I was scared!

    I have noticed that high fat, moderate protein and low carb works best for me before fasting. However, I believe that what really matters is eating whole foods and avoiding processed ones. I got off track and realized how bad it made me feel. It's been just over a week since I stopped eating that way, and I'm already feeling much better. It was challenging at first, but my cravings are becoming weaker each day. I crave food of course while I'm not eating at all and sometimes its really hard but I crave healthier stuff (especially nuts, fish, whole fat diary, some vegetables) and I am not miserably hungry all the time. I'm restarting my journey towards better health and I am motivated to keep going :> we can do it!

    • @AzaleaBee
      @AzaleaBee 3 місяці тому

      Awesome to hear. I second the high fat, moderate protein, low carb whole foods, with daily TRE (time restricted eating), and at least one weekly extended fast. Not being "miserably hungry" but being completely satisfied and in control is something I wish I could tell my younger self, ... but I remember she heard someone say "it's about hormones".. and that immature younger self didn't understand, dismissed it outright, and just got fatter. Poor girl. :D

      How much water are you drinking daily, and how is your sodium intake? Do you take any multivitamins or other vitamins? Also how would you rate your gut health (do you eat things that are pickled and pro gut health) what I found for me when I was in that situation was that I was dehydrated and not drinking enough water. I also needed better gut health so I added eating typically maybe a quarter cup of sauerkraut in my dinner and maybe some pickles or pickle beets and I cut out a lot of the diet sodas I was drinking. I was also taking more vitamin D as well too and I think what was the ex factor was I was doing more cardio and I believe that depletes my glycogen Then leads to your body, using fat as an energy source sooner! Good luck keep me posted always love hearing about others journey and if there’s anyway I can help or you want me to go deeper on any of this let me know. Thank you.!

I'm thinking that it MAYBE better to eat 260 calories a day instead of 0, because your muscles will have protein to maintain their size. This is my opinion.
