Keep Hope Alive: Breaking Down the Walls (Palestinian & Jewish Voices)
Hope, Peace, Love, Joy, and Light are the Advent Season/Christmas themes. During our Christmas Eve service we will hear reflections from Palestinian & Jewish voices on each of these themes.
We will reflect on how these Advent themes can transform our world by breaking down the walls and by building bridges toward hope and peace, literally and metaphorically.

Computers are so far not better than human drivers. Teslas on the interstate have a higher accident rate than humans on the interstate. Teslas make a huge number of mistakes on city streets. The Robo Taxis in California are apparently a nightmare.

Is there any evidence of implicit bias? I an can understand that explicit bias can exist but it seems like it would be very hard to show that there is implicit bias or to disentangle it from explicit bias.

That's the thing, they don't have to prove anything's implicit. Just make the accusation.

Thank you so much Nylea! I can't believe it has taken this long for me to DO THIS with you! My new UCLA pulmonary specialist has given me a peace pipe, saline bong, or 'nebulizer' which I can never remember because I think of King Nebuchadnezzar. It ha been a thoroughly difficult year but I feel I must bring the joy of singing back and hopefully this device will help me clear out my lungs...he said it could help with both range and sustaining notes. Much love as always

Interesting revision of the Orpheus story. (It starts soon after 13:00 in the recording.) This revision turns a story of loss and despair into a story of hope.

To The Congregation of the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos I ran accross this video because I am a huge fan of Terry Pratchett and the discworld series. This peeked my curiosity and so I looked up "Unitarian Church". Now, you may not exactly aprove of my beliefs, but as a Pagan Priestess I am overjoyed to see a group of Christians who think in this way as it is my firm belief that long ago before anyone decided to manipulate the common people through the use and manipulation of religious beliefs and strict laws in regards to religion all Religions shared a common and basic core structure only differing in the Proper Nouns they designated to God and other important elements of their beliefs and the small details of how they worship, learn and live. I believe this is why violence and control stemming from religious beliefs was not as common then. Because if God, by any name is still God, if God imagined as any gender is still God, if God given any face in our imagination for us to look to as we pray and think on God is still God then their is no need to hate or harm anyone simply because they use different words and images to praise and worship God and teach and share their thoughts, experiences and enlightenment found in God. Pagans also believe one can be possessed by God to act, or teach, or even sacrifice their own lives. In that manner of thinking it is easy to imagine that Jesus saying he IS God and the son of God was meant in the way it was often used at the time. Meaning "I am God because God is everything and God is within me and taking this action, speaking these words through me". Also we are all Gods children so every man is God's son. Man himself is Gods only son. Pagans who are not defined by a singular, particular practice or organized religion often discribe their spiritual beliefs as "The Old Ways" and many of us do recall that before some individuals took it upon themselves to alter and control knowlage of God for their own purposes those same believers in the Christ were one variation of the old ways. I can not give evidece to the following as this is something I have descovered from prayer and looking within myself, but I do believe that all the teachings that encourage violence or exicution of others (such as anyone having same sex relationships and practioners of 'magic') were not a part of the original teachings. As for weather these things are sinful, well, thats not something I can decide for others and if conversion of all others to their ways is what someone truly believes they are called upon to do, well, who am I to argue with what they believe God has asked of them? So long as its not by force than it is still acceptable as one of the old ways. Whomever Jesus really was, I feel, truly, and firmly, in my mind, heart and soul that his true purpose and the true meaning of his words has survived and is being revived and recovering its place in the world through people that believe that Man is imperfect and it is the hands of men and not God that actually put words to parchment, hid those words away, recovered them, edited them, destroyed some of them and bound them into books and that logic and reason, especially in the form of satirical absurdity in the words of a brilliant man like Terry Pratchett, should rule over our own thoughts, emotions and especially the actions we take in consequence. So, from all those who believe and truly understand one of the oldest core teachings passed down through time in the Old Ways ,"All Gods are One God", (though you may or may not believe us to be on the side of your foe) Thank You! Thank You So Very much! Thank You for using the minds that God has blessed you with rather than blindly following the blind. Twilla Carpenter
